World of Warcraft Trading Card Game
Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the World of Warcraft trading card game's recently released Timewalkers: Reign of Fire expansion will be the final new set brought to the series. Timewalkers has the distinction of including every previously released rare loot card, but will mark the end of new production for the World of Warcraft TCG.

Blizzard thanked its players in the announcement, noting:
You made ripping open booster packs, discovering the wonders they held, and then building decks and taking them into battle a truly awesome experience.
Fans of card games and Blizzard can take solace in the fact that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, is currently cruising through closed beta and should launch later this year.

If you're looking forward to Upper Deck's next expansion to the World of Warcraft collectible trading card game, The Hunt for Illidan, as we are, you'll be doubly excited by the new loot cards they've come out with. One card, The Path of Illidan, gives you glowing green footprints wherever you walk. Have party members that just can't seem to keep up with everyone else? Show them where to go (pro tip: leave footprints leading into lava pits, just for them!). Also included, a D.I.S.C.O. ball for when it's time to par-tay, and the nicest of the bunch, an Ethereal Soul-trader who keeps track of what you kill when he's out and rewards you with money you can trade in for a bunch of cool items, including the very clothes off the old guy's back (complete with complementary dry-cleaning, natch).

A press release across the newsires has announced an unexpected development: Blizzard will be throwing another BlizzCon this year. BlizzCon 2008 will be the third such event the company has thrown, with last year's BlizzCon 2007 a hugely successful outing. Wisely, the planners of the event have chosen to schedule the convention outside of the summer busy season. We can expect to see the doors to Blizzard's gameworlds thrown wide on the 10th and 11th of October.

The release states that the event will run for two full days, and is tentatively planned to have a bevy of familiar-sounding events. Attendees will be able to have play-time with upcoming Blizzard releases, participate in discussion panels with developers, play in a WoW TCG tourney, and (of course) engage in a little cosplay. "Whenever we've been able to meet and interact with Blizzard gamers from around the world, it's been a great experience for us," stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We're looking forward to seeing even more of our players at this year's BlizzCon and delivering another entertaining and informative event for them

The World of Warcraft Trading Card Game traveling show, the Darkmoon Faire, is coming to Columbus, Ohio on April 11th through April 13th. For those of you who enjoy a few moments away from your computer, but dream of returning to the Sunwell every second you're gone, the Faire is the event for you! Get a little fresh air, meet some fellow Azerothians, and pick up some new cards to add to your deck. Tournament prizes include a home theater system, a high end gaming rig, and your travel expenses reimbursed!

Traveling with the caravan will be some new cards for preview and use. At the event, a Limited Darkmoon Faire Championship will be held using the March of the Legion and Servants of the Betrayer decks. This will give players a chance to sample some of the new cards during tournament play. Go ahead and log off, enter into some contests, partake in the festivities, have a little fun, interact with people from the WoW community, and defeat challengers in competitive matches!

The World of Warcraft TCG Darkmoon Faire has been touring Europe, and most recently stopped in London, England for a small tournament filled with fierce competition. Blizzard in partnership with Upper Deck Entertainment sponsored previous competitions in Frankfurt, Germany and Milan, Italy, and the two winners from those tournaments were on hand to battle it out in London. Victory smiled on the home favorites this time out, and both Frankfurt's champion Pierre Malherbaud and Erik van der Laan winner of the tournament in Milan lost to their UK challengers. In the end Paul Stuart, who had previously swept the UK tournaments, won the day, becoming the DMF London champion.

Players got the chance during the event to raid against Blizzard CMs using the Molten Core deck. The CMs are a tough group to beat, seeing as how in their 19 1v1 matches, they only lost 5. Despite valiant efforts, the raids were defeated by Baron Geddon in all his fiery glory. As a TCG fan myself I find it an inspiration to see lovers of the game gather together. Pardon me as I break out my deck to slaughter the next unsuspecting challenger. Any takers?
