Well-known <a href="http://worldofwarcraft.com/"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a> guild Method secured a world first kill on <a href="http://diablo3.com/"><em>Diablo III</em></a>'s Skeleton King in inferno mode just a few days after launch but was beaten to the game's completion by a single person. Players have been in outrage all week as server instabilities and login difficulties plagued the game's launch.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://leagueoflegends.com/"><em>League of Legends</em></a> revealed upcoming champion Darius this week and announced huge client updates that seem set to double the game's frame rate. <a href="http://blacklight.perfectworld.com/"><em>Blacklight: Retribution</em></a> released a new Netwar game mode, combining capture the flag and control point gameplay. <a href="http://heroesofnewerth.com/"><em>Heroes of Newerth</em></a> released its new support hero Riftwalker, <a href="http://dota2.com/"><em>Dota 2</em></a> released classic hero Treant, and <a href="http://riseofimmortals.com/"><em>Rise of Immortals</em></a> took a close look at melee damage-dealer Tzai. Upcoming <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/MOBA/"><em>MOBA</em></a> <a href="https://account.hirezstudios.com/smitegame/"><em>Smite</em></a> will be entering closed beta at the end of the month, and <a href="http://www.torchlight2game.com/"><em>Torchlight II</em></a>'s beta will soon end for the last time.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/not-so-massively-error-37-hero-spotlights-and-the-torchlight/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Not So Massively: Error 37, hero spotlights, and the Torchlight II beta</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/not-so-massively-error-37-hero-spotlights-and-the-torchlight/">Not So Massively: Error 37, hero spotlights, and the Torchlight II beta</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 20:00:00 EST. <div>
	MMO players, have you ever thought that your in-game exploits were worthy of a feature film? Well, they probably aren't, but at the very least they're worth a documentary!<br />
	<br />
	An upcoming documentary film by the name of "Race to World First" is about the <a href="http://www.massively.com/category/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a> guild Blood Legion and its journey to become the number one guild in the world. The only catch is that the current numero uno guild is the internet-famous Paragon.<br />
	<br />
	The full documentary can be watched at Looking for Group Productions' website for the meager fee of $2.99. If you'd like a peek at what you'd be getting yourself into, follow on past the cut to watch the documentary's trailer.</div><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/new-documentary-follows-the-race-to-world-first/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>New documentary follows the Race to World First</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/10/15/new-documentary-follows-the-race-to-world-first/">New documentary follows the Race to World First</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 15 Oct 2011 12:00:00 EST. OK, we're all nerds here, so let's not look at the title and think of kissing or snogging or whatever other deviant "firsts" you may have in your criminal record. Instead, let us swim to the safer waters of gaming firsts, where we either accomplish something before anyone else or do it for the first time in our lives.<br />
<br />
Seriously, folks, CLEAN UP YOUR MINDS. That's my last warning!<br />
<br />
MMO players have a long-standing obsession with firsts of many kind -- world firsts, server firsts, cheerily posting "FIRST!" in any comment thread as if there were a Pulitzer Prize for Fastest Internet Responder (although there could be -- I'll check into it). Our first MMO experience tends to be the one we remember the most fondly; the first character that we took to the level cap becomes a sign of our immense prowess.<br />
<br />
So what was your most memorable first, either personal or server-wide, in an MMO?<br />

Europeans can boast another world-first in <em>WAR</em> as <a href="http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=278075">Order members of Eltharion took down Tchar'zanek</a> only a couple weeks after <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/first-legitimate-city-capture-in-warhammer-online/">K8P took down Karl Franz</a>.<br /><br />One of the biggest pre-launch worries about <em>WAR</em> was that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/07/warhammer-onlines-realm-imbalance-fears/">Destruction would boast a huge population advantage over Order</a> and continually dominate. Players were a bit worried when Destuction was first to capture a city, but, albeit on a different server, this return strike by Order bodes well for the game's future in terms of realm balance. The true test of balance, however, is whether or not Order on K8P or Destruction on Eltharion can capture a city.<br /><br />We will call this capture legitimate even though <a href="http://www.warherald.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=739">Mythic announced that they are making some changes to the king encounters</a> based on what happened after K8P took down Franz. Tchar'zanek was killed before the new fixes could be implemented.<br /><br />Ironically, this marks EU's second world-first even though <a href="http://wnw.blogwarhammer.net/2009/03/02/the-book-of-grudges-is-growing-heavy/">some EU players feel they are treated as second-class citizens when it comes to <em>WAR</em></a>. Congratulations seem to be in <em>order</em> *cough cough*, so cheers! Oh, and to you NA players... hurry up, why don't ya!?<br /><br />Video after the cut!<br /><br />[<em>Via: <a href="http://biobreak.wordpress.com/2009/04/14/war-battle-of-the-bulge/">Bio Break</a></em>]<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/war-order-bites-back-tearing-down-the-inevitable-city/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WAR: Order bites back, tearing down the Inevitable City</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/15/war-order-bites-back-tearing-down-the-inevitable-city/">WAR: Order bites back, tearing down the Inevitable City</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 10:00:00 EST. This world-first was over six months in the making: One of the realms <a href="http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275570">finally managed to overtake their enemy's capital city</a> in <a href="http://warhammeronline.com"><em>Warhammer Online</em></a> without any known form of exploitation. Destruction of Karak Eight Peaks (EU) defeated Karl Franz over a 14-hour marathon run this weekend and successfully captured Altdorf.<br /><br />In dramatic fashion, the Third Realm alliance finished the necessary public quests gating the king instance with only two minutes remaining. After a number of wipes, they had Franz caged and ready for rotten fruit and vegetable target practice. <a href="http://s54.radikal.ru/i143/0904/f0/67d6f644d6d0.jpg">They were rewarded greatly for their efforts</a>.<br /><br />Taking out the king in <a href="http://massively.com/tag/warhammer-online"><em>WAR</em></a> is no easy feat as it requires hours upon hours and luck upon luck to gain the necessary gear to do so. Hearty congratulations are definitely in order (<em>no pun intended</em>). <a href="http://mythicentertainment.com">Mythic</a> recently announced plans for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/warhammer-getting-a-token-system-for-rvr-gear/">a new token system</a> that should help players get into the necessary warded gear faster than before. However, it's hard to say how long it will be before we hear news of another city capture. Was this sacking a one-off or have the floodgates opened?<br /><br />You can watch a video of the king fight after the cut.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/first-legitimate-city-capture-in-warhammer-online/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>First legitimate city capture in Warhammer Online</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/first-legitimate-city-capture-in-warhammer-online/">First legitimate city capture in Warhammer Online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 06 Apr 2009 12:00:00 EST.
