Maybe you don't want to think about this kind of thing, but you probably should. We're curious, what will happen to your MMO characters, accounts, and online friends if you unexpectedly and unfortunately pass away?

Most people don't consider writing a personal will and testament until they have children. Most people don't consider writing a digital will and testament until, well... ever. If you were to die, would you want your guild to sit around in the dark for days or weeks until they happen to start doing their own research? What about your characters and accounts? Would you want to pass anything along to longtime friends? MMO subscriptions and related gaming expenses (e.g., vent accounts, guild hosting, etc.) don't terminate when you do, so someone will need to cancel them unless you want a few extra charges to pass along to your next of kin. Do you wish to go gently into the night or have a server-wide gathering to pay their respects?

There's really a lot to consider when you think about it, even if it is a little uncomfortable.
The Daily Grind: Do you have a MMO will and testament? originally appeared on Massively on Sat, 12 Sep 2009 08:00:00 EST.
