Many players in the endgame are experiencing debilitating lag, targeting issues in RvR, crashes, and even the inability to log back on to their main characters. A recent crash even created <a href="http://forums.warhammeronline.com/warhammer/board/message?board.id=bug_1-2-1&amp;message.id=916">a rollback situation for some characters</a>, which means they lost everything they had gained over a certain period of time before the crash (from XP and renown to Darkpromise gear).<br /><br />This is an unfortunate situation for Mythic because it seems to be overshadowing many of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/16/war-patch-1-21-may-be-interim-but-its-beefy-taste-surprises/">the great new features in 1.21</a>, such as a new token system for RvR gear and enhanced keep siege options. The living guild interface received a major overhaul as well and many players were reporting that cast lag was nearly abolished before the other issues started cropping up.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/20/a-rocky-start-for-warhammers-1-21-patch/">A rocky start for Warhammer's 1.21 patch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 20 Apr 2009 16:30:00 EST. <a href="http://mythicentertainment.com">Mythic</a> is patching <a href="http://warhammeronline.com"><em>Warhammer</em></a> to 1.21 today, and while the number suggests that it is an interim patch, <a href="http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=741">its beefy flavor suggests otherwise</a>. In true <em>WAR</em> fashion, this new patch boasts a number of big additions and improvements, including upgrades to keep siege, tweaks to combat responsiveness, and a brand new RvR token system.<br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/10/massivelys-war-camp-capturing-and-defending-keeps/">Guilds that claim keeps</a> can now upgrade them in various ways. Players can upgrade doors, add special merchants (e.g., siege, door repair, guild banker, etc.), add special guards, and increase the overall guard patrol sizes. On the other hand, attackers can now use a special new currency called Ordnance to purchase new and improved siege weapons.<br /><br /><a href="http://vnboards.ign.com/warhammer_online_age_of_reckoning_general_board/b22997/110508831/p1/">Combat responsiveness issues</a> have plagued <a href="http://massively.com/tag/warhammer-online"><em>WAR</em></a> since launch and Mythic keeps promising fixes with each new patch. Hopefully, they have nailed it this time around. Players should no longer experience casting bar delays under normal RvR conditions and animations will be improved if everything goes according to plan.<br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/06/warhammer-getting-a-token-system-for-rvr-gear/">Phase one of the token system</a> introduced in 1.21 will focus on the RvR campaign. New medallions and crests will drop off players of appropriate renown throughout all tiers, which can then be exchanged for RvR set gear (e.g., Annihilator, Invader, etc.). Tokens will also be rewarded for capturing keeps, zones, forts, and completing various stages of city siege.<br /><br />For more information on these items and much, much more, read <a href="http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=741">the official 1.21 patch highlights</a> as your client updates.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/16/war-patch-1-21-may-be-interim-but-its-beefy-taste-surprises/">WAR patch 1.21 may be interim, but its beefy taste surprises</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 16 Apr 2009 15:00:00 EST. <a href="http://mythicentertainment.com/">Mythic</a> VP/GM/CEO, <a href="http://massively.com/tag/mark-jacobs">Mark Jacobs</a> just delivered his highly anticipated <a href="http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=693">State of the Game announcement</a> for <a href="http://warhammeronline.com/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Warhammer Online</span></a> one week before the six-month anniversary of its release. Mythic is currently in the midst of <a href="http://massively.com/tag/call-to-arms">Call to Arms</a>, their first live expansion, and recently delivered <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/warhammer-onlines-1-2-patch-might-just-bring-you-back/">a whopping patch</a> that fixed over 500 bugs and introduced two new careers (the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/massively-re-arms-for-war-slayer/">Slayer</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/03/massively-re-arms-for-war-meet-da-choppa/">Choppa</a>).<br /> <br /> Mark states that the next iteration in this series of patches (1.21) will fix 400+ more bugs, attempt to balance the careers even further, and deliver more new content. The 1.21 patch will launch next month. Details on their 1.3 patch are a bit foggy, but they may deal with items from the following list, which Mark calls the "<span style="font-style: italic;">Eleven Enticing Enhancements</span>" list for <span style="font-style: italic;">WAR:<br /><br /> </span>
<ul>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Client/Server performance in RvR</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Bug &amp; Polish</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Open RvR in general</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Keeps in general</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Keep Defense</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Battlefield Objectives</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Zone Capture</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Zone Capture rewards</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">City Raiding for fun and profit</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Career Balancing</span></li>
    <li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Scenarios<span style="font-style: italic;"></span></span></li>
</ul>
Finally, Mark touches upon the progress being made with the new <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/01/29/mega-dungeon-called-the-lands-of-the-dead-coming-to-warhammer-on/">Tomb Kings themed dungeon</a>. Fans of <a href="http://darkageofcamelot.com/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Dark Age of Camelot</span></a> will not only find it reminiscent of <a href="http://massively.com/tag/darkness-falls">Darkness Falls</a>, they will also find some new and exhilarating experiences. If any of these things pique your interest, you could always give the game a try with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/war-gets-an-official-free-trial-in-na-europe-and-oceania/"><span style="font-style: italic;">WAR</span>'s 10-day free trial</a>.<br /> <span style="font-style: italic;"></span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/11/mark-jacobs-on-war-6-month-state-of-the-game/">Mark Jacobs on WAR 6-month state of the game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 11 Mar 2009 14:30:00 EST.
