A substantial number of changes will be made to <a href="http://www.eveonline.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> tomorrow with the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/dominion"><em>Dominion</em></a> 1.1 patch. The supercarrier changes and introduction of fighter bombs coming in 1.1 were originally slated for the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/01/massivelys-eve-dominion-launch-day-roundup/"><em>Dominion</em> expansion's launch last month</a> but had to be postponed. Beyond the changes impacting <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a>'s capital ship pilots, <a href="http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Sovereignty_guide">nullsec warfare</a> will be affected by how CCP is altering the stats of Sovereignty structures. (<a href="http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Territorial_Claim_Unit">Territorial Control Units</a> will receive increased hitpoints with reduced onlining time, likewise <a href="http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/Sovereignty_Blockade_Unit">Sovereignty Blockade Units</a> are getting a defensive buff.)<br />
<br />
New features are being introduced as well, like voice fonts for the <a href="http://www.vivox.com">Vivox</a>-powered EVE Voice. According to the latest patch notes:<em> "This new feature will allow you to alter your voice during chat to increase or lower pitch or to change from male to female voices. This is certainly not going to be abused in any way." </em><br />
<br />
Stick with us past the jump for some highlights of how <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE Online</em></a> will change tomorrow.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/eves-dominion-1-1-patch-to-bring-supercarrier-changes-fighter/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE's Dominion 1.1 patch to bring supercarrier changes, fighter bombers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/01/20/eves-dominion-1-1-patch-to-bring-supercarrier-changes-fighter/">EVE's Dominion 1.1 patch to bring supercarrier changes, fighter bombers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 20 Jan 2010 19:00:00 EST. Access to the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> website and forums will be down for much of this time, as will the <em>EVE</em> API, but <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ccp-games">CCP Games</a> has compiled a tome of <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp"><em>Dominion</em> patch notes</a> to occupy at least some of that time. We also recommend checking out <a href="http://www.twitter.com/casiella">Casiella</a>'s take on the <em>Dominion</em> patch notes over at the <a href="http://rift.chromebits.net/2009/11/28/dominion-patch-notes-review/">Ecliptic Rift</a> blog. Casiella discusses the myriad features that haven't gotten much attention so far: voice fonts added to <em>EVE</em> Voice in chat channels; the in-game jukebox now using MP3s with playlist support; and how player actions for the Caldari race via <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/factional-warfare">factional warfare</a> now impact the rival Gallente storyline missions.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/11/30/eve-dominion-patch-notes-long-but-packed-with-info-on-game-chang/">EVE Dominion patch notes long but packed with info on game changes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 30 Nov 2009 18:00:00 EST. That's time actively engaged in a voice session, not just time spent with voice support enabled. That's quite a statistic. That puts <a href="http://secondlife.com/"><em>Second Life's</em></a> voice service right up there among the top VoIP providers, and around 12% of Skype. That's very impressive.</p>
<p>In the 18 months since voice was introduced, roughly 15 billion voice-minutes have been served, through Vivox's voice services for <em>Second Life</em>. Additionally there are new products/services. Some available from today, and some scheduled for later this year.</p><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/05/20/second-life-racks-up-1-billion-voice-minutes-last-month-linden/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Second Life racks up 1 billion voice minutes last month. While new details on this title are still light, <a href="http://www.vivox.com">Vivox</a> announced today that they'll be providing voice solutions for <em>APB</em>. <br /><br />The integration of Vivox with the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/all-points-bulletin"><em>All Points Bulletin</em></a> client will include voice fonts, where players will be able to alter their voices to better fit their character. They've teamed up with <a href="http://www.vivox.com/">a company called Vivox</a> to not only bring integrated voice chat into all of their games, but also some features that MMO players have never even dreamed of. Vivox says they'll be able to bring voicemail into games, join raid chats via landline or cell phone, and even use voice manipulation over the connection.<br /><br />Apparently the voice chat service will be also available <a href="http://archive.burningsea.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43670">just through Sony's Launcher</a>, so you won't need to be in-game to use the applications. Gamers will have buddy lists, and games will all have volume controls and channel controls, but the other features they brag about apparently won't be available at launch-- while voice and guild chat channels will be available right away, the other features, like voicemail and "voice fonts," are only "anticipated" for later. Still, John Smedley, SOE President, is quoted in the release as being excited about bringing the two services together, so only time will tell how it will all work.<br /><br />Time, and our interviews, that is. Massively has a few correspondents on the floor at GDC right now, and we are planning to speak with both Vivox and SOE before the end of the week. Stay tuned for more on these services and just what they'll entail for players in-game.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/gdc-08-soe-goes-voice-chat-crazy/">GDC08: SOE goes voice chat crazy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 20 Feb 2008 17:45:00 EST.
