What would you do if you had developers for a highly anticipated MMO on video chat with your fansite's community? The correct answer is "Pump them for all the information you can, then see if you can't get a first glimpse of said game in action."<br />
<br />
PlanetSide Universe scored 1000 points this past weekend with that answer, as the site's <a href="http://www.planetside-universe.com/agn/news-community-night-november-2011-recording-2620.htm">community night video podcast</a> covering <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/planetside-2"><em>PlanetSide 2</em></a> turned into an informational bonanza for the game's fans. The hosts talked to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/soe/">SOE's</a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/matt-higby/">Matt Higby</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/tramell-isaac/">Tramell Isaac</a> about PS2's maps and vehicle customization while also getting a tour around the team's offices and a couple segments of in-game footage showing off <em>PlanetSide 2's</em> engine.<br />
<br />
The fansite also netted a pair of new pictures showing off the impressive Vanguard tanks, which you can check out in the gallery below. The full community night podcast is after the jump, but you might want to put on a bib beforehand to catch all the drool!<br />

Lieutenant, take the helm! It's time for another edition of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/captains-log/">Captain's Log</a>, our regular foray into the farthest reaches of <a href="http://www.startrekonline.com/"><em>Star Trek Online</em></a>. The big bombshell of the week -- no, not <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/07/the-daily-grind-real-id-do-we-finally-have-our-wow-killer/">that one</a> -- has left your humble captain with a serious case of <a href="http://www.shasta.com/suesgoodco/newcivilians/faq/qvapors.htm">the vapors</a>, so allow me a moment to collect myself. <br />
<br />
Unless you've been hiding on the holodeck for days -- a wise choice, <a href="http://www.newsweek.com/2010/07/07/surfing-the-summer-heat-wave.html">given the circumstances</a> here on Earth -- you surely have heard the news: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-trek-online/"><em>STO</em></a> Executive Producer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Craig-Zinkievich/">Craig Zinkievich</a> is <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/01/craig-zinkievich-leaving-star-trek-onlines-bridge/">gone, baby, gone</a>. According to Zinkievich's <a href="http://startrekonline.com/node/1875/">farewell letter</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Daniel-Stahl/">Daniel Stahl</a>, formerly a producer on <em>STO</em>, has taken the helm in his place. <br />
<br />
I thought we'd briefly discuss Zinkievich's departure before moving on Stahl's <a href="http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/?p=2243">recent video interview</a> with the <a href="http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/">STOked podcast crew</a>, where he dropped some delicious hints about future content and provided insight into his mindset as <em>STO's</em> head honcho.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/08/captains-log-pondering-star-trek-onlines-executive-shakeup/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Captain's Log: Pondering Star Trek Online's executive shakeup</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/08/captains-log-pondering-star-trek-onlines-executive-shakeup/">Captain's Log: Pondering Star Trek Online's executive shakeup</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 08 Jul 2010 12:00:00 EST. <br />
We're going to find out from the man himself, thanks to the <a href="http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/?cat=377">STOked video podcast</a> -- they'll be releasing the very first interview with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/daniel-stahl">Daniel Stahl</a> today. Episode 41 will feature his plans for the future of the game and his thoughts on fan reactions to his new position. The video will also include general <em>STO</em> news and a community feedback feature.<br />

<em><a href="http://www.apb.com">All Points Bulletin's</a></em> 12th video podcast sees the conclusion of the Mark Rein walkthrough and an informative Q&amp;A with the game's design lead, EJ Moreland. Some of the questions are things we already knew but bore repeating, like that the game is going to be PC only for its first release.<br /><br />There's new information in there, too. Like the fact that a car you design cannot be stolen from you while driving it, unlike a car you steal from a pedestrian. There's also talk about player and clan housing as future additions to the game.<br /><br />We think the video podcasts are a great way to clear the air of any misconceptions while simultaneously giving the community a chance to meet the people designing the game they so very much want to play. So hopefully we'll be seeing more of these in the coming weeks leading up to wider beta and eventually, launch.<br /><br />Check out the video after the break.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/all-points-bulletin-podcast-12-delivers-community-qanda/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>All Points Bulletin podcast #12 delivers community Q&amp;A</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/all-points-bulletin-podcast-12-delivers-community-qanda/">All Points Bulletin podcast #12 delivers community Q&amp;A</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 16 Oct 2009 13:00:00 EST. <div align="left">The next video in the <a href="http://www.aiononline.com"><em>Aion</em></a> podcast series is up, and this time the staff speaks on the differences in how the Western and Eastern markets perceive gameplay, and how <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/aion"><em>Aion</em></a> manages to stretch their Tower of Eternity across both markets.</div>
<div align="left"><br />According to the podcast, the team has designed <em>Aion</em> with a global mindset -- such as tempering the experience grind with story and adapting the graphics to straddle the cultural preferences of both markets. We <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/09/07/pax-2009-massivelys-first-look-at-gameplay-in-all-points-bulle/">learned a bit more about the game at PAX 2009</a> but we're always hoping to find out more. Fortunately, the company released a new video podcast today filmed at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/gamescom-2009">GamesCom 2009</a> in Cologne that many of our readers have been waiting for -- one with actual gameplay.<br /><br />The series of videos released prior to this focused on the extensive customization options <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/all-points-bulletin"><em>All Points Bulletin</em></a> will offer. Although we see quite a bit of <a href="http://mrtoledano.com/frame_videogamers.php">gameface</a> from the audience in this latest video podcast, we also see a bit more of that attention to detail emphasized in the previous video footage playing out in the mean streets of the waterfront district. Among other things, the footage shows some very detailed gun animations w. shell ejects and, unsurprisingly, a lot of polish on the look of the vehicles. The user interface is also rather unobtrusive, particularly with the clear compass to guide players. <br /><br />Interested in checking it out? We've got an HD video embed of <a href="http://www.apb.com/2009/09/14/apb-podcast-episode-9-viva-cologne/">APB Video Podcast 9: Viva Cologne</a> for you after the jump.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/09/14/all-points-bulletin-video-podcast-a-first-look-at-gameplay/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>All Points Bulletin video podcast a first look at gameplay</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/09/14/all-points-bulletin-video-podcast-a-first-look-at-gameplay/">All Points Bulletin video podcast a first look at gameplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 14 Sep 2009 16:00:00 EST. The <a href="http://www.apb.com"><em>APB</em></a> developers over at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/realtime-worlds">Realtime Worlds</a> are continuing their behind the scenes video podcast series in episode 8, "<a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/358/view/videos/play/1489/All-Points-Bulletin-Video-Podcast-8.html">Spoiler Alert</a>." No, no, they're not talking about storyline spoilers or people who scream "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Watchmen#Ozymandias_.28Adrian_Veidt.29">Ozymandias</a> did it!" when they come out of <a href="http://watchmenmovie.warnerbros.com/dvd/index.html">Watchmen</a>. (Yes, I'm that evil.) They're talking about car spoilers.<br /><br />This week the crew goes out to the <a href="http://www.scottishmodifiedcars.com/">Scottish Modified Car Show</a>, all in order to point out how much customization is available for cars in the game. From decals, to new parts, to color, all of the cars in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/all-points-bulletin"><em>APB</em></a> will have some extreme customization options that will allow players to really express themselves. Well, express themselves more past shooting one another over and over while slinging taunts.<br /><br />The full video is available for <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/358/view/videos/play/1489/All-Points-Bulletin-Video-Podcast-8.html">your viewing pleasure</a> at MMORPG.com.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/the-next-apb-behind-the-scenes-video-podcast-is-online/">The next APB behind the scenes video podcast is online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 12 Aug 2009 11:00:00 EST. We mentioned an earlier video that focused on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/19/all-points-bulletin-video-podcast-shows-off-scope-of-customizati/">customization options players will have</a>, but <a href="http://www.realtimeworlds.com/">Realtime Worlds</a> is taking that a step further in their latest video podcast, which walks the viewer through the layer-based symbol customization players will use in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/all-points-bulletin"><em>All Points Bulletin</em></a>.<br /><br />The demonstration from senior concept artist Jon Stockwell shows how simple it is to create and manipulate layers in a symbol, resulting in your own unique look. As the video shows, that symbol can be applied to characters in the form of tattoos or graphics on clothing, and even used to detail your vehicles. Have a look at the video we've embedded for you below, and let us know what you think.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/05/all-points-bulletin-video-podcast-shows-off-symbol-creation-and/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>All Points Bulletin video podcast shows off symbol creation and character customization</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/05/all-points-bulletin-video-podcast-shows-off-symbol-creation-and/">All Points Bulletin video podcast shows off symbol creation and character customization</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 05 Jul 2009 16:00:00 EST. Massively <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/07/e3-2009-apb-lead-designer-ej-moreland-on-player-customization/">interviewed APB lead designer EJ Moreland</a> who gave us some perspective on what the title will be like, but we're always looking out for more info. On that note, the <em>All Points Bulletin</em> game site revamp was accompanied by a new series of video podcasts, the second of which is now out. <br /><br />This <a href="http://www.apb.com/2009/06/15/apb-podcast-episode-2-e3-and-beyond/">second <em>All Points Bulletin</em> video podcast</a> "E3 and Beyond" has Chris "Deum" Collins from the <em>APB</em> community team speaking with lead gameplay designer Jesse Knapp about the game's extensive customization options, and is in two parts. Actually it's largely a montage of the E3 customization videos with commentary from the <em>APB</em> devs, where they answer questions posed to them by the game's fans. It's a great look at what's possible in the game and we highly recommend you give it a look.
