Lips are unsealed as NDA drops for MechWarrior online
Folks eager to hear about MechWarrior Online but who were unable to nab a beta spot can now tackle any friends who did to get the scoop! Pirahna Games has obliterated the NDA, allowing players to share their experiences piloting large mechanized warriors through various landscapes in this sci-fi PvP game.

Players can also show off their mad skillz in a video and screenshot contest -- devs will pick their favorite submissions to highlight on the front page of the official site. Entries should be sent to submissions@infinitegamepublishing.com before 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 10th. More contest details can be found on the game's official website.

Firefall
Firefall is looking for a few aspiring video editors to shower with fame and fortune (mostly the fortune). If you have the skills and talent to cut together a captivating trailer for Firefall, you could be on the receiving end of a juiced-up laptop or a posh trip to PAX East.

In the Firefall Battleframe Trailer Challenge, Red 5 Studios is rewarding creative editors with a good eye for taking raw Firefall gameplay footage and shaping it into an exciting commercial for the game. Entrants are instructed to post these on YouTube, as Red 5 will take into account the likes and views of each video when making its final decision.

Videos have to be submitted by March 16th, at which time Red 5 will select the best three trailers for luxurious prizes. The first place winner will get a trip for two to PAX East -- along with hotel accommodations and $500 spending money. Second place nets a spiffy Alienware M14x laptop, and third place will enjoy a Firefall-themed ASTRO gaming headset.

For everyone else, A Casual Stroll to Mordor is calling on creative talents to come up with fun "I am a rockstar" videos for Lord of the Rings Online -- and the site is willing to pay handsomely for the best efforts. Players are tasked with making a rock star-themed commercial, which can be any shade of serious or funny, and submitting it for a chance to win in-game store cash. Two Turbine Point cards, valued at 2500 and 1500 TP, are up for the first and second place winners.

Five years is a long time to spend riding a dragon.
For better or worse, free-to-play games are often seen as having a rather disposable lifespan, with the expectation that they'll be here today and gone tomorrow. And that's certainly true in some cases, but in the case of Rappelz, it's entirely wrong. Not only is the game still running strong, but it's been running for five years, quite a milestone for any game. Fans of the game are likely unsurprised that the game is celebrating in a big way, and that celebration starts today with a video contest and a 55% boost to experience.

The experience boost will last until October 5th and is just the tip of the iceberg for a series of events that lead up to the game's true anniversary of November 2nd. Players can also take part in a video contest to show off their in-game pets, with the winners receiving gaming headsets and one grand prize winner getting a free bundle of cash in the game's shop. Rappelz players are going to have a couple of months to enjoy all of the celebrations, so if you've been itching to log back in of late, now is the time.

On April 28th, ArenaNet announced a contest titled Become a Guild Wars 2 Ambassador, sending fans into a tizzy at the prospect of winning a free trip to Seattle to play Guild Wars 2 in the ArenaNet studio.

The entry videos needed to be one minute in length, and ArenaNet received over 500 entries equaling more than eight hours of video. There was a lot of great work to sift through, but the team has finally chosen its winners -- including two grand prize winners who will soon be Seattle-bound.

Dan from the United States and Leo from Iceland carried off top honors in the contest, each offering a different perspective. The ArenaNet team loved Leo's video because it's both fun and informative for those "who have little to no knowledge of Guild Wars 2." Dan's hilarious News Report entry "presented a lot of information about Guild Wars 2 in a persuasive, fun, and original way."

The company has challenged its fans to make a one-minute promotional video that tells why they think people should play Guild Wars 2 at launch. Two people will win the grand prize: a trip to Seattle to visit the ArenaNet studio, hang out with the development team, and play some Guild Wars 2.

Runner-up prizes include two custom Guild Wars 2 computer towers, three Nvidia video cards, and 10 signed copies of the Guild Wars 2 art book.

Hi-Rez Studios' Global Agenda is that rare MMO that manages to combine player skill, team tactics, and accessibility, all in one spiffy spy-fi package. While newer players have ample time to learn the ins and outs of squad-based combat over the course of the game's 50 levels, competent agents are few and far between when it comes to high-level merc PvP.

To the rescue comes Hi-Rez's new Agent Training contest, in which skilled Global Agenda vets may compete for $200 in prize money for producing the best instructional video in both the objective-based PvP and boss fight PvE categories.

The contest kicks off today, and entries (which are limited to a maximum of two minutes running time) will be accepted through April 15th. Winners in both categories will take home the prize money, and the victors will be announced on April 29th. There are a few other requirements (including voiceover and resolution guidelines), which you can read about on the official Global Agenda website.

The Pirates of the Burning Sea video contest that we looked at a few weeks ago has drawn to a close, and a winning video has been selected. The aim of the contest was to create a video that could explain the process of boarding other ships to a new player, with a graphics card on offer for the winner.

Embedded above is the winning entry, from PotBS player Al "AlanB" Bradbury. It does a great job of outlining the boarding rules of thumb, and is an entertaining piece to boot, thanks to the surly pirate teacher and his interrupting parrot companion. New video contests from Flying Lab Software will be coming up in the future, giving players more chances to win prizes and show off their video creations.
