<em><a href="http://www.massively.com/category/dark-age-of-camelot">Dark Age of Camelot's</a></em> Valentine's Day event is still in full swing, but the devs over at <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/mythic-entertainment">Mythic Entertainment</a> have plenty more in store for players. <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/stuart-zissu">Stuart Zissu</a>, <em>DAoC</em>'s producer, stopped by the official site to give players a heads-up as to what they can expect in upcoming updates. For starters, the next phase of the ongoing live event will be coming sometime "in the next few months," and players are warned that the Pict encampments they've already encountered are only the tip of the proverbial iceberg.<br />
<br />
On top of that, the devs will be adding a number of new titles throughout the year that center on the long-running title's 10th anniversary. Zissu adds that "there will also be new titles for the next phase of the live event" as well as a special trophy commemorating <em>Dark Age of Camelot</em>'s 10 years of RvRvR action. For more information, including details on <em>DAoC</em>'s first video contest, just click on through the link below and give the post a look.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/15/dark-age-of-camelot-producers-letter-looks-toward-the-future/">Dark Age of Camelot producer's letter looks toward the future</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 15 Feb 2012 20:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.mag.com"><em>MAG</em></a>'s official launch was <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/01/26/the-daily-grind-what-mag-faction-are-you/">only a few days ago</a>, but developer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/zipper-interactive">Zipper Interactive</a> is already explaining some of the benefits to having a high level character in the MMOFPS. Players who hit the level cap of 60 can enable "Veteran Mode", which <a href="http://www.zipperint.com">Zipper Interactive</a> has mentioned <a href="http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/01/mag-beta-vs-final-game/">in the past</a>. Now, they've clarified what exactly the advantages to doing so are in a blog post -- essentially it's an incentive to reroll once you've maxed out your character, and experience more of the game. <br />
<br />
If you're looking to try something new, you'll be able to keep your past accomplishments (medals, ribbons, and related stats) when you reset your character to level 1. Even though your experience counter resets to zero, your lifetime experience will show everything you've ever earned -- a permanent record viewable on the stats page of your barracks. Players after trophies for hitting max level in all private military companies (PMCs) in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/mag"><em>MAG</em></a> will want to take advantage of Veteran Mode and the experience boost it imparts. Veteran Mode gives players a permanent 10% bonus added to the experience total for each match, provided that players sticks through the entire round. Other players can easily recognize a Veteran by the gold insignia displayed beneath that character's rank. While we suspect it'll be a while before most players hit that level cap, Zipper Interactive <a href="http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/01/veteran-mode-an-explanation/">detailed <em>MAG</em>'s Veteran Mode on the game's official blog</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/01/29/mags-veteran-mode-explained/">MAG's Veteran Mode explained</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 29 Jan 2010 22:00:00 EST. In many MMOGs, there appears to be a plague of seemingly useless items you find along your travels. These usually include various animal parts in some disgustingly descriptive state. Many of these items are simply merchant fodder, but there are a fair majority of them which are <a href="http://www.lotroalliance.com/recipes.php">used in crafting</a>. The frustrating part is discovering which ones are worth the 25 copper the merchant gives you, and which ones are worth 5 gold to another player at the auction house.<br /><br />In <a href="http://www.lotro.com"><span style="font-style: italic;">Lord of the Rings Online</span></a>, this can be especially confusing because you're even teased a bit in the item's description. "This item can be used in crafting" is a frustrating statement, because you're torn between saving the item for a potentially useful rare opportunity in future crafting, or selling it for a few silver and that precious extra inventory slot.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/a-lotro-guide-to-the-new-rare-crafting-trophies/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A LotRO guide to the new rare crafting trophies</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/11/a-lotro-guide-to-the-new-rare-crafting-trophies/">A LotRO guide to the new rare crafting trophies</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 13:00:00 EST. Before the <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/lord-of-the-rings-online">Lord of the Rings Online</a></em> team rolls out <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/mines-of-moria">their first expansion</a>, there are still two more free content patches coming down the pike. The first one of those two is <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/book-13">Book 13</a>, Doom of the Last King being released later this week. It introduces not only a new part of Middle-earth, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/11/more-information-on-book-13s-forochel-region/">Forochel</a>, but also a healing class to Player vs Monster Play, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/18/introducing-the-orc-defiler/">the Orc Defiler</a>, and the first Hobby in the game, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/16/teach-a-man-to-fish/">Fishing</a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-13-tour/762566/">Click on the first image</a> below to join us for a walkthrough of Forochel, meet the ice people of the area, the Lossoth and get a look at the new features and monsters coming to the game. They released brand new screenshots covering three of the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/lotro-book-12-patch-notes-land-on-the-test-server/">many features being implemented in this patch</a>: Amarthiel's redesign, new boss-dropped trophy decorations and the outfit system.<br /><br />If you've gone through the Book 10 epic quest line, you'll know Amarthiel well. She's the sorceress with the palanitr you had to track down with the aid of crazy Sara Oakheart. The three screenshots provided show a new and improved Amarthiel in all her megalomaniacal glory.<br /><br />The housing decoration options shown in four of the screenies are the new trophies that will be dropping from Middle-earth's boss mobs in Book 12. These trophies can then be displayed in the players house or, more likely, the Guild Hall. We can see so far a mannequin holding up <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/610818/">a suit of armor</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/611316/">two swords mounted on a wall</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/611318/">an outdoor trophy</a> in the shape of a monument and, finally <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/610823/">a head on a pike</a> (or the Elven babe lounging on the bed, we're not sure which one is the prize).<br /><br />The <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/21/lotro-outfit-system-and-barbershop-details-revealed/">new cosmetic outfits</a> that your character can put over their battle gear are also on display in six screenshots. They spotlight many different races and classes and now they no longer looking like patchwork dolls. Some of these new clothes will be crafted, other items can be vendor purchased. If you look closely at the the picture of the Elf outside the Guild Hall, you'll see <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/611318/">one of the new quiver models</a> on his back.<br /><br />When this patch goes live it will only be a matter of time before we see the first screenshot of a raid party confronting the Balrog in pretty pink dresses.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/">Lord of the Rings Online Book 12 Gallery</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/#630043"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/lotro-book12-epic-solo-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/#630042"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/lotro-book12-epic-solo-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/#630041"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/lotro-book12-epic-solo-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/#630040"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/lotro-book12-epic-solo-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/lord-of-the-rings-online-book-12-gallery/#620474"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/elrond_pose_a_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Elrond of Rivendell" title="Elrond of Rivendell" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/29/new-book-12-screens-released-by-turbine/">New Book 12 screens released by Turbine</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 29 Jan 2008 13:00:00 EST.
