If the eeriness of the truce between the Elyos and the Asmodians in <a href="http://na.aiononline.com/"><em>Aion's</em></a> new land of Sarpan wigs you out and makes you long for a good old-fashioned tussle, you can always head on over to Tiamaranta. Although the entire zone is not open for PvP, all four corners and the center are cordoned off for your <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/12/05/wings-over-atreia-in-defense-of-pvp-a-carebears-conversion/">opponent-bashing pleasure</a>. In fact, Tiamaranta's Eye is often hopping as both sides contest mobs and try to land one of the bosses.<br />
<br />
But even if you aren't in the mood for a bloody round of patty-cake, there is plenty of PvE and exploring to be had in this ecologically diverse land with a variety of new mobs to see (and dispatch) and new tasks to accomplish. Not able to make the trip yourself right now? Join <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/wings-over-atreia">Wings over Atreia's</a> guided tour and get a taste of Tiamaranta.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/aion-ascension/">Aion: Ascension</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/aion-ascension/#5034805"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/1-1337549128_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/aion-ascension/#5034807"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/2-1337549129_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/aion-ascension/#5034812"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/4-1337549132_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/aion-ascension/#5034863"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/29-1337549172_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/aion-ascension/#5034860"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/26-1337549167_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/wings-over-atreia-touring-tiamaranta/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Wings Over Atreia: Touring Tiamaranta</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/21/wings-over-atreia-touring-tiamaranta/">Wings Over Atreia: Touring Tiamaranta</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 21 May 2012 18:00:00 EST. Lion's Arch was a staple city in the original <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Guild-Wars/">Guild Wars</a></em>, so its presence 250 years later in <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Guild-Wars-2/">Guild Wars 2</a></em> excites many hardcore fans of the lore. In this last weekend's beta event for <em>Guild Wars 2</em>, participants got to see the new Lion's Arch for the first time, answering several questions about its appearance and function in this more modern Tyria.<br />
<br />
Our own <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/richieprocopio">Richie Procopio</a> ventured into Lion's Arch to grab some video footage for those who didn't get a chance to see the city during the crazy weekend. The video shows a walk-through of the major features, including some amazing bird's-eye views and even a bit of the city at night. Click past the cut to watch the entire video.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/30/see-guild-wars-2s-lions-arch-for-the-first-time/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>See Guild Wars 2's Lion's Arch for the first time</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/30/see-guild-wars-2s-lions-arch-for-the-first-time/">See Guild Wars 2's Lion's Arch for the first time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 30 Apr 2012 11:30:00 EST. The sunsetting of <em><a href="http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/players/index.vm">Star Wars Galaxies</a></em>. Beyond the obvious, that statement holds more meaning for me, something deeper and more personal. See, throughout my years in <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-galaxies">SWG</a>,</em> I would often stop whatever I was doing just to sit and watch the Tatooine suns set. Honestly. Just a simple act of sitting upon the plateau -- sometimes alone, sometimes with friends -- quietly watching one of the universe's greatest pleasures inside an MMO. It was amazing to me how vibrant this galaxy was, filled with so many little details that breathed life into it in a way that I think is still unmatched. Details such as sunsets made the world real, but what really made it "home" was the housing.<br />
<br />
Few, if any, games can claim the mastery of housing that <em>Galaxies</em> attained. Quite frankly, it is still the standard by which I measure housing. And there is almost no way to sum it up and do it justice in one short article. Despite this challenge, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/some-assembly-required/">Some Assembly Required</a> dedicates this 12th issue to immortalizing (and hopefully prodding future developers to emulate) one of the greatest housing systems ever and highlighting the very thing that made this great feature phenomenal: incredible player ingenuity and creativity.<br />
<br />
But don't just take my word for it. A number of readers joined in and sent in screenshots of and waypoints to these expressions of creativity. So step on over the threshold for our tribute in word and image to <em>SWG</em> housing and the player creativity it engendered.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/12/09/some-assembly-required-swg-housing-extravaganza/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Some Assembly Required: SWG housing extravaganza</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/12/09/some-assembly-required-swg-housing-extravaganza/">Some Assembly Required: SWG housing extravaganza</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 09 Dec 2011 12:00:00 EST. Being given a full tour of your favorite MMO studio must be a lot like finding the Golden Ticket and getting a week pass to Disney World, all rolled into one. So if you feel a little jealous that <a href="http://www.wildstarsource.com/page/index.html/_/articles/carbine-studios-a-tour-of-wildstar-r57">WildStar Source</a> got to poke around <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/carbine-studios">Carbine Studios</a>, it's understandable.<br />
<br />
While the writer who was given the tour said that he had to "stay silent on 99%" of what he saw, there are plenty of juicy tidbits for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/wildstar/"><em>WildStar</em></a> aficionados to tide us over for a while. Apparently the studio is covered with gorgeous screenshots and art from the game, and the team is already busy collecting fan art to post in the hallways.<br />
<br />
The author did get some hands-on time with the game, during which he spent exploring the world instead of killing the local flora and fauna: "While I did not find a secret treasure or a portal to another dimension, I did find an attention to detail in both my character and the surrounding world that made me pause, several times, in appreciation... Even while playing as a spell-wielding bunny-woman who was trapped on a fictional planet, what I found most engrossing when I got my hands on <em>WildStar </em>was really the humanness of it all... as corny as that may sound."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/12/09/lucky-fan-gets-a-super-secret-tour-of-wildstars-carbine-studios/">Lucky fan gets a super-secret tour of WildStar's Carbine Studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 09 Dec 2011 09:00:00 EST. For months, <a href="http://www.everquest2.com"><em>EverQuest II</em></a> fans have been patiently waiting for the launch date of the latest expansion, <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Age-of-Discovery/">Age of Discovery</a></em>. Fortunately, the wait is over: SOE has announced that Tuesday, December 6th is the official live date for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/everquest-ii/"><em>EQII's</em></a> free-to-play transition, the <em>Age of Discovery</em>, and the Freeport Reborn game update (GU62). Executive Producer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/dave-georgeson/">Dave "SmokeJumper" Georgeson</a> and <em>EQII </em>Associate Producer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Emily-Taylor/">Emily "Domino" Taylor</a> both took time to give Massively a tour of some of the new features, so read on for an up-close look at Beastlords, the new Freeport, mercenaries, and the dungeon maker, and check out some new screenshots in our gallery below!<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-screenshots/">EverQuest II Age of Discovery Screenshots</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-screenshots/#4642714"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/beastlorddarkelfandbearfightingnaga_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-screenshots/#4642715"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/beastlordhalfling_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-screenshots/#4642716"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/beastlordtamingstag_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-screenshots/#4642717"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/darkelfbeastlord_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-screenshots/#4642718"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/11/darkelfbeastlord2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-launch-date/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EverQuest II Age of Discovery launch date, new features revealed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/11/29/everquest-ii-age-of-discovery-launch-date/">EverQuest II Age of Discovery launch date, new features revealed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 29 Nov 2011 19:00:00 EST. Excited for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/lord-of-the-rings-online"><em>Lord of the Rings Online:</em></a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/rise-of-isengard/"><em>Rise of Isengard's</em></a> release, which is just a little over a week away? Us too, and you know how it is when you're jazzed about the future -- you want to devour every piece of info about it you can find.<br />
<br />
That's why the good folks at <a href="http://www.casualstrolltomordor.com/">A Casual Stroll to Mordor</a> (now with 45% more Lembas bread) have decided to treat us to a stunning seven-and-a-half minute visual tour through the expansion's Dunland region. Set to classical music, the tour gives you a good idea of some of the varied and detailed locales we'll be encountering when <em>Isengard </em>goes live on September 27th.<br />
<br />
So kick up your feet and hit the jump for a relaxing preview of the next evolution of the <em>LotRO</em> journey!<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/09/17/a-visual-tour-through-lotros-dunland/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>A visual tour through LotRO's Dunland</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/09/17/a-visual-tour-through-lotros-dunland/">A visual tour through LotRO's Dunland</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 17 Sep 2011 18:00:00 EST. <em>Captain's Log, Stardate 64692.8...</em><br />
<br />
Hello, computer (and players). The following information has been marked classified and restricted by <a href="http://memory-alpha.org/wiki/Starfleet_Intelligence" target="_blank">Starfleet Intelligence</a>; any leaks will not be tolerated -- eh, forget it! Welcome to MassivelyLeaks! As you may or may not know, I had an <em>exclusive</em> opportunity to visit <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/cryptic" target="_blank">Cryptic Studios</a> in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Gatos,_California" target="_blank">Los Gatos, California</a> last month. Since I'm arguably one of <a href="http://www.startrekonline.com/" target="_blank"><em>Star Trek Online's</em></a> biggest fanboys, this was a dream come true (/e squeal), and I am still in shock that I was in the very cubicles where the game is made.<br />
<br />
Tucked away in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, Los Gatos is a small town in Santa Clara County (better known as Silicon Valley), just southwest of San Jose. It is hard to believe that the entire Star Trek universe is currently one of its residents. But it is -- I've seen it with my own eyes, and I am excited to share my experience with you.<br />

One of the weaknesses that players have always associated with <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a> is the nature of combat within the game. Not that any fan will avoid telling you how fun it is -- but even the most ardent defender can't avoid pointing out that it does tend to be a bit slow. The actual battles run slower, abilities take longer to recharge, and the process of getting into the combat takes a great deal longer than it does in other games. You can't just jump into the game and expect to be off and fighting within a few minutes.<br />
<br />
At least, that was the case before the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/June-Version-Update/">June Version Update</a>. Three of the biggest additions to the game were designed to take that notion and throw it out the window, not only encouraging players to jump into violence but outright pushing you toward faster and more active combat. We had a chance to take a walk through the game's additions, and they were everything that was promised and more, enough to make any <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Final-Fantasy-XI/">Final Fantasy XI</a></em> player very happy indeed with the changing face of the endgame.<br />

It just may be the dream of every MMO geek to command the attention of his or her favorite dev team, bombard them with questions, and be shown secrets previously kept behind closed doors. Well, my friends, today that dream came true for this geek, as Turbine graciously sat down with Massively for over two hours to conduct an all-access tour to the fall's hot new <em><a href="http://www.lotro.com/">LotRO</a> </em>content -- including the details behind the controversial and anticipated F2P switch. Aaron Campbell (Producer), Allan Maki (Senior Designer), Elliot Gilman (Senior Designer), Brian Aloisio (Designer), Joseph Barry (Designer) and Jonathan Rudder (Lore Guru) were on hand to fly me through the new content -- and reveal a few big surprises.<br />
<br />
To say that I had questions is an understatement; I fear that I sounded a bit like a six-year-old who peppers parents with unending "Why?" queries. Expecting to hear "no comment" a lot (after all, this content <em>is </em>in beta), I was surprised when the Turbine team enthusiastically answered all of my questions and then some. This is a team who know this F2P move is bringing some apprehension and concern, and they're trying to assuage that with as much information as possible.<br />

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the home of <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a>: Icarus Studios in Cary, North Carolina. While the 8-hour drive through the mountains of North Carolina was certainly gorgeous, hanging out with the people who make <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/fallen-earth"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> was a treat in itself. Rarely will you find a group of more down-to-earth, creative and passionate people as you'll find in an independent game studio.<br />
<br />
So I brought my trusty camcorder to capture everything for the Massively readers. We talked about Patch 1.5, the new Assault PvP, the weather system, the companion app (as seen in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/06/08/fallen-earth-mobile-app-goes-live/">a separate video</a>), answered <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/21/community-qanda-send-your-questions-in-for-the-fallen-earth-devs/">the questions you submitted</a> and much more. Eight years doesn't sound like a very long time unless you're talking about MMOs. Then it's the equivalent of dog years, only larger. But <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a> has been running for all that time, and the game is still running strong -- and more to the point, bringing out a number of updates, improvements, and other positives for the game. Even as a veteran player, I haven't seen all of the content that's out there -- really, I'd be surprised if I've done much more than scratch the surface.<br />
<br />
I was given the lucky opportunity to get a guided tour of all the improvements and new content that the game had added with the most recent update, and it's certainly one of the more impressive drops the game has seen. Two entirely new summons, a new quest type, the penultimate missions in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Wings-of-the-Goddess/"><em>Wings of the Goddess</em></a>, new Notorious Monsters, new areas... it's dwarfing to even consider it. I only had a chance to hit the highlights, and even then it was a lot to cover. So jump on past the cut, and see what's there to be seen.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/massivelys-tour-of-final-fantasy-xis-march-update/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Massively's tour of Final Fantasy XI's March update</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/13/massivelys-tour-of-final-fantasy-xis-march-update/">Massively's tour of Final Fantasy XI's March update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 13 Apr 2010 12:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.dofus.com/en"><em>Dofus</em></a> is a game that's been around for a while now, first in its 1.0 form, and now as <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dofus"><em>Dofus 2.0</em></a>. It's a tactics-based game (many players have pointed out that it has a <a href="http://www.playonline.com/"><em>Final Fantasy</em></a> feel about it), and while it's not as flashy as many of the graphics-heavy games on the market today, it's got a fair amount of substance to it. <em>Dofus 2.0</em> offers a nice variety of combat areas, diverse and specialized classes, even crafting if that's your thing. Recently we were lucky enough to take a tour of <em>Dofus 2.0</em> with Ankama's own Elissa Dukes. Follow along after the jump to see what we found.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/03/04/massivelys-tour-of-dofus-2-0/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Massively's tour of Dofus 2.0</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/03/04/massivelys-tour-of-dofus-2-0/">Massively's tour of Dofus 2.0</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 04 Mar 2010 18:00:00 EST. Today marks the official NDA (non disclosure agreement) lift on <a href="http://www.lotro.com"><em>Lord of the Rings Online</em></a>'s newest expansion: <a href="http://www.lotro.com/mirkwood"><em>Siege of Mirkwood</em></a>. The latest addition to virtual Middle-earth is set to release on December 1st, but many players have already been enjoying the new content on the Bullroarer test server these last few months.<br />

Last week, we made the trek down to Hi-Rez Studios in Atlanta, Georgia to get a look at how <a href="http://www.globalagendagame.com"><span style="font-style: italic;">Global Agenda</span></a> is shaping up just before the closed beta goes live. As you may remember, we were one of the first MMO news sites to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/27/hi-rez-studios-and-global-agenda-the-studio/">visit the studio in October of last year</a>, and we're happy to see the popularity that the game has enjoyed since then.<br /><br />In the video embedded just after the jump, you'll see a bit of the inner-workings of the studio, as well as a few interviews with members of the Hi-Rez team, asking the question, "How are you preparing for the closed beta?"<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/preparing-for-beta-a-video-tour-of-hi-rez-studios/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Preparing for beta: A video tour of Hi-Rez Studios</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/preparing-for-beta-a-video-tour-of-hi-rez-studios/">Preparing for beta: A video tour of Hi-Rez Studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 21 Jul 2009 13:00:00 EST. This new engine aims to show gamers what types of games they would be interested in playing based on more factors than simply what they've purchased previously or what game they might be playing right now. It is created to refine gaming interests based on the "hows" and the "whys", more than simply the "whats". <br /><br />We caught up with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/gamerdna/">gamerDNA</a>'s founder <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Radoff">Jon Radoff</a> for a comprehensive tour of this new feature and an explanation of how it works to benefit the current generation of gamers immersed in a world of overwhelming choices. Follow along just after the cut below for our impressions and more information on the Discovery Engine.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/13/gamerdna-to-unleash-new-discovery-engine-this-monday/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>GamerDNA to unleash new Discovery Engine this Monday</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/13/gamerdna-to-unleash-new-discovery-engine-this-monday/">GamerDNA to unleash new Discovery Engine this Monday</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 13 Dec 2008 10:00:00 EST. Last week, we did <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/move-over-austin-georgia-aims-to-be-the-next-big-thing-for-game/">a story on the growing game development scene in Georgia</a>, and how government tax incentives have worked to get more digital entertainment companies into the state. Georgia's legislators understand that gaming is an important part of a global economic future, and they're getting their foot in the door early. As part of this story, we visited <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/move-over-austin-georgia-aims-to-be-the-next-big-thing-for-game/">Hi-Rez Studios</a>, located near the state's capital and largest city of Atlanta. Not only did we tour the studio and talk about their reasons for setting up shop in Atlanta, but we also got some hands-on time with their upcoming "spy-fi" MMO, <a href="http://www.globalagendagame.com/"><em>Global Agenda</em></a>.<br /><br />This article will cover the company's prominent involvement with the Atlanta area's gaming scene, a bit of a background into the studio itself and most importantly, a look into their new MMO. Follow along by clicking the navigation link below, and don't forget to check out the <em>Global Agenda</em> gallery for the latest screenshots from the game and photos of the studio.<br /><br />

We've brought you a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/06/cox-issue-12-journey-to-cimerora/">tour of Cimerora</a>, and now venture into the Midnighter Club, home of the Midnight Squad.<br /><br />The zone itself is unusual for <a href="http://massively.com/tag/cox"><em>CoX</em>.</a> Although access to it has to be unlocked, with separate arcs on the hero and villain side giving access, it currently contains no mission content of its own. There is a time-travelling crystal giving access to Cimerora and a store selling level 35 to 50 Enhancements of all kinds. That aside, the Midnighter Club is useful as a shortcut between heroside universities and a sumptuously atmospheric roleplaying area. <br /><br />The club also contains a Mystery, a form of treasure hunt that players can follow by clicking on objects.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/issue-12-the-midnighter-club/">CoX Issue 12: The Midnighter Club</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/issue-12-the-midnighter-club/#793092"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/05/latinscholar_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Latin Scholar" title="Latin Scholar" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/issue-12-the-midnighter-club/#791373"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/05/tommyskull_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Tommy's Skull" title="Tommy's Skull" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/issue-12-the-midnighter-club/#793095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/05/hallways2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Hallways" title="Hallways" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/issue-12-the-midnighter-club/#791366"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/05/bookshelves_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Stacks" title="Stacks" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/issue-12-the-midnighter-club/#793094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/05/hallways_thumbnail.jpg" alt="To the Inner Chambers" title="To the Inner Chambers" /></a></div><br /><hr />

Produce one of the most significant gaming franchises in history and that dream could become a reality.<br /><br />The <a href="http://www.hgtv.com/">HGTV</a> show <a href="http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/spcl_prsntn/episode/0,1806,HGTV_3909_48527,00.html"><em>Secret Spaces</em></a> was guided by gaming industry eccentric <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/richard-garriott">Richard Garriott</a>, aka Lord/General British, through Garriott's Austin home. Garriott became extravagantly wealthy through his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/ultima"><em>Ultima</em></a> series of computer games, and has spent some of his money building a house/castle hybrid called "Britannia Manor." The manor is full of secret passageways, hidden rooms, and strange artifacts.<br /><br />We have the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mM109_EbMcs">YouTube video</a> here for you. Unfortunately, they didn't show where he keeps his <a href="http://www.boingboing.net/2007/10/03/richard-ultima-garri.html">Sputnik satellite</a>.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/todays-most-labyrinthine-video-lord-britishs-house/">Joystiq</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/21/explore-richard-garriotts-secret-dungeons/">Explore Richard Garriott's secret dungeons</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 21 Nov 2007 13:30:00 EST.
