It's sometimes hard to believe that the MMO genre <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/01/05/massively-staff-picks-for-2010-and-the-decade/">is already over a decade old</a>. <a href="http://lineage2.com/"><em>Lineage II</em></a> celebrates <a href="http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2011/04/7th_anniversary.html">its 7th Anniversary this month</a>, demonstrating an impressive longevity that not all MMOs can hope to match. To celebrate, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ncsoft">NCSoft</a> has three weeks full of events planned for current and ex-players of the game. Starting today and lasting until May 4th, all expired <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/lineage-2/"><em>Lineage II</em></a> accounts have been temporarily reactivated for free. During this time, <a href="http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2011/04/7th_anniversary.html#Subscription">any subscription purchases</a> will be rewarded with special in-game anniversary rewards such as a chest full of gear or a pitch black version of the 7th anniversary cloak.<br />
<br />
During the first week of the celebrations, players will benefit from <a href="http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2011/04/7th_anniversary.html#DoubleXP">free teleports at gatekeepers and double experience</a> and skill points from monster kills. Extending the celebrations for a third week, an <a href="http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2011/04/7th_anniversary.html#Letters">anniversary letters event</a> will run from April 27th until May 11th. Players will sometimes find letter blocks when hunting monsters. Special rewards will be available for players who collect enough letters to spell out the words "NCSoft" or "Lineage II."<br />
<br />
On April 27th and May 4th, the highest level characters on each account will be gifted with anniversary gift packs full of goodies. All characters above level 80 will also get an impressive-looking blood red endgame cloak on April 27th. For more details head over to <a href="http://www.lineage2.com/archive/2011/04/7th_anniversary.html">the official announcement</a> on the Lineage II website.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/04/20/lineage-iis-7th-anniversary-kicks-off-with-three-weeks-of-event/">Lineage II's 7th anniversary kicks off with three weeks of events</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 20 Apr 2011 21:00:00 EST. I neglected to mention a few weeks ago (two weeks ago, actually) a very important event: <a href="http://massively.com/tag/behind-the-mask">Behind the Mask</a> had its one year anniversary in the end of March, and I intended to do something special. Although we could do something boring like <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/one-full-year-of-being-a-champion/">recap the journey</a> of my first year of <a href="http://champions-online.com"><em>Champions Online</em></a> or something, that doesn't really sound like much fun to me. I've had some <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/09/behind-the-mask-an-anniversary-well-spent/">good times</a> playing <a href="http://massively.com/tag/champions-online"><em>CO</em></a> since I started writing for Massively, but <em>CO</em> is a themepark, so my summary would be something like, "I roleplayed a lot." Sure, I have a few high-level characters, but I probably wouldn't have had as much fun playing <em>CO</em> if not for roleplaying and the social landscape of the game.<br />
<br />
If you're a long-time reader of this column, you know I complain a lot about <em>Champions</em>. In some respects, that shows I'm invested in the game, and I really care about whether it succeeds. On the other hand, it also means that sometimes my column carries some bias. In true Behind the Mask-fashion, here is the real summary of my last year of playing <em>CO</em>.<br />
<br />
If you read my <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/27/behind-the-mask-ten-things-i-hate-about-rp/">rants about roleplayers</a>, this should be familiar ground.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/04/14/behind-the-mask-the-perfect-ten/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Behind the Mask: The perfect ten</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/04/14/behind-the-mask-the-perfect-ten/">Behind the Mask: The perfect ten</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 14 Apr 2011 14:00:00 EST. If there's one MMO on the horizon that has everyone excited, it's <a href="http://www.riftgame.com/"><em>Rift</em></a>. Created by <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/trion-worlds/">Trion Worlds</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/rift"><em>Rift</em></a> promises to be the next big AAA launch title and has been <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/01/trion-answers-ubisoft-related-questions-about-rift/">drawing its share of attention from players</a>. The game's closed beta begins tomorrow, and Trion has been giving out beta keys in preparation. Some <em>Rift</em> fans were able to grab limited beta keys that give access to several beta events, while others were lucky enough to secure an access-all-areas VIP beta key. Here at Massively, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/22/get-the-full-rift-beta-experience-with-our-vip-beta-key-giveaway/">our 500 VIP keys disappeared in record time</a>. For those of you who missed the chance to get in on the <em>Rift</em> beta, you can still <a href="http://www.riftgame.com/">sign up at the <em>Rift</em> website</a> for a chance to get in.<br />
<br />
<em>Rift</em> is being marketed as a fully complete, next-gen MMO. But those are just marketing buzzwords, right? Guess again! In this new video (after the cut below), the Trion team has taken the bold step of defining what exactly those terms mean in a very practical context. <em>Rift</em> is promised to be a highly polished MMO right from launch, with none of those rough edges we've come to expect from new titles. Rather than follow the standard MMO formula wherein monsters are forever bound to respawn and walk around within a small area, <em>Rift</em> aims to create a truly dynamic game world.<br />
<br />
The demonic rifts that open randomly in the world will radically alter not just the look of the land but also the gameplay of nearby areas. Leave a rift unchecked for too long and you'll soon find they've set up camp and organised an invasion of the local area. If this new video doesn't make you excited for <em>Rift</em> and the future potential of the MMO genre, I don't know what will.<br />
<br />
Skip past the cut to watch the new <em>Rift</em> beta video in full HD.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/02/epic-new-rift-video-proceeds-tomorrows-beta-test-opening/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Epic new Rift video precedes tomorrow's beta test opening</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/02/epic-new-rift-video-proceeds-tomorrows-beta-test-opening/">Epic new Rift video precedes tomorrow's beta test opening</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 02 Dec 2010 13:00:00 EST. The Final Fantasy series as a whole has been marked by a surfeit of crystals, and <a href="http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a>'s Aetheryte is heir to the tradition. Floating just above the ground, these crystals serve as both a nexus of quests and a point of transportation. Both of these functions are <a href="http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=281743c43d1eff885cb32d00efae6843541561bc">getting a distinct boost</a> with the pending <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Novemberversionupdate/">November version update</a> set for the 24th. Teleportation costs are being reduced for both the major cities and three player-selected "favorite" camps, allowing players to zap from place to place faster. Return costs are also being reduced to 1 anima, allowing players who are either lost or in a dangerous region a quick option to get to safety.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, levequest functionality at crystals is being improved, with players able to scale the difficulty of a given levequest downward once the quest has been started. This goes hand-in-hand with adjustments to the strength of enemies found in guildleves and improvements to the rewards of leve-linking, giving players more incentive to try to push themselves to the limits of what they can accomplish. <a href="http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=281743c43d1eff885cb32d00efae6843541561bc">The changes</a> should be welcome boons to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Final-Fantasy-XIV/"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a> players, allowing easier movement and questing under all circumstances.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/22/november-brings-updates-to-final-fantasy-xivs-travel-and-questi/">November brings updates to Final Fantasy XIV's travel and questing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 22 Nov 2010 21:00:00 EST. It's not like <a href="http://champions-online.com"><em>Champions Online</em></a> is the first MMORPG with travel powers. Back in the ancient days of <a href="http://www.uoherald.com/"><em>Ultima Online</em></a>, we had things like boats and teleporting spells. Getting a mobility boost to get from point A to point B is nothing unique or special.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://massively.com/tag/champions-online"><em>CO</em></a> has something a little different, though. Travel powers are as much a thing of individual expression as they are a transportation method. Sure, there's something to be said for riding a semi-transparent sparkling blue horse, but when you can wrap yourself in a shroud of blue fire and streak through the skies, it says a little more about your character. There's a reason I think people who still go AFK to ride griffons from zone to zone are chumps. Hopping over buildings to get to your next quest objective or sprinting at ludicrous speed into a group of foes and using the momentum to start up your attacks is the epitome of personal expression.<br />

This week, I've been thinking a lot about <a href="http://us.runesofmagic.com/us/index.html"><em>Runes of Magic's</em></a> ability to cater to players with different MMO backgrounds. Many players may never have played <a href="http://www.wow.com/">a subscription game from the West</a>, while others may never have experienced the different mechanics found in Eastern F2P MMOs. What you get is a banquet of food and all the guests aren't sure of the proper etiquette or rules or when it's time to eat. If we stick with a food analogy, the group feature would be a main dish.<br />
<br />
Lots of F2P MMOs have been imported from the East, and they don't handle grouping in quite the same way as Western subscription-based games. In fact, the ideas of raiding, <a href="http://www.wow.com/tag/pug/">pick-up-groups</a>, and instances that can be found in almost any Western MMO, don't exist in most F2P games. This article takes a look at some specifics of grouping in <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/runes-of-magic/">RoM</a>,</em> including the recruitment board, experience debt, looking for a group, and etiquette.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/02/lost-pages-of-taborea-grouping-basics/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Lost Pages of Taborea: Grouping basics</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/02/lost-pages-of-taborea-grouping-basics/">Lost Pages of Taborea: Grouping basics</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 02 Aug 2010 16:00:00 EST. The sixth-year rewards <a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/news_archive_content.vm?id=3370&amp;section=News&amp;locale=en_US">have been announced on EQ2Players</a>, and one of the bonus items in particular <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=463788">has the community cheering</a>. Beginning with that most celebrated item, the rewards are:<br />
<br />
<ul>
    <li><a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/images/en/features/articles/gu54/vetrewards/call_of_the_veteran.jpg">Call of the Veteran</a>: A charm-slot item that can be used to teleport to a group-member, or summon them to your own location. This functionality was confirmed by <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/everquest-ii"><em>EverQuest II</em></a> lead programmer Rothgar <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=0&amp;topic_id=463788#5171639">on the forums</a>; the EQ2Players page only mentions teleporting to someone else but leaves out the summoning part. It has a reuse time of 60 minutes.</li>
    <li><a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/images/en/features/articles/gu54/vetrewards/hammer_adept_hands.jpg">Hammer of Adept Hands</a>: A charm-slot item that can be clicked to completely refill your tradeskill vitality. Its reuse time is 7 days.</li>
    <li><a href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/images/en/features/articles/gu54/vetrewards/destiny_accessory_bag.jpg">Destiny Accessory Bag</a>, containing the Hood of Fate and Shroud of Fate: A hood and cloak to let those around you know that you're part of the six-year club.</li>
</ul>
Rothgar also <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=91&amp;topic_id=461422#5167624">stated in another thread</a> that up until some time this year, eligibility for veteran rewards was not being tallied correctly, with credit being given even while accounts were inactive. Going forward, an account must be actively subscribed to keep adding time towards veteran rewards. The rewards will be available when the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/eqiis-producer-discusses-the-next-update-and-scrapped-features/"><em>Will of a Tyrant </em>patch</a> goes live on December 9th.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/07/sixth-year-veteran-rewards-announced-for-eqii/">Sixth-year Veteran Rewards announced for EQII</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 07 Dec 2009 16:00:00 EST. Some epic level equipment will be getting a resistance decrease while teleportation tablets will have absolutely no effect in Soulfight Altar, denying losing players the ability to quickly flee.<br /><br />Scattered throughout the zone will be limited time power boosts as well, such as invisbility and regeneration pickups, allowing the tide of battle to be turned by the appearance of a single boost.<br /><br />Fighting in Soulfight Altar will award new soulfight points, letting successful players grab a variety of equipment, including epic level armor sets.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/07/zu-online-adds-pvp-arenas-to-the-mix/">Zu Online adds PvP arenas to the mix</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 07 Jul 2009 15:00:00 EST. This brings up another transportation-related question, or several really. How will teleportation work in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/earthrise"><em>Earthrise</em></a>? What limitations will be put on it? Is teleportation accessible to individuals or is it a guild-level ability? The latest Question of the Week entry from the <em>Earthrise</em> devs at <a href="http://www.mastheadstudios.com">Masthead Studios</a> answers these questions and more. <br /><br />The game's sandbox <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/enterra">setting of Enterra</a> is a massive island with many zones. Conventional modes of transportation may not always be the best option for players who need to get from one place to another, hence the developers have included teleportation (travel, not combat) <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/game-mechanics">game mechanics</a>, but characters seeking instantaneous travel will need to pay fees for the privilege. There will be two simple types of teleportation -- short range for within zones, and long range, which can be a jump from one end of Enterra to another. The further you travel, the more you pay. Teleporters will be run by NPC factions, available to players aligned with that faction or neutrals, but <em>Earthrise</em>'s guilds will also be able to establish their own teleporters.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/29/earthrise-developers-explain-how-teleportation-will-affect-gamep/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Earthrise developers explain how teleportation will affect gameplay</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/29/earthrise-developers-explain-how-teleportation-will-affect-gamep/">Earthrise developers explain how teleportation will affect gameplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 29 Jun 2009 12:00:00 EST. We have a good idea of what to expect with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dc-universe-online"><em>DCUO</em></a> given the recognizable characters the game incorporates, but what of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/champions-online"><em>Champions Online</em></a> which is based upon the <a href="http://www.herogames.com/aboutChampions.htm">Champions pen and paper RPG</a>?<br /><br />We've wondered what <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/cryptic-studios">Cryptic Studios</a> will do to differentiate <em>Champions Online</em> from the competition; Massively had a chance to sit down with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/bill-roper">Bill Roper</a>, the game's executive producer, to discuss that question at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2009">E3 2009</a>.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/champions-online-core-gallery-2/">Champions Online Main Gallery</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/champions-online-core-gallery-2/#4141403"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/resistance-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/champions-online-core-gallery-2/#4141404"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/resistance-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/champions-online-core-gallery-2/#4141405"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/resistance-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/champions-online-core-gallery-2/#4141406"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/resistance-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/champions-online-core-gallery-2/#4141407"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/05/resistance-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/05/e3-2009-bill-roper-on-character-themes-and-customization-in-cha/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>E3 2009: Bill Roper on character themes and customization in Champions Online</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/05/e3-2009-bill-roper-on-character-themes-and-customization-in-cha/">E3 2009: Bill Roper on character themes and customization in Champions Online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 05 Jun 2009 12:00:00 EST. There's a new addition to the <a href="http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/topics/special/080818.html "><em>Final Fantasy XI</em> Player's Collection,</a> which is available for a limited time only: The Tidal Talisman. It's a $43 silver-plated pendant with a side-benefit that's the real selling point. It comes with a virtual counterpart, which could prove very useful. The in-game version of the Tidal Talisman allows a player to teleport to locations previously visited in Vana'diel. Or, as it's described over at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/final-fantasy-xi">FFXI's</a> site, it confers <em>"the ability to project phantasmal robes over the wearer's body and enabling the wearer to teleport to distant lands in the blink of an eye." </em><br /><br />For those who are on the fence about shelling out $43 for a FFXI pendant, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square-Enix</a> appeals to a gamer's sense of urgency regarding scarcity of virtual goods: <span style="font-style: italic;">"We have no plans to bring this item back in the future, so all players are encouraged to take advantage of this unique one-time opportunity!" </span><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/final-fantasy-xi-collectible-confers-unique-in-game-ability/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Final Fantasy XI collectible confers unique in-game ability</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/20/final-fantasy-xi-collectible-confers-unique-in-game-ability/">Final Fantasy XI collectible confers unique in-game ability</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 17:00:00 EST. How we long for the days of the future when we'll be teleported where we want to go. Sure, ours will likely involve far less magic and be much more in keeping with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/12/star-trek-online-site-mysteriously-relaunches/"><em>Star Trek</em></a>, but it's still a nice dream. (And just think of all the awesome news coverage we could give if we could just teleport around!) Today's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/one-shots">One Shots</a> brings us a screen of one of the places we can at least enjoy fast transportation today! This comes to us from Firelore, Level 50 Warden in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/everquest-ii"><em>EverQuest II</em></a>, who appears to be hanging out on a flying carpet inside of a spire. (Did we mention that we want flying carpets too?)<br /><br />Do you have a cool screenshot of how you get around in your world? Or maybe something interesting you've seen while flying or riding around? Whatever it may be, grab those screenshots and send us a bunch at <a href="mailto:oneshots@massively.com">oneshots@massively.com</a>! Let us know your character name, server, level, or whatever you'd like to tell us about you and tell us a bit about what's in the picture/what game it came from. It takes only a few minutes, and it's a lot of fun to see your adventures shared with everyone.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/">One Shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2704109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os864_eq2_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2700179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os863_fe_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2695825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os862_lotro_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2691569"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os861_co_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2687909"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os860_wow_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/one-shots-traveling-in-style/">One Shots: Traveling in style</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 14:00:00 EST. In <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>, you can run around on different land-based mounts in "old" Azeroth, and enjoy lots of different forms of flying mounts in Outland. In <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/everquest/"><em>EverQuest</em></a>, you could take boats, books, portals, be transformed into a wolf, or just get a speed-buff in the form of a SoW. <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/28/first-impressions-perfect-world/">Perfect World</a></em> allows you to pile a land mount on top of a flying mount, even! <br /><br />It seems like with as varied as each game is, there are always preferences for one mode or another. I will admit that one of my favorite ways to get around is SuperJump in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/city-of-heroes/"><em>City of Heroes</em></a> just because it's just so much fun to bounce into a group of bad guys, then bounce away. Today we thought we'd ask you what your favorite methods of getting around are? Do you have a Peep (<a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/2007/06/01/peep-drops-from-kaelthas/">the phoenix mount from WoW</a>) or are you all about catching portals to save time? Do you like the city-to-city teleports offered in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/guild-wars"><em>Guild Wars</em></a>, or prefer to adventure with your noble steed in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/lord-of-the-rings-online"><em>Lord of the Rings Online</em></a>?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/the-daily-grind-forms-of-transportation/">The Daily Grind: Forms of transportation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 19 Feb 2008 08:00:00 EST.
