I've played Alliance since Day One of my time in <a href="http://massively.com/tag/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>. Granted I've dabbled now and then with Horde, I've always been so depressed by the starting zones that I never went further than level 4. However my recent experience with <a href="http://massively.com/tag/aion"><em>Aion</em></a> and leveling <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/elyos">both</a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/asmodian">factions</a> has given me a new perspective on playing 'good' and 'evil' factions. Indeed terms like that are fast becoming obsolete. So when a friend of mine told me she had rolled a Horde on a backwater server (describing her toon as 'furry with horns') I was eager to join her. Of all the Horde races, the Tauren seem the least evil, the most peaceful and have the prettiest starter zone. So I rolled a female shaman just to be completely different and my friend chose a male warrior.<br /><br />The grass really is greener on the other side of the fence. The quests are new, as is the lore and while the actual objectives are often similar it's like seeing an MMO with a new pair of eyes. Indeed I think it could totally change how you enjoy a particular MMO and how you play it. When it comes to <a href="http://worldofwarcraft.com"><em>WoW</em></a> specifically, this is even more the case now that Blizzard have revealed their plans to allow you to <a href="http://www.wow.com/2009/06/29/faction-changes-coming-to-the-world-of-warcraft/">change your faction</a>. So, come on readers, have you leveled a toon in (insert your chosen MMO here), got them geared up and then decided to see things from the other side? Did you switch because you wanted a change? Was it the lore? Better quests? A chance to do something different? If you were like me, would you consider jumping ship and re-rolling during your next bout of burn out? Speak up, constant readers, and drop your comments in the box.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/05/the-daily-grind-greener-grass/">The Daily Grind: Greener grass</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 05 Jul 2009 08:00:00 EST. The little MMOG laughed to see such sport... and we're not going on with that. Today is the day, for all of you <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a> fans. If you've been waiting for those Blizzcon and WWI codes to be worth something, apparently cows have flown over the moon for real. You can now get access to the <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/tag/wotlk/"><em>Wrath of the Lich King</em></a> beta by punching in those codes. Seriously, though -- this image comes to us courtesy of Drucifer, who says he snapped this after doing the leap-machine quest in Nagrand. It certainly is a fun image! <br /><br />Do you have any screenshots you grabbed while out touring your favorite worlds? (Or perhaps flying through them?) If so, send those screenshots in to us here at oneshots AT massively.com! We can always use more screenshots.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/">One Shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2704109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os864_eq2_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2700179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os863_fe_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2695825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os862_lotro_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2691569"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os861_co_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2687909"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os860_wow_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/one-shots-the-cow-jumped-over-the-moon/">One Shots: The cow jumped over the moon</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 14:00:00 EST. Just when you think you're safe to go wandering around in your favorite game, the Blogosphere pops up to offer you tips, tricks, or just a giggle, as today's screenshot shows! This image comes to us from Bradley, who happened to spot this curious sight while traveling through Tranquillien in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft/"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>. Here's what he had to say:<br /><br /><em>Just saw this Tauren jumping around and his name gave me a chuckle. The Blogosphere is in mah gamez! Someone needs to change the Wikipedia entry for Blogosphere. <br /></em><br />Have you seen something that made you stop and giggle in your favorite game? If so, why not snap a screenshot of it and send it in to us! It takes only a few minutes to pop it into the mail to <a href="mailto:oneshots@massively.com">oneshots@massively.com</a>, where your screenshot will live on in our gallery! You can't beat that. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/">One Shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2704109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os864_eq2_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2700179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os863_fe_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2695825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os862_lotro_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2691569"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os861_co_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2687909"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os860_wow_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/29/one-shots-the-blogosphere-is-everywhere/">One Shots: The Blogosphere is everywhere</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 29 Mar 2008 14:00:00 EST. A favorite line: 'Did I just kill a mutated Raptor whose brain was held in with just the skin on its head?' As a <a href="http://www.wowwiki.com/Tauren">Tauren</a> <a href="http://www.wowwiki.com/Druid">Druid</a>, I know exactly the quest he's talking about, and yeah, it's something I wondered about myself, briefly.<br /><br />But these things differ from game to game, and no game ever gets everything completely right. These little quirks are things that the quester must simply grin and bear, trusting in the larger picture to make more sense as an objective. Or is it that cut-and-dried? <br /><br />Have you ever quit playing a game because of too many of these weird little quests? Does there need to be more reason in what you do? Do you even bother to look at the mission description?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/15/the-daily-grind-do-the-little-things-bother-you/">The Daily Grind: Do the little things bother you?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 15 Jan 2008 08:00:00 EST. Sound impossible? Not if you take the time to figure out how to balance things out, as this lot of moo-cows did. Twenty-five level 1 Tauren went head to head against a level 70 frost mage. Using macros and set out scripts, the fight had four phases to it, and took about 10 minutes to complete. They describe the encounter as reminiscent of Shades of Aran. The concept is fairly amusing in and of itself, and shows a good deal of creativity. The only problems with the operation of the fight was that they couldn't find a good way to manage aggro, and spell resistance makes casting in this kind of fight next to impossible.<br /><br />Another video of the encounter (with slightly more annoying music) can be found after the jump, and shows it from the perspective of a raider, as well as some of their first few wipes. Color us amused.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/twenty-five-moo-cows-down-a-level-70-mage-in-user-created-raid/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Twenty-five moo-cows down a level 70 mage in user-created raid</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/twenty-five-moo-cows-down-a-level-70-mage-in-user-created-raid/">Twenty-five moo-cows down a level 70 mage in user-created raid</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 08 Jan 2008 08:45:00 EST. Love it or loathe it, it's Christmas trotting toward you, antlered head held high and the glint of consumer-related malice in its eye. Regardless of your personal belief system, chances are you'll have to buy at least one gift for someone simply because it's traditional. Well, if that someone also happens to be a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life"><em>Second Life</em></a> resident, then let this post help you in deciding what to get someone who has everything -- virtually.<br /><strong><br />The Casual/Work Acquaintance</strong><br />Maybe you have a supervisor or boss that spends time in <em>SL</em>, but you don't know their tastes well enough to know what they'd like as a gift (and consequently feel warm and fuzzy toward you enough to give you a raise). I suggest <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/104-6945380-3307166?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=%22Second+Life%22&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">one of the fine guides to <em>Second Life</em></a> to be had on Amazon.com.
