Richard Garriott live on stage, one night only!

As a game developer, there's no denying that Richard Garriott is a legend. I think by now most people reading this realize his importance in creating Ultima Online, and his "come-back" attempt with Tabula Rasa. Since then, Garriott has expressed a desire to leave gaming to pursue his rediscovered love for space travel, and then gaming again, and now space travel again.

If you find yourself compelled with the space flight of Richard Garriott, and you feel like paying $65 a ticket for the opportunity, he'll be telling his story live on the ZACH Theatre's Whisenhunt stage in Austin, TX for one night only. On Saturday, January 24th, at both 2:30pm and 8pm, you can listen to Richard Garriott talk about his experiences in space and his future plans with the space program. There will even be a Q&A session afterwards. I can think of a few questions I'd like to ask him. How about you?

Before Robbie Dingo was ever an artist in residence or brought paintings to life in Second Life, he was known as the machinimator that made us cry. With works like Better Life and Stage, he set the tone for deeply emotional machinima.

With Stage in particular, he showed the relationship between a father and a son as time passed on. He illustrated this with a train set and a piano. Robbie proves that you don't need a complicated storyline to evoke a response.

Cinemassively: Mask

Robbie Dingo has done it again! Last month, he put out a call for picture submissions for an unnamed Machinima. He finally released the finished project today, a piece titled Mask. Using Second Life avatars, he effectively blended one person into the next, for over 100 people.

One of the things I've always loved about Robbie's work is that he thinks outside of the box. Instead of producing standard corporate fluff, he engages residents with tales of the handicapped using SL to fly, fathers spending time with their children, and paintings coming to life. Mask is no exception.
