A number of <a href="http://www.eveonline.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> fans who've needed their podcast fix have been tuning in to <a href="http://www.planetriskshow.com/">Planet Risk</a> in recent months, a great mix of music and commentary from players who spend most of their <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> time exploring the uncharted expanses of wormhole space. Planet Risk is a live show that airs on <a href="http://www.siradio.fm/">Split Infinity Radio</a> on Wednesdays; hosts <a href="http://www.planetriskshow.com/author/amusic/">Luminus Aardokay</a> and <a href="http://www.planetriskshow.com/author/spirit/">Quivering Palm</a> make Planet Risk <a href="http://www.planetriskshow.com/category/podcasts/">available as a podcast</a> afterwards and we recommend you check it out if you haven't already. Today's show should be interesting as they will host a debate between four candidates for <em>EVE</em>'s next <a href="http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/What_is_the_CSM">Council of Stellar Management</a>, the player-elected body that represents the wishes of the subscribers when dealing with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ccp-games">CCP</a> and how <em>EVE Online</em> is evolving. <br />
<br />
We mentioned last week that the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/31/eve-onlines-candidates-for-4th-council-of-stellar-management-an/">4th CSM candidates have been announced</a> but not everyone in the running had their positions on issues fleshed out in time for the CCP announcement. Since that day, more <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=channel&amp;channelID=759778">info about the 49 candidates</a> is becoming available (thanks for pointing this out <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/profile/3412650/">Darth Sith</a>). Today's debate on Planet Risk will have CSM candidates <a href="http://teadaze.net/GalNet/">TeaDaze</a> (known to many for his commentary during the Alliance Tournament), <a href="http://www.missionscollide.com/?p=6">Song Li</a> (from the Missions Collide podcast), <a href="http://www.antipwn.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=5&amp;Itemid=7">Helen Highwater</a> and <a href="http://podlogs.com/mikeazariah/">Mike Azariah</a>.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/eve-onlines-csm-candidates-debate-live-on-todays-planet-risk-r/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Online's CSM candidates debate live on today's Planet Risk radio show</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/11/04/eve-onlines-csm-candidates-debate-live-on-todays-planet-risk-r/">EVE Online's CSM candidates debate live on today's Planet Risk radio show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 04 Nov 2009 15:15:00 EST. They're holding an in-game event this Saturday, October 24th -- <a href="http://lifeinlowsec.blogspot.com/2009/09/party.html">The Hellcats Pub Party</a> -- which sounds like it'll be a good time for all. Hellcats CEO and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> underworld celebrity <a href="http://lifeinlowsec.blogspot.com">Mynxee</a> had this to say about the event: <em>"This party is intended to express our appreciation of fans and friends plus give folks the chance to hang out, share stories, wave e-peens, and get to know each other. I promise to drink much wine and act outrageous while giving away all sorts of goodies." </em><br /><br />Those "goodies" will include pirate faction cruisers, pirate faction and officer modules, rigged ships, forum sigs and blog banner art, and InterStellar Kredit giveaways in 50 and 100 million ISK chunks. (Plus, Hellcats <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/eve-onlines-very-own-corpse-bride/">corpses</a>... don't ask.) If any <em>EVE</em> players have donations they'd like to add to the prize drawings, you can contract them in-game to Mynxee with the description "Hellcats Pub Party Donation". She'll credit all donors for their contributions during the giveaways.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/22/eve-pirate-corp-hellcats-running-player-event-saturday-oct-24/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE pirate corp Hellcats running player event, Saturday Oct 24</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/22/eve-pirate-corp-hellcats-running-player-event-saturday-oct-24/">EVE pirate corp Hellcats running player event, Saturday Oct 24</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 22 Oct 2009 18:00:00 EST. There's other things as well -- the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/new-edens-virtual-reporters/">volunteer program that CCP runs, ISD</a>. They've got <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/10/eve-onlines-war-journalists-report-from-the-front-lines/">people on the field</a> watching the matches and doing coverage live to post on the forums for people who missed the matches. If you want to actually be part of helping produce the alliance tournament, that's an option that's available to you. <br /><br />Also <a href="http://everadio.gamingradio.net/">EVE Radio</a> and the <span style="font-style: italic;">EVE</span>-related radio stations do quite a bit. <a href="http://www.eve-news.net/">EVE Network News</a> were liveblogging the entire tournament. If you can't listen to the live audio stream you can still read up on it and contribute to the conversation as it's happening. There's also <a href="http://eve.coldfront.net/">IRC on the Coldfront server</a> which is the semi-official <em>EVE</em> IRC server where all the people hang out. I'm in there a lot of the time, some of the other experts are in there sometimes. You can get a lot of conversation both during, between, and after matches about what's going on. There are a lot of different ways you can get involved, even if you're not flying. <br /><br />Obviously there's no live video feed until the last weekend. But there is live audio, and the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/ccpgames">videos tend to go up on YouTube pretty quick</a>. I was very impressed with the turnaround.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/01/31/massively-speaks-with-crovan-about-eve-alliance-pvp-tournament-v/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Massively speaks with Crovan about EVE Alliance PvP Tournament VI Part 2</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/01/31/massively-speaks-with-crovan-about-eve-alliance-pvp-tournament-v/">Massively speaks with Crovan about EVE Alliance PvP Tournament VI Part 2</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 31 Jan 2009 16:45:00 EST. The first qualifying round takes place on January 24th and 25th, from 1500 - 2100 GMT. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE Online</em></a> dev CCP Mindstar explained earlier this week how players can tune in to the tournament. The two stages of qualifying rounds, this weekend and next, can be listened to in audio in a few different ways. Players can either listen in-game in the "Alliance Tournament" channel using EVE Voice, or tune in to what's happening via the web at <a href="http://www.eve-radio.com/">EVE Radio</a>, <a href="http://www.siradio.fm/">Split Infinity Radio</a>, or <a href="http://www.newedenradio.com/">New Eden Radio</a> -- all of which are broadcasting tournament coverage. <br /><br />This <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/pvp-tournament">Alliance Tournament</a> is the first where the qualifying rounds have been made available in audio, with commentators selected from among the game's top PvP'ers, notably <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/bloggers/phillip-manning ">Crovan</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/verone">Verone</a> -- both of whom have a well-deserved reputation for being knowledgeable about the combat side of the game. <br /><br />A <a href="http://myeve.eve-online.com/events/alliances/tournament/t6/matches.asp?t=6 ">match schedule</a> is also available for those who want to tune in to a particular battle. While the qualifying rounds of Alliance Tournament VI are audio-only, the finals of the tournament will be broadcast live in video, on February 7th and 8th. As an added bonus, that live video broadcast will feature some of the first footage shown from the upcoming <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/apocrypha"><em>Apocrypha</em></a> expansion.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Update: While only the final rounds of the tournament will be streamed live, CCP Games is already making the qualifying rounds footage available on </span><a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=E3253708589CBE0A">their YouTube page</a><span style="font-weight: bold;">. The player-run </span><a style="font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.eve-news.net/ ">EVE Network News</a><span style="font-weight: bold;"> is also following the matches, announcing the winners as they're declared, accompanied by audio commentary, and embedding video of the combat as it becomes available.</span><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/01/24/eve-online-alliance-pvp-tournament-vi-begins-today/">EVE Online Alliance PvP Tournament VI begins today</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 24 Jan 2009 14:30:00 EST. In the spotlight is Back Alley Brawler, aka <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/cox"><em>CoX</em></a> Senior Animator Christopher Bruce. The interview's not all that long, but fortunately interviewer Chris 'Chaotica' Carkner is on the ball and asks pertinent questions.<br /> <br /> BaB ends forum speculation by explaining what Pain Domination will entail. This set, the villainous counterpart of the heroes' Empathy, is being tailored specifically in order to offer parallel benefits in zone PvP to what Empathy offers. It has long been a complaint of villains that they don't have anything comparable to Empathy's buffs when fighting in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/city-of-heroes-pvp-zone-minigames/972321/">the level 20-30 PvP zone Siren's Call</a>. Since it's received wisdom in some quarters that the developers not only hate PvP but hate Villains, we wonder what impact this latest announcement will have.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/06/si-radio-hooks-up-with-coxs-back-alley-brawler/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>SI Radio hooks up with CoX's Back Alley Brawler</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/06/si-radio-hooks-up-with-coxs-back-alley-brawler/">SI Radio hooks up with CoX's Back Alley Brawler</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 06 Sep 2008 16:00:00 EST. Split Infinity asks Holden <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/30/ccp-games-video-interview-on-player-interaction-with-fiction/ ">a question that's been on the minds</a> of a number of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> players: <em>Can player actions really influence the storyline? </em><br /><br />Holden's answer is 'yes'... to a point. He discusses the initiative at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ccp-games">CCP</a> to create a system where events are announced in contested parts of space, prompting players to get involved. Their actions would be reported on through the in-game news, and in this way affects (or creates aspects of) the storyline. Participants in factional warfare, or anyone who reads the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/new-edens-virtual-reporters/">Interstellar Correspondents news pieces,</a> know that this already exists to some extent in <em>EVE,</em> but Holden states that CCP would like to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/18/eve-onlines-empyrean-age-a-first-step-towards-something-great/ ">take the idea further</a> as time goes on.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/31/eve-online-interview-discusses-players-determining-storyline/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Online interview discusses players determining storyline</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/31/eve-online-interview-discusses-players-determining-storyline/">EVE Online interview discusses players determining storyline</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 31 Aug 2008 20:00:00 EST.
