Have you been hungry for more information on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ReakktorMedia/">Reakktor Media</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/gamigo/">gamigo</a>'s upcoming free-to-play space dogfighter, <a href="http://www.blackprophecy.com"><em>Black Prophecy</em></a>? Well then, today's update on clan systems will undoubtedly be welcome news for those of you who can't wait to fly with friends. Some of the mechanics are very familiar, such as a clan leader being able to assign ranks and responsibilities to certain members, as well as the ability for the clan to create their own logo using an in-game editor. <br />
<br />
Other aspects of the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Black-Prophecy/"><em>Black Prophecy</em></a> clan system deal with familiar mechanics turned on their heads -- such as how clan stations will be handled. The word is that players will have to complete faction missions and gather enough resources and members, then they will be able to request their own chunk of space in which to build their clan station. Players will also be able to decide if the station will be opened up to others players in the faction that they're allied with, or if it will be kept for the clan members alone; thus removing any fear of getting your station blown to heck in the middle of a giant PvP clan war. Each station will be comprised of a central command module that will house up to 10 players comfortably, and offer some small vendor aspects. From there, players can add on more modules to their station to not only unlock more room and additional perks, but also more faction missions.<br />

Remember a while back when we mentioned that the <a href="http://www.entropiadirectory.com/wiki/Crystal_Palace_Space_Station">Crystal Palace Space Station</a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/08/who-wants-to-buy-a-virtual-spacestation/">went up for sale</a> in <a href="http://www.planetcalypso.com"><em>Planet Calypso</em></a>, marking the start of another insane bidfest to claim what could be a very real source of income? Well, the auction is over and the winner has been declared -- Buzz "Erik" Lightyear has taken control of Crystal Palace for the very, very hefty sum of 3,300,000 PED. For those of you who want to know the real world value, you're looking at a cool 330,000 dollars.<br />
<br />
While this seems insane (and it probably is, to some degree), Mr. Lightyear will be looking at revenue coming in from the hunting conducted on the space station, plus the purchases made there. In short, this space station is a walking money generator, especially as it's the only place to find alien body parts used to make high-end armor. All Buzz has to do is let the station run, set a decent tax rate, keep it stocked with things to hunt, and he can take all the PED he earns and translate it into cold, hard cash.<br />

Big Download took a look (one of the very first, in fact) <a href="http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/02/19/feature-first-look-at-nasas-unreal-engine-3-based-mmo/">at the Unreal Engine 3 powered NASA MMO</a>. They came out the the experience with two pages of information. Some of the more interesting facts are that the game is actually set in the year 2035, and is designed to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/01/nasa-mmo-hopes-to-awaken-a-stale-engineering-workforce/">spark a fire of infatuation with space and NASA</a> in those who play it -- similar to what America's Army was all about.<br /><br />So head on over and take a look, if getting your virtual space walk on (trainable at <em>level 40</em>, we hear) is something you'd be more than happy to participate in. Don't say we didn't warn you about those urine packs, though.

This is the case with Dylon Xavier, an enterprising Caldari pilot with <a href="http://www.assti.net/forum/index.php">Ascendant Strategies, Inc.</a><br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/new-edens-virtual-reporters/">ISD Magnus Balteus</a> reports that Xavier <em>"has decided to try something different; create a product that is both time and resource consuming to build, and offer it for auction to the alliance that has the funds and space to deploy it." </em>The niche item in this case is an <a href="http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Outpost">Outpost Platform.</a> When launched, it will create a space station for an alliance that can handle the minimum <a href="http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&amp;threadID=844263%00">20 billion isk bid</a> on his auctions. This substantial pricetag <a href="http://www.eveonlineships.com/eve-online-search-ships.php">includes a freighter</a> for transporting the Outpost Platform and materials, and turns what is normally a time-consuming collective effort into a (comparatively) rapid-deployment. He's also willing to have Chribba, perhaps <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/eve-online-community-spotlight-a-qanda-with-chribba/"><em>EVE's</em> most trusted player,</a> broker the transactions, mitigating the risk involved with such large amounts of currency. The editing is pretty tight, and speaking as somebody with only a minimum of <em>EVE</em> experience, the scale is also pretty impressive. While we stumbled upon the trailer by the chance fact that <a href="http://www.crazykinux.com/2008/04/eve-movie-trailer-cva-amarr-empire.html">one of our favorite <em>EVE</em> bloggers</a> mentioned it in a blog post recently, we were impressed by the sheer <a href="http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=channel&amp;channelID=29045">volume and variety of videos</a> to be found one of the bigger <em>EVE</em> forums.<br /><br />Given the amount of talented movie makers in the <em>EVE</em> community, we're extremely excited about the future of <em>EVE</em> machinima. The <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/">long-anticipated space station gameplay</a>, where players are allowed to actually occupy their humanoid avatars and engage in face to face interactions, should blow this community wide open. It'd allow for the creation of all sorts of epic stories and (forgive the Star Wars reference in a post about <em>EVE</em>) Mos Eisley cantina moments. At present, <em>EVE</em>'s player characters are little more than still portraits -- in the playable portion of the game you are primarily represented as your ship, which you can use to navigate and explore the game world. Players will one day have the ability to exit their ship and interact with other characters as a human avatar.
