Crubz is standing on my screen with a choppa in one hand and a blocka in the other, waiting for me to select him and log into <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.warhammeronline.com">Warhammer Online</a> for some RvR action. My cursor glides onto the "character" button. I'd feel bad for what I'm about to do if it didn't seem so right. I stare into the load screen for Blighted Isle and wonder if I'll come to regret my penultimate choice -- the career I truly want isn't available to me, yet. I doubt that I ever will regret the decision because it's going to happen again. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/24/turpstervision-warhammer-proves-you-dont-need-a-hoe-to-grow/">Regret will only rear its ugly head</a> if I don't take at least one character to end game level. My Dark Elf Sorcerer is nearly level ten now with a renown rank of eight and my class hopping has only just begun.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/the-digital-continuum-wars-resistant-early-gratifitanktion/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Digital Continuum: WAR's resistant early gratifitanktion</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/11/the-digital-continuum-wars-resistant-early-gratifitanktion/">The Digital Continuum: WAR's resistant early gratifitanktion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 11 Oct 2008 10:00:00 EST. It's been a busy week here at Massively as we've been preparing <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/18/warhammer-online-nda-lifts-august-19th/">for the eventual NDA lift</a> while simultaneously bringing you early looks at the first half of the Dark Elf and High Elf content. With the announcement that the full NDA is being removed today, we've decided to go ahead and gather all of the Elves of WAR content written thus far into one easy-to-access place. Expect to see lots more from the Massively crew as we bring you information on all of the races that will be butting heads in <a href="http://www.warhammeronline.com" style="font-style: italic;">Warhammer Online</a>.<br /><br />

The <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/the-elves-of-war-meet-the-sorceress/">first five levels of the Sorceress class</a> outfitted her with the basics spell-wise. These next five levels, however, add plenty of tricks into the mix. There's still more direct damage to be had, especially with your first morale ability. However, a lot of what you're getting in levels six through ten are buffs and debuffs or Augmentations and Hexes, as <em><a href="http://www.warhammeronline.com">Warhammer Online</a></em> likes to call them. <br /><br />Umbral Strikes is going to be your bread and butter buff for a while after you get it, as the spell gives everyone in your group a 25% chance to cause extra damage whenever they attack. One particularly interesting ability allows you to deal slightly more damage to a target of your choosing over a period of time, but less damage to everything else as a cost. This one seems like an obvious choice for epic monsters or maybe that particularly annoying tank in RvR. Your level ten spell is probably the second most important spell, next to your brand new buff. It's a classic AoE root that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/15/the-elves-of-war-meet-the-archmage-levels-1-5/">no spellcaster should be without</a>, really.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/17/the-elves-of-war-sorceress-levels-6-10/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Elves of WAR: Sorceress levels 6-10</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/17/the-elves-of-war-sorceress-levels-6-10/">The Elves of WAR: Sorceress levels 6-10</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 17 Aug 2008 18:00:00 EST. Do dark magical forces beckon you? It could be that the Dark Elf Sorceress -- Sorcerer for males -- is just the class for you in <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.warhammeronline.com">Warhammer Online</a>, so long as you don't mind being an Elf. The Sorceress is -- for all intents and purposes -- your typical mage-type class. Don't take that statement at face value, though. There is a nice twist to the class that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/the-elves-of-war-meet-the-disciple-of-khaine/">helps keep things interesting</a> while you nuke the snot out of everything in sight. The difference between, say, a Sorceress and an Archmage is the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/11/the-elves-of-war-meet-the-swordmaster/">disdain for any adherence to the balancing</a> act with magical energies. Where a High Elf crafts her magic with a careful touch, a Sorceress steals as much as she can and flings all of it at her enemies at once. This doesn't come without a risk, of course.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/the-elves-of-war-meet-the-sorceress/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Elves of WAR: Meet the Sorceress</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/the-elves-of-war-meet-the-sorceress/">The Elves of WAR: Meet the Sorceress</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 14 Aug 2008 11:30:00 EST. With the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/28/white-lion-confirmed-as-final-high-elf-career/">announcement of the White Lion as the final career in <em>Warhammer Online</em></a>, we finally have a good idea of what the class dynamics will be in the long-anticipated MMO from <a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&amp;ct=res&amp;cd=1&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mythicentertainment.com%2F&amp;ei=Aa1ESJfzFYia9wTmkLGyCA&amp;usg=AFQjCNFU3FOlXqWXtREC1xfJrk6t-ckStg&amp;sig2=jejSueY5f1gDWketzSJAHA">Mythic</a>. Obviously, the specifics of each aren't set in stone, as some classes don't even have their masteries announced yet, but one finally gets the sense that it's all starting to come together. With this is mind, we've put together an overview of the game's classes, including a comparison to their tabletop equivalents, to give you a better idea of what you've got to look forward to with the <a href="https://betacenter.eamythic.com/">upcoming open beta</a>. Partners-in-crime IGN and Gamespy recently visited Mythic to get some hands-on time with a couple of the starting areas in <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Warhammer-Online/">Warhammer Online</a></em>. <a href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/860/860572p1.html">IGN ended up with the High Elves</a>, taking Swordmaster as their class, and <a href="http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/warhammer-online/860574p1.html">Gamespy chose the Dark Elves</a> and picked Sorceress. <br /><br />One of the things that Gamespy commented on was the close proximity of the High Elf and Dark Elf starting areas to each other. They also noted that some of the newbie quests deliberately brought the two races together, within striking distance, giving players the choice to either scowl menacingly, or jump straight into PvP. There was unfortunately no mention of a meet-up and subsequent rumble with their noble High Elven counterparts though. Both teams ended their playtime by participating in a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/26/how-pve-and-warhammer-online-get-along/">public quest</a>, and you can read all about it from <a href="http://pc.ign.com/articles/860/860572p1.html">either IGN's</a> or <a href="http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/warhammer-online/860574p1.html">Gamespy's perspective</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/19/ign-and-gamespy-preview-wars-elven-starting-areas/">IGN and Gamespy preview WAR's Elven starting areas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 19 Mar 2008 16:00:00 EST.
