Copernicus
While 38 Studios remains in dire straits, fans are getting a bittersweet treat of Project Copernicus reveals. It's sweet because we've been dying to see more information on this game, but bitter because its fate is still up in the air.

Today fan site 38 Watch posted a trio of official-looking screens straight from Copernicus' world. In the screens, three races are revealed: the human-looking Almain, the dwarven Dverga, and the orcish Jottun. The game's art style and lush color palette are on full display, opting for more of a stylized than realistic approach.

We recently heard that Project Copernicus has a possible June 2013 launch window and got our first look at the game in a flyby video. You can scope out the new screens in the gallery below.

Lord of the Rings Online - FORTH EORLINGAS! OK, maybe not quite yet
Oh Turbine, how you're teasing us with visions of Rohan, Rohirrim, and desperately suicidal cavalry charges punctuated by raucous shouts of "DEATH!" OK, now that we're all hot and bothered, let's have a look at the latest Lord of the Rings Online screenshots.

The new batch coincides with the continuation of the game's epic storyline, and the shots primarily center around Theodred, prince of Rohan and son of King Theoden. If you've read Tolkien -- or seen Peter Jackson's films -- you're probably familiar with Theodred's fate and thus it might surprise you to learn that you'll be aiding him in Turbine's version of Middle-earth. It all fits, though, and you can find the prince in the game's new Dunland region, preparing his troops for battle and waiting on the timely assistance of heroes like you.

PlanetSide 2's Terran Republic and New Conglomerate have both had their time in the spotlight, but now we get to hear from the faction that everyone actually cares about: the technologically superior Vanu Sovereignty. League of Legends - Graves artwork
Riot Games recently released its latest League of Legends champion, and the ranged damage-dealer known as Graves has proved popular with players thus far. The company is looking to keep its new gunslinger in the spotlight, and to that end it has released several new pieces of concept art as well as a gaggle of screenshots of Graves in action.

The one constant in all the shots -- aside from various versions of the BFG9000 -- is damage, and whether the new champion is throwing smokebombs, spraying cone nukes via his buckshot ability, or chasing down other champions who've decided to run away, he'll be pumping out a lot of damage (and he'll look good doing it). You can learn more about Graves at the official League of Legends website, and be sure you check out the art and screens below.

Lord of the Rings Online - legendary weapons
Something draws near, we can feel it. That something is Lord of the Rings Online's Rise of Isengard expansion (hey, at least it wasn't another "they're taking the hobbits to Isengard" joke). Anyhow, the new content debuts in two short weeks, and Turbine has sent out some new screenshots to keep the hype machine rolling merrily along.

Today's batch shows off some of the new gear and items to be had as the Fellowship inches closer to Mordor (and thousands of players follow in their wake). Of particular note are the spiffy new legendary weapons that you can see in our gallery below.

Rise of Isengard will be available on September 27th, and the patch offers three new explorable regions, a level cap increase (to 75), and a new 24-man raid. More info is available at the official LotRO website.

Like our last Perfect World Entertainment-powered exclusive, this one concerns BoI's Titan update. The patch contains a new instance called Titan's Throne, and players at level 115 or higher will be able to run through it once per day in order to challenge a fearsome gauntlet of monsters, elite bosses and finally Kronos himself.

Last week we showed off a batch of PvP screens from Sony Online Entertainment's upcoming DC Universe Online MMORPG. This week, we've got more where those came from, but this time you'll only find these images here on Massively. SOE treats us to twelve new images of player vs. player superhero action, featuring everything from outlandish costumes to fireballs, ice shields, and laser beams (though, sadly, no sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads as of yet). Oh, and don't forget the giant spring-loaded boxing glove.

DCUO, currently slated to release in early 2011, is undergoing closed beta testing. You can read more about the game at the official website.

We may not have much information on TERA's highly secret political system, nor do we have a ton of new gameplay details to report, but one thing we always have in abundance regarding the forthcoming action MMORPG is screenshots. Yes, En Masse has delivered the eleventh installment of their venerable Screenshots of the Week featurette, this time focusing on the Valley of Nihil. Situated on TERA's western continent, the valley is an arid wasteland of cracked plateaus and foreboding sandstone that you can view in our gallery below.

En Masse was also kind enough to drop a few tidbits regarding skill tweaks earlier this week. In a brief news release, the TERA publisher details some of the feedback received from the Focus Group Test 2 that concluded earlier this spring, as well as some new skills that resulted from the feedback. One of the big sells that TERA has been focusing on in the lead-up to its official release is the idea that combat is entirely real-time, but like most great ideas in MMOs, it's not the first title to use combat with no lock-on and an action-based environment. Fantasy Earth Zero might be easily mistaken for yet another grind-based Asian game at a glance, but the actual mechanics of play combined with skill-based PvP make for a very different creature -- and yes, one wherein combat happens without any sort of target lock.

Gamepot USA was kind enough to furnish us with a few shots of the game in action during one of the large PvP battles, which showcase a faction of the strategic combat taking place on contested maps. The process of gathering resources and controlling towers is one of the dominant elements of gameplay, to the point where some reviewers have gone so far as to call the game an MMORTS in spirit. Take a look at the gallery, and consider giving Fantasy Earth Zero some of your time over the summer if you want something more different than it looks.

The folks at En Masse Entertainment have made a habit out of releasing new TERA screens near the end of every week, and today is no different. The seventh installment of the Screenshots of the Week featurette takes us to Serpentis Isle, which is just a bit north of Mistmoar Island and the location of last week's E3 demo.

"Creatures both familiar and fantastic can be found in this dangerous territory and they are not keen on sharing it with hapless explorers nor gallivanting heroes," says Evan "Scapes" Berman, En Masse community manager, in a teaser post on the game's official forums.

The big question with World of Tanks is really simple and yet daunting: will they feel like proper tanks? Slapping treads and a turret on something that handles like a Toyota Corolla isn't really going to work in terms of developing a properly tank experience. (A Ford Crown Victoria is getting closer, but still not there.) Since we have yet to get our hands on the actual game for any playtime, most of what we have is speculation, but a bevvy of new screenshots and a new trailer at least start in the direction of answering the questions.

Pictures of the game continue to impress, with the tanks having an appropriately worn look and a sense of weight. The city layouts seen in this gallery also suit the era of the conflict nicely. The trailer, on the other hand, gives a strong suggestion that the game is edging closer toward preserving the "feel" of tanks rather than a strictly simulation approach -- probably a good thing, since actually playing three characters cramped in a metal box wouldn't be quite as much fun. Ever since the recent DDO Unlimited "State of the Game" last week the fourth update really can't come soon enough. Lucky for us, Turbine has released some more screens that showcase some new content, which includes lots of fantasy sword swinging and some particularly nasty looking baddies to fight, as well. Now that we think on it, perhaps the images aren't as lucky as we thought, because now we just want patch day to be today.

Well, at least April -- the scheduled month for Update 4 -- is just around the corner. And if that's not good enough for you, we'll be demoing the update this Friday during PAX East. Turbine knows how to please a crowd, as evidenced by these new screens for Volume III: Allies of the King, Book 1 for Lord of the Rings Online. Who doesn't love dragons? Well, okay, probably not the party currently under siege by one in the screenshot above -- but everyone else for the most part. At least, everyone else loves them until they're attacked by one.

Anyhow, check out the rest of the screens. We especially recommend this one particular screen, where you'll find some other non-dragon enemies that look more than ready to tear apart your character in-game. Yes, we know, we've got a problem with dragons today. Don't worry, we're done now. Honest.

It takes two button presses for a screenshot, most of the time -- one to hide the game's UI and one to take the screen. It seems so extraneous that it's almost a wonder it's in there, but we can all take a visual log any time we want. And more often than not, even if you're chronically bad about taking photos or remembering your camera in real life, you've got a few special shots in there.

Of course, as our daily One Shots feature proves, everyone has different reasons for taking a moment for a picture. Some go for poignant moments, some aim for something silly, and some people snap whatever moment looks the most epic. Players try to arrange screenshots, pose everything just right, and give the best possible look to a frozen moment of game time. Today, we ask you what inspires you to take a picture? Romulans! They're pretty prevalent in today's exclusive Star Trek Online screens, although they're not the only antagonists fighting against the Federation. You've got to remember never to underestimate the Borg in their ability to frustrate and terrify the Feddies into tossing up shields and blaring red alerts ship-wide. Plus, there's the Klingons, whose very name just sounds sharp and dangerous.

We're getting off topic, though. If you like phasers, explosions and majestic Trek style space ships then we're certain you'll enjoy feasting your eyes on these five new screens.

If you're like us, you've probably always wondered what Alderaan looked like before it was blown into space dust by the first Death Star. It's lucky that BioWare seems to feel the same way, as we'll now be able to see the planet in all its regal glory. The first set of screens make the world seem like one whole planet covered by landscape from Washington state, but a closer look at the concept art reveals some truly breathtaking imagery that we can't wait to see rendered into the game.

You'll find all the information on Alderaan on the planet's official web page. Since you're probably recovering from either work or turkey we'll leave it at that and let you enjoy the new Star Wars: The Old Republic information.

Today we bring you five more exclusive Star Trek Online screens, courtesy of Cryptic Studios. We hope you Romulan fans out there are paying attention, because there's one new screen in particular we think you'll find quite... satisfying. Although, as you can see from the image above, there's a little extra Romulan love.

We find ourselves wanting to express concern for this lone Connie class vessel attempting to take on a Borg cube. That's just dangerous! We're fairly certain such encounters in the game proper will consist of a substantial grouping of players -- we're sure those screens will be quite something, actually.

The fact that many of these screens depict space combat is adventitious indeed, as our current Community Q&A for Star Trek Online concerns the very topic. We'll be taking questions for Cryptic developers until the end of today, Tuesday, November 17th -- so get 'em in while the asking is good.

Mixing side-scrolling fighting action with RPG elements seems like it should go together like peanut butter and chocolate, so the biggest surprise about Dungeon Fighter Online is that no one else thought of it first. The game is still in the middle of its open beta, but Nexon's most recent offering gave us a small preview of some of the dungeons to come in the game as well as a number of screenshots of them in play.

Each of the dungeons in question are accessed from a larger hub area, allowing you to whisk yourself promptly off to a specific dungeon, each with its own enemies (and presumably different rewards). The central area Grand Flores, for instance, leads to Mirkwood Frost and Blazing Gaqarak, with the former being a rime-coated expanse of woods and the latter an eternal forest fire. The Sky Tower leads to the Vestibule of Darkness, full of light-dousing goblins and enchanted armor, and the Golem Tower, in which you fight a large number of... well, okay, that one kind of makes it obvious. (It's not kittens.) The Temple of Apostasy leads to the GBL Arad Branch, a library-themed dungeon in which hordes of librarians attempt to surround you with magic and the rage of a thousand cracked book bindings.

Last but not least, Noire Ferra includes among its cavernous reaches the Spider's Lair, sure to be a top vacation spot for arachnophobes everywhere. Take a look at our gallery of shots, and if it gets you interested in Dungeon Fighter Online, let's not forget that the game is currently in open beta.

If space isn't your thing -- although if that's the case, you may want to reconsider your interest in space MMOs -- Cryptic is showing off this view of a tropical environment that's making us long for warmer weather. Although, we're much more interested in shots that feature the glory of the Klingon Empire. Well, okay maybe that last one wasn't exactly glorious insomuch that nobody was being blown up. Let's just pretend that all the rubble was the remains of a powerful enemy brought to its knees... yeah.

Sometimes you get a phaser blast to the face, and other times you get 12 new Star Trek Online screenshots courtesy of Cryptic Studios. Guess which one is today? Oh, we left our phasers at home so you'll have to make due with these 12 new screens. Good thing we had those on standby for just this occasion.

Violent threats involving energy weapons capable of vaporizing you in mere seconds aside, these are some substantially great screens. Whether it's some Cardassian love seen here (SFW, it's not literally alien love making) or various gratuitous space shots elsewhere, there's a whole heck of a lot to soak in visually. We've got five new Star Trek Online screens for you, hot off the computers at Cryptic Studios. Usually we have an exceedingly difficult time picking a favorite, but the above image contains Klingon warbirds and so it wins our hearts. Our love of the Federation isn't gone, but if you hadn't been able to tell yet, we're very happy to finally start seeing more of the Klingon side of Trek -- even if it's only a screenshot and video.

Telling you how the other screens show off amazing space battles and cool interiors is probably unnecessary. So in lieu of that, we'll mention that we can't wait to see Klingon interiors and all their angular, red and green glory.

Back at PAX09, we brought you information on Lord of the Rings Online's latest expansion, Siege of Mirkwood. Unfortunately, at that time we weren't able to show any images of the breathtaking views Turbine treated us to -- at least not until now.

Say hello to Dol Guldur, the fortress that served as Sauron's home back in his necromancer days in The Hobbit. It's pretty evil looking, yeah? it's also a massive vertical dungeon that -- and we can say from first-hand experience -- will astonish any fan of Gothic architecture . We've got five new screens from Cryptic Studio's upcoming Star Trek Online to share with you today. Of particular note is the above shot of a Borg drone about to vaporize someone or something into stardust. However, there are also plenty of tantalizing new space images in this batch. For instance, this aft shot of what appears to be a Prometheus variant has an interesting hull design.

This will be a weekly thing up until the launch of Star Trek Online, so keep your eyes peeled every Monday for a glimpse at something new to whet your Trek appetite. Hopefully we'll be able to help sate it, but if nothing else, at least there'll be pretty space ships to ogle on a regular basis.

SOE have released oodles of concept art and screenshots for The Green Arrow in DC Universe Online. In case you didn't know, he's green and uh, well he shoots arrows. He's also known as Oliver Jonas "Ollie" Queen and was originally created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp back in 1941.

He may not be Batman or Superman, but Ollie can toss punches with the best of 'em. Plus, he's a crack shot who can land an arrow directly between your eyes at unprecedented ranges. Plus, and we're sure some of you will find this amusing, he's a billionaire and former mayor.

We've got five brand new exclusive Star Trek Online screens fresh from Cryptic to gently glaze over your eyes into a glossy sheen, or not, if that's not your thing. In our opinion, this particular screen of what appears to be a Constitution class that's been heavily customized is definitely a favorite. Or wait, do we prefer the Borg cube exploding into pieces? It's kind of hard to pick a favorite.

Would we be nerdy to request some tasty screens of the newly revealed Discovery class vessel? In fact, just a bunch of screens of all the ships blasting hostiles would be just grand. Yep, that's not too demanding, especially considering this is a request coming from a bunch of Star Trek fans.

In the post-apocalyptic world of action MMO Earthrise you'll encounter bone-filled deserts, lush jungles, other-worldly forests and... alien hatcheries full of membrane fauna? Hmm, oh that's right this is a sci-fi game, so that's totally cool. Even still, sweeping vistas and mysterious looking locations are all present here, which is exactly what an exploring player hopes to see in an upcoming MMO.

Indeed, many of the new images are deliciously pretty -- just be aware that as you click through them, you're bound to come across that alien hatchery. Of course, if creepy alien hatcheries are what you're all about, then pleased you will certainly be.

So, you may have heard: Funcom is taking famous myths, urban legends, pop culture, history and even things like the Rota Fortunae and blending it all into a game called The Secret World. We sat down with lead designer Martin Brusgaar and creative director Ragnar Tornquist at PAX 2009 to discuss the game and a few of its many secrets.

The Secret World has a vibe unlike any other MMO or really game currently out there. Its premise is simple -- all the legends, myths and more are true. Atlantis is rising, vampires roam the night, 2012 is the beginning of a new fourth age and so on. The world is a dark, scary and magical place. The screens just keep on rolling out from Champions Online, and they keep getting more impressive, too. The image above is the perfect example of the pretty pretty pictures the people at Cryptic have become capable of taking. Although we recommend checking out the others, as there are many images of hero types never before shown.

To be honest, we're sort of jealous, because lately our screens have been of hairy luchadors instead of an assault rifle toting, back-flipping upside down heroine.

However, we can take solace in the knowledge that in a mere month we'll have every waking hour to snap screens. Maybe then our dream of time-traveling cyborg knights battling underwater fish people wallpaper can finally come true. That, or we'll see a bunch of DC and Marvel comics ripoffs roaming the world.

Gun-fu, robots with top hats and flame-embroidered bugs wielding guns are merely some of the descriptions for the ten new screens Cryptic has released for Champions Online. We know that a little while back we asked Cryptic to experiment more with screenshots and even though these are still action-focused, many of them are pretty awesome.

We're having a hard time deciding on our favorite. While the image above is certainly awesome due to its legendary high levels of robot-wearing-top-hat, the guy upside down in mid-air wielding two guns is exceptionally impressive in its own right. But, you've also got a guy with flaming arms kicking a humongous power armor-clad guy in the face.

Ah, who are we kidding? It's impossible to pick a favorite this time around -- at least for us. Maybe you'll have an easier time of it. You can find all ten images in the gallery below.

We know there's a lot of fighting in Champions Online, or as others might say: a butt-load. More specifically, the screens coming from Cryptic for a while now have emphasized conflict very profoundly. And yet, these latest images are very refreshing to see. Looking through our daily running feature, One Shots, it's easy to see why we feel that way. As much as combat is integral to this beloved genre, so is lush sprawling landscapes and dramatic, if not personal, moments.

Take the image above for example. Something about it makes you pause and study what's going on just a little longer than an image of somebody taking a claw swipe to the jugular. Hm, maybe we could get some sweet emote shots next time.

Dual-wielding guns at pointblank, screen distorting spells and clawed uppercuts are all in supply this week in Champions Online land. Either Cryptic put someone new in charge of grabbing screens, or these powers were just finally ready for their Hollywood closeup -- either way, we're happy to have them.

If you're curious about all of these powers, Cryptic's been doing quite a few mini-guides discussing each of the groups like energy or martial powers. Something tells us that these screens are only making those of you not in beta all the more impatient, but since open beta is literally two months away now, at least you won't have to wait much longer.

Today we've got four new Champions Online screens to share with you, courtesy of Cryptic Studios. Combat obviously plays a large role in these latest screens, as with many of the other screens we've been seeing for a while now. Hopefully, we'll get to see some new travel powers sometime soon, as we're pretty sure Cryptic has been working on adding more before launch.

But generally speaking, we never really tire of seeing screens from this game, especially when someone is getting smacked in the face with the backside of a sword. It's not pleasant, getting back-sworded, let us tell you. And something tells us that in the near future, we'll get some interesting new teaser screens. How do we know this? Just a statistical guess, really.

Until that happens, reveling in the utter violence of these screens will do just fine.
