With works like <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6D9K9xTmt0">Better Life</a> and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3_L02bxM0k">Stage</a>, he set the tone for deeply emotional <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/machinima/">machinima</a>. <br /><br />With Stage in particular, he showed the relationship between a father and a son as time passed on. He illustrated this with a train set and a piano. <a href="http://digitaldouble.blogspot.com/">Robbie</a> proves that you don't need a complicated storyline to evoke a response.<br /><br />If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/cinemassively-stage/">Cinemassively: Stage</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 04 Jun 2008 12:30:00 EST. <br />Looking back on 2007 in the machinima world we came across <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxVDVggLqsA">this</a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life/"><em>Second Life</em></a> piece by <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/robbie-dingo/">Robbie Dingo</a> which, though not new, bears the virtue of being one of the most creative pieces of machinima we've seen this year. (And though the YouTube version above gives you a good impression of what's happening, you may enjoy it more in <a href="http://s5.video.blip.tv/0570000590921/RobbieDingo-WatchTheWorlds851.mov">high resolution</a>.) Says Robbie, "Ever looked at your favorite painting and wished you could wander inside, to look at it from different perspectives?" In this film, we get to watch as Robbie recreates one of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Gogh">Van Gogh</a>'s best known works, Starry Night, within <em>Second Life</em> as a living environment. For those curious about the effort that went into this piece's construction, <a href="http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2007/07/remake-the-star.html">New World Notes</a> has all the details.<br /><br />[via <a href="http://machinimafordummies.com/">Machinima for Dummies</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/cinemassively-watch-the-world/">Cinemassively: Watch the World</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 09 Jan 2008 12:30:00 EST. Last month, he put out a <a href="http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2007/10/dingo-directs-s.html">call for picture submissions</a> for an unnamed <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/machinima/">Machinima</a>. He finally released the finished project today, a piece titled Mask. Using <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life/"><span style="font-style: italic;">Second Life</span></a> avatars, he effectively blended one person into the next, for over 100 people.<br /><br />One of the things I've always loved about Robbie's work is that he thinks outside of the box. Instead of producing standard corporate fluff, he engages residents with tales of the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6D9K9xTmt0">handicapped using <span style="font-style: italic;">SL</span> to fly</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3_L02bxM0k">fathers spending time with their children</a>, and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxVDVggLqsA">paintings coming to life</a>. Mask is no exception.<br /><br />[Thanks, <a href="http://www.machinimafordummies.com/">Johnnie</a>!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/13/cinemassively-mask/">Cinemassively: Mask</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 13 Nov 2007 12:30:00 EST.
