I'm looking forward to the Festivult events. I love sales, I love the Risia Ice Games (even though I stink at platforming), I love gathering Festivult coins, and I will love it even more once I have a cookie jar to stick all my new goodies in. There's even a giveaway that will award one lucky player 100,000 Turbine Points!

I had fun writing last week's newbie's guide to Festivult, and once it was done, I spent a fair amount of time browsing the DDO site and the forums in preparation for the upcoming events. In the middle of all my holiday fun and anticipation, I noticed something both on the forums and in game: discontent.

Wait, discontent over such a fun event? What's going on here? Who put this anger in my Festivult? Follow along after the jump as I take a closer look.

Festivult is coming to Stormreach! The Risia Ice Games are on their way back! Yes, it's July, and no, it's not another bug. Dungeons and Dragons Online is preparing to celebrate Festivult in July, and players will find special goodies everywhere they look.

Stormreach Harbor hasn't frozen over quite yet, but you'll find signs of Festivult here and there anyway: festival tokens are dropping -- don't forget to save them for the Festivult Jester -- and there are daily specials in the store. Soon you'll find hot cocoa, ice skates, and more in the DDO Store, and Winter Bonus Days will be bringing you a 20% XP boost for 10 days.

The celebration will last throughout July, so keep an eye out for a frozen harbor and watch the DDO site for updates.

Time flies when you're having fun: Dungeons and Dragons Online is about to celebrate its fourth birthday, and Turbine is ready to party.

We've already gotten a taste of the fun in the Risia Ice Games, but the celebration expanded yesterday with the addition of Taj the Festival Egg Collector. If you've got a character created before February 18, 2010 on any server, check your inventory for some special gifts. Head to the northern area of the Marketplace to find Taj (Hint: look for the crowd of players grouped together casting Haste, Feather fall, and Jump every few seconds. You'll find Taj near the center of the commotion.) Taj will send you on a fast-paced hunt throughout the Marketplace, and reward you with some nice prizes at the end depending on how well you did.

The Traveler's Scavenger Hunt isn't the only gift we're receiving, however. Break out the alts for leveling, because February 26-28 and March 5-7 will bring a 20% XP bonus to all players. The Risia Ice games are continuing for a few more weeks as well, so check out all the details on the official site before heading in for your presents!

The Risia Ice Games -- Turbine's homage to the Olympic Winter Games -- continue in Dungeons and Dragons Online, but all good things must come to an end.

Stormreach Harbor will enjoy its chilly new appearance for only two more weekends, and then it's time to say goodbye to the skating rink, ski jump, and Jack Frostbite. While you're waiting for the next round of Ice Games to begin, Turbine has provided a fresh round of screenshots from Update 3 to enjoy. Take a look at the gallery for the newest shots of the denizens of Stormreach enjoying the party, then head into Dungeons and Dragons Online to join them in the quest for the elusive purple ice coin.

The Risia Ice Games are every Thursday through Sunday for the remainder of February, and all the information can be found on the official site.

Dungeons and Dragons Online released Update 3 Tuesday, sending players in all directions to check out the new content once the servers went back up.

One of those directions was up, in the form of a ski jump in the suddenly frostbitten area of Stormreach Market. Welcome to the Risia Ice Games, a winter festival handily timed to coordinate with the 2010 Winter Games. While Update 3 hit some snags (which, for the most part, were quickly taken care of by Turbine) the Ice Games went off without a hitch.

Well, mostly. For the first few hours, cries of "What are these ice tokens?", "How do I get ice skates?", and "Why am I falling directly into the water at the end of the ski jump?" echoed across General Chat as players struggled to figure out what was going on. As with anything new, time and patience were the keywords in working it all out.

If you're still stumped and can't figure out where this half-pipe is that you keep hearing about, Dungeons and Dragons Online has provided a handy rundown to all of the events here. You'll find a list of where events and NPCs are, as well as different ways to acquire ice tokens, and what you can do with them once you have them.
