Gamigo announced today that its free-to-play sci-fi MMORPG Black Prophecy now comes bundled with the gaming-centric IM client Raptr. For those of you not in the know, Raptr is a multi-protocol instant messaging client that allows gamers to keep in touch with their IM friends while in-game, while also allowing players to see what their friends are playing and arrange to join their friends' games.

To commemorate the union of game and IM client, gamigo is hosting a promotion, which is going on now and will end on September 16th, 2011. To participate, players have to scamper over to Black Prophecy's Raptr page, follow it, and leave comments on the stories posted each day. What can players win for their troubles? Well, 20 lucky players will receive an in-game prize pack, which includes a 30-day Character Card, 10 XP bonus consumables, five Concentration Boost consumables, and an in-game Synaptic Impairment Protection II item. Four grand-prize winners will receive all of that plus a top-of-the-line gaming joystick "with a total of over $2000 in gear and in-game items." Who doesn't love free stuff, right? So what are you waiting for? Get on it, space cowboy.
Gamigo celebrates Black Prophecy + Raptr bundle with giveaways originally appeared on Massively on Thu, 01 Sep 2011 19:00:00 EST. SUBA Games, the company behind Bounty Hounds Online, has been offering some pretty exciting contests for the game's beta testers.

The latest one is on an even bigger scale, and Massively has joined forces with Raptr and the Bounty Hounds Online team to give players the chance to win NOX headsets, a Razer mouse and keyboard, and piles of in-game currency for BHO. The event is divided into three contests, so you've got several different ways to win. There's a contest for captioning a screenshot, one for hours logged via Raptr, and one for pure random luck.

You can get all the details on the Bounty Hounds Online forums. The contest lasts until September 5th, so get your entries in and good luck!
Massively teams up with Raptr and Bounty Hounds Online for piles of gaming prizes originally appeared on Massively on Thu, 25 Aug 2011 13:00:00 EST.

Raptr, a social networking app for gamers, has turned its eyes to DC Universe Online players in a recent report. By breaking down player demographics, the site was able to piece together common trends and paint an overall picture of the DCUO playerbase.

So who is playing DCUO (while using Raptr)? The first bit of surprising news is that these gamers aren't necessarily superhero fanatics, at least not according to the other types of games they play. These players didn't tend to have City of Heroes and Champions Online as their other go-to games in the top 10, for example.

Actually, Raptr found that DCUO players are most likely to be into the MMORPG genre as a whole, as well as multiplayer games like Call of Duty: Black Ops and League of Legends. The report speculates that there may be a connection between DCUO's fast action gameplay and these other titles: "While there are a number of MMORPGs listed, it's interesting to see some FPS, and RTS in the mix. This could be because DCUO prides itself in being a deep MMO mixed with action-oriented gameplay more akin to RTS or FPS games."

World of Warcraft and EVE Online were the two biggest MMOs that DCUO players also enjoyed, while these players found themselves stealing time away from WoW and Aion to head over to DCUO for their gaming sessions.
Raptr has become one of the more popular game community systems out there, and odds are good that several of our readers already use it for tracking playtime and messaging across multiple games. The team behind the client has teamed up with Suba Games to provide a pretty interesting promotion, offering MAT players a chance to earn some goodies for both the game and Raptr itself. And as with most player-friendly promotions, all you have to do is sign up and play.

The promotion is structured around playtime within the game, with players qualifying for better prizes the longer they remain in-game. MAT itself is an MMOFPS structured around players wielding real-world weapons against the usual army of zombies, mummies, and other supernatural undead scourges. If it sounds like the sort of thing that might tickle your fancy for the weekend, take a look at the official page to sign up -- after all, there are worse ways to spend some downtime on the weekend than shooting zombies.
Raptr and MAT offer prizes for killing zombies originally appeared on Massively on Sat, 29 Jan 2011 20:00:00 EST. Raptr is a pretty ambitious project, even if you think about what has been accomplished so far. Essentially, the service is connecting all of your gaming-related services under one profile, one messenger, and one new iPhone app. Think of it as your Trillian messenger for gamers. I have a short history with Raptr but never really warmed up to it until recently. I wanted a service that would allow all of my friends, across all of the different networks that I visit, to see what and how much I am playing.

Now that I have made a newer profile and have really started adding a few friends, I am sort of shocked at it's usefullness. Not only does it let me sign in to most of the major messaging services, game networks and social services like Facebook, but it allows me to see what my friends are doing as well, in some very specific ways.
I was excited to get a chance to talk to Raptr CEO Dennis Fong and was impressed by how such an ambitious idea has now turned into a real, working application.
Continue reading Massively talks with Raptr's Dennis Fong

Massively talks with Raptr's Dennis Fong originally appeared on Massively on Tue, 20 Jul 2010 13:00:00 EST. It looks like the guys an gals over at Raptr were listening when we asked for Warhammer Online support, because as of today it's here. The service will track your characters' items and stats through a module on your Raptr page so anyone can see what you're wearing whenever they like. Your Raptr status will also update whenever you gain a new piece of equipment, level or renown rank. Bragging rights have always been an important component in completing any MMORPG experience and with the additional support of Raptr you can really rub that purple "Sword of Bowel Movement" into everyonce's faces. Not you'd want to, considering the implied usage of your epic equipment.

As long as we're feeling like we may have a little pull here (though this is probably all coincidental) we would also suggest adding support for other MMO titles like Lord of the Rings Online, Everquest 2, City of Heroes and Guild Wars. We've got plenty of friends who play more than one MMO at a time and being able to keep track of them all would certainly be nice.
Raptr adds Warhammer Online support originally appeared on Massively on Fri, 26 Sep 2008 19:00:00 EST. If you're the type of person who loves to watch (re: stalk) their friends and Twitter just isn't doing it for you, then check out the Raptr beta. This nifty social networking site focuses on gaming and will track your activity over a plethora of platforms and games such as Steam, Xbox Live, Spore and of course World of Warcraft. Now you can gloat about your blue "Pants of Sundering Sauce" even when you're out of the game! If you decide to install the Raptr client it will check on all your PC games and download new updates for them, which is wonderful as we love anything that makes updating our games easier.

With the recent addition of Spore updates to the service, we're hoping that Warhammer Online will get some love from the folks at Raptr as well. How cool would it be if Raptr updated your page as you won Scenarios or captured an enemy stronghold?
Raptr tracks you and your friends' WoW progress, plus more originally appeared on Massively on Mon, 22 Sep 2008 16:00:00 EST.
