More information pours in regarding the upcoming <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.playonline.com">Final Fantasy XI</a> July <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/july-version-update">version update</a>, and the news is all very positive. No nerfs are hiding on the horizon for the game -- instead <a href="http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/4692/detail.html">it's just clear sailing</a> with improvements to combat skill progression, circle protection spells, and blue magic.<br /><br />All players will be happy to see Square-Enix has noted that <a href="http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Combat_Skill">combat and magic skills</a> are suffering while players level quicker via the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/05/starting-out-in-vanadiel-the-fields-of-valor/">Fields of Valor quests</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/30/why-you-should-be-playing-final-fantasy-xi-level-sync/">level sync</a>. Because players are spending less time in each level, their skills in combat and magic are simply not advancing fast enough. To combat this, the rate of advancement for skill in weapons and magic has been boosted for the low and mid levels of the game.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/more-adjustments-to-final-fantasy-xi-jobs-with-the-next-version/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>More adjustments to Final Fantasy XI jobs with the next version update</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/09/more-adjustments-to-final-fantasy-xi-jobs-with-the-next-version/">More adjustments to Final Fantasy XI jobs with the next version update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 09 Jul 2009 17:00:00 EST. A friend's roommate's cousin once got his <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com"><em>WoW</em></a> account hacked. The hacker took all of his character's items and gold, and left a few naked, violated characters to fend for themselves. It conjures the same feelings as coming home to find your house has been broken into, or walking out to the driveway in the morning to find your car is gone.<br /><br />There has been a recent phenomenon of hacked accounts lately, more than ever. <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft">WoW</a></em> had a recent problem with <a href="http://www.xfire.com">Xfire</a>, and several people got their accounts hacked. The leader of Rebel Rising [rawr], one of the top PvP guilds in <a href="http://www.guildwars.com"><em>Guild Wars</em></a> <a href="http://www.teamquitter.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7321">just got their account hacked</a> and the hacker disbanded the entire [rawr] alliance and deleted the guild. This is a guild that had worked for years to establish itself in the <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/guild-wars">GW</a></em> PvP community, including its very own tournament cup named after them. But the fact that it can all go away so easily, as it did from one hacker, makes us aware of the inherent dangers and vulnerabilities we face in this environment.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/how-easily-can-your-account-be-hacked/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How easily can your account be hacked?</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/27/how-easily-can-your-account-be-hacked/">How easily can your account be hacked?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 27 May 2008 19:30:00 EST. People with only a cursory knowledge of a given game, or people who are working through the game for the first time, often see these dynamics as mysterious and unpredictable. Even veteran players often have little idea what is going on within a class they've interacted with for months. Among these enigmatic groups is <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft's</em></a> Paladin class. Blessing of Kings' Rohan <a href="http://blessingofkings.blogspot.com/2007/10/paladin-community.html">gives us a brief primer</a> of the Paladin community, ostensibly to promote a greater understanding of a class that seems to want to have it all.<br /><br />At the crux of the conflict, according to Rohan, is that the Paladin community is split into three camps according to the roles they want to fulfill. Holy paladins want a greater variety of healing abilities to supplement their role as primary healer in most raids, Retribution paladins want greater DPS and increased raid viability, and Protection/Hybrid paladins are generally supportive of any kind of buff, provided it doesn't result in heavy specialization into either the Holy or Retribution archetypes. The result? No matter what changes are made, whether in healing, DPS, or utility, the community as a whole doesn't sound happy. That's not uncommon in a game as big as <em>WoW</em>, but it's particularly pronounced for Paladins.<br /><br />The one point on which the Paladin community is likely to come to a consensus though, is that they would <strong>all</strong> look really spiffy in a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/03/wow-giveaways-the-finale-win-a-murloc-suit/">brand new murloc suit</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/05/a-primer-of-the-wow-paladin-community/">A primer on the WoW Paladin community</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 05 Nov 2007 11:05:00 EST.
