Clearly not a heroic effort.</p>
<p>However, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/cryptic/">Cryptic's</a> furnished us with an actual manual at long-last! While not what you would call cosmically complete, it <em>does</em> have the honor of being the largest collection of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/champions-online/"><em>Champions Online</em></a> information published in a single document, and sheds a bit more light on some of the more obscure mechanics that are frequently debated on zone-chat.</p>
<p>There's a whole lot more it could cover - it is perhaps only half as long as we think it should be, but if you're curious and sifting through forums doesn't appeal, <a href="http://files.champions-online.com/manual/COtextmanual.pdf">the new PDF manual may just have the answers that you're looking for</a>.</p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/09/13/champions-delivers-manual-labor/">Champions delivers manual labor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 13 Sep 2009 20:00:00 EST. <p>As a part of his keynote presentation today at this year's <em><a href="http://www.slconvention.org/">Second Life Community Convention</a></em>, Linden Lab's Tom Hale has unveiled a new plug-in framework for the <a href="http://secondlife.com/"><em>Second Life</em></a> viewer. The <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life"><em>Second Life</em></a> </em>viewer has hitherto been restricted to rendering media content that was supported either by its browser component or by the use of Apple's <a href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/">Quicktime</a>. Quicktime is certainly quite workable, but only provides a subset of the extensive range of potentially viewable media that's out there.</p>
<p>The introduction of the LLMedia API looks to change all that, by allowing a straightforward plug-in system to extend the viewer's ability to render various arbitrary kinds of parcel media.</p><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/16/linden-lab-s-tom-hale-announces-second-life-support-for-media-pl/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Linden Lab's Tom Hale announces Second Life support for media plug-ins</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/16/linden-lab-s-tom-hale-announces-second-life-support-for-media-pl/">Linden Lab's Tom Hale announces Second Life support for media plug-ins</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 16 Aug 2009 13:00:00 EST. Those gamers in the EU who jump into <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/chronicles-of-spellborn"><em>The Chronicles of Spellborn</em></a> are able to buy the title as <a href="http://www.amazon.de/Frogster-Interactive-Pictures-Chronicles-Spellborn/dp/B001KEMGHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1240853331&amp;sr=8-1">a boxed product</a> and thus get the art book which accompanies the box release, but no such luck for North American players. That is, until now. <br /><br />Acclaim has opted to release the art book as a free PDF file, which you can find over at <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com">MMORPG.com</a>. It's a nice, in-depth look at the game spanning 151 pages of art content and lore. The High Houses, the game's myriad Inhabitants, and of course weapons and armor are all included in <em>The Chronicles of Spellborn</em> art book. If you're already into <em>TCoS</em> or are just curious about it, be sure to <a href="http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?page=1&amp;feature=2968&amp;bhcp=1&amp;game=207">grab your free download at MMORPG.com</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/28/the-chronicles-of-spellborn-art-book-now-available-as-free-pdf/">The Chronicles of Spellborn art book now available as free PDF</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 28 Apr 2009 16:00:00 EST. The title's developer CCP Games is attempting to remedy this. One of the resources that complements <em>EVE Online</em>'s New Player Experience in the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/apocrypha"><em>Apocrypha</em> expansion</a> is the "EVE Careers Guide", which introduces new players to the gameplay possibilities in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/29/eve-visual-guide-the-birth-of-new-eden/">New Eden</a>. It's largely put together by Benilopax of <a href="http://www.warpdriveactive.com/category/industry-podcast/">Warp Drive Active: Industry podcast</a> fame and Richie Shoemaker (aka "Zapatero"), the Editor of <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/eon/">E-ON</a> -- the official magazine of <em>EVE Online</em> -- who we've <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/04/massively-interviews-e-on-editor-zapatero/">interviewed at Massively</a> in the past. The <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/careerguide/">EVE Careers Guide</a> is a PDF file with interactive links throughout to navigate between sections, providing a comprehensive look at the game for rookie pilots. <br /><br />Zapatero welcomes new players to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em> <em>Online</em></a>, explaining the game in broad terms: <em>"Many have found their own path in EVE by taking turns that are wildly divergent from what its makers envisaged. EVE is about relationships, prejudices, trust, greed and creativity more than it's about spaceships, trade and combat. New Eden is a very human universe, and with almost 300,000 people making up the population, it's a very dynamic one. Yes, it's harsh and uncompromising, frustrating and callous, but it's also illuminating in scope, vast in stature and utterly unique." </em><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/20/eve-careers-guide-available-as-free-download/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Careers Guide available as free download</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/20/eve-careers-guide-available-as-free-download/">EVE Careers Guide available as free download</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 20 Mar 2009 19:30:00 EST.
