<p>A change is as good as a holiday, they say. Seriously, I don't actually know anyone who says this other than myself; though I'm assured that there are some folks out there who do.</p>
<p>With that tragically underutilized platitude in mind, then, last week I posed a question to a spread of well-known virtual environment users (at least to those that I felt would actually respond) and collected the responses.</p>
<p>The question put to the respondents was "<em>What's the single thing that the operators/developers could do to make you feel more satisfied with their virtual environment offering; what thing would help an operator keep you as a customer, or that would make some other operator more appealing than the one or ones you already have?</em>"</p><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/08/the-virtual-whirl-vox-virtualis/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Virtual Whirl: Vox virtualis</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/05/08/the-virtual-whirl-vox-virtualis/">The Virtual Whirl: Vox virtualis</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 08 May 2010 16:00:00 EST. In a special report, she has <a href="http://ordinalmalaprop.com/engine/2008/04/27/an-illustration-of-the-cosmology-of-the-grid/">divulged the fruits of her diverse and manifold investigations</a> into the very heart of the grid, so that all her fellows may learn and profit from from these revelations.</p>
<p>Every user should familiarize themselves with these cosmological mechanics, for the value of such learning can in no way be underestimated.<br /></p>

<p>Cel Edman (aka Elout de Kok outside of <a target="_blank" href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/second-life"><em>Second Life</em></a>) has withdrawn his popular, and free displacement map creation tool <a target="_blank" href="http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/2007/08/17/tools-of-the-trade-sculptypaint/">Sculptypaint</a> for several days citing piracy of the packs of textures that he sells as the root cause, as well as slow and half-hearted response to DMCA notices by Linden Lab.</p>
<p>While Edman doesn't name specific names of those stealing the texture packs that he sells to fund development and distribution of the popular tool, he <em>does</em> finger one specific group for distributing his commercial products, a group called the Mental Mentors.</p><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/second-life-tool-suspended-author-blames-linden-labs-dmca-proc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Second Life tool suspended, author blames Linden Lab's DMCA procedures, mentor piracy</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/06/second-life-tool-suspended-author-blames-linden-labs-dmca-proc/">Second Life tool suspended, author blames Linden Lab's DMCA procedures, mentor piracy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 06 Mar 2008 17:45:00 EST.
