With <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/wakfu/"><em>WAKFU's</em></a> launch <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/27/wakfu-releasing-february-29th-stress-test-coming-this-weekend/">rapidly approaching later this month</a>, the information is pouring forth fast and furious from this free-to-play title. One of the biggest questions that players have at this stage is just how a game is going to make its money, and in the case of <em>WAKFU</em>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ankama">Ankama</a> is certainly hoping that the experience is fun enough to warrant a regular subscription.<br />
<br />
If you're already on board with the <em>WAKFU </em>philosophy and wish to subscribe for a premium membership, then Ankama has <a href="http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/community/news/284341-wakfu-become-pioneer-today">a few great pre-launch offers</a> for you. By signing up for three, six, or 12-month plans, you can net yourself plenty of in-game items as well as the esteemed title of "<em>WAKFU </em>Pioneer."<br />
<br />
Ankama has also published <a href="http://www.wakfu.com/na/mmorpg/discovery/why-subscribe-to-wakfu">a helpful chart</a> illustrating the differences between the F2P and subscription plans -- such as whether or not you can become an eco-terrorist (we kid you not). Other differences include the ability to own a home vs. set up an in-game shop, how many professions you can master (six vs. 16), and whether or not you can run for office.<br />

Do business culture and the principles of online gaming belong together?<br /><br />Two entrepreneurs in Palo Alto <a href="http://media.www.brockpress.com/media/storage/paper384/news/2007/11/06/Business/New-Business.Practices.Inspired.By.Online.Gaming-3082462.shtml">think so</a>. Inspired by <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life"><em>Second Life</em></a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>, they theorized that principles used in the management of online game communities could be used to manage businesses. They formed a company called <a href="http://www.seriosity.com/">Seriosity</a> and its maiden voyage is a product called <a href="http://www.seriosity.com/products.html">Attent</a>. It's their first gaming-inspired product, but they want to launch more in the future. Learn more about it after the jump.<br /> <p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/run-your-company-like-an-online-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Run your company like an online game</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/run-your-company-like-an-online-game/">Run your company like an online game</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 21:50:00 EST. <div align="left">As fans of NBC's hit 'The Office' are probably well aware, last Thursday's episode "The Ad" gave a fair bit of screen time to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life"><em>Second Life</em></a>. Games don't usually get a terribly fair treatment in popular media, as writers tend to perpetuate popular stereotypes about players as unsociable, unhealthy, or both for the sake of making an easy joke.<br /><br />And while we have to concede that The Office's take on <em>Second Life</em> <strong>did</strong><em> </em>focus on the escapism for which many people play the game, the punchlines were in all the right places. (See: Dwight's <em>Second Life</em> character playing an MMO within the MMO, to help escape further.) Check out the full episode on <a href="http://www.nbc.com/The_Office/video/episodes.shtml">NBC's website</a>, it's a good one.</div>
