With the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/05/guild-wars-players-get-two-new-companions/">recent news of two new allies joining the fray</a> for <a href="http://www.guildwars.com"><em>Guild Wars</em></a>, you may be excited about the new game mechanics that both the <a href="http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/M.O.X.">M.O.X. hero</a> and the <a href="http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fire_Imp_(summon)">Fire Imp helper</a> bring to the game. We may even go so far as to say that these game mechanics could be a glimpse into what's to come with <a href="http://wiki.guildwars2.com"><em>Guild Wars 2</em></a> game mechanics. <a href="http://www.arena.net">ArenaNet</a> has already said that there will be a 'sidekick' in <em>Guild Wars 2</em>, but is the Fire Imp a precursor to that?<br /><br />Speculations aside, these two new companions have caused a stir lately. First, there are those who inevitably say that M.O.X. is overpowered. There are those who say the Fire Imp is simply a free ticket to the Survivor title. There are those who say that these are both ways for ArenaNet to scrape up some more money for <em>Guild Wars 2</em> development. Whatever outlandish rumors you believe, they're here and they're changing the way we play the game just a bit. <br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/guild-wars-companions-m-o-x-the-golem/"><strong>Follow along as we give these two a proper introduction and explain the facts about what they are exactly&gt;&gt;</strong></a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/08/the-newest-guild-wars-companions-explained/">The newest Guild Wars companions explained</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 08 Sep 2008 20:00:00 EST. Well, the time has arrived and <a href="http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/M.O.X.">M.O.X. the golem</a> is ready for action! His primary profession is Dervish, and he is touted as being the largest hero in the game. Not only that, but in true Dervish fashion, he can change into five different forms. As most other heroes, M.O.X. needs a quest to unlock him, and he can be found just outside the port cities of Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center and Kamadan.<br /><br />In addition to M.O.X., we're also surprised with another NPC companion. <a href="http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Fire_Imp_Ally">The Fire Imp</a> is considered your very own leveling buddy which is available only to players below level 20. He can only join you for 60 minutes at a time, and has certain other restrictions to make him more of a special sidekick than a constant companion. You can check out the website for more detailed information on acquiring these special allies, including the lore-riffic backstory on M.O.X. and a video of one of his Dervish form transformations.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/05/guild-wars-players-get-two-new-companions/">Guild Wars players get two new companions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 05 Sep 2008 09:30:00 EST. This new hero is named <a href="http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/M.O.X._the_Golem">M.O.X. the Golem</a>, and he is an Asuran construct, quoted as being "the ultimate in magic, mechanised party protection." He will be a Dervish class and not available in PvP at all.<br /><br />However, there's more to the story. This new Hero will be made available in the new <em>Guild Wars: The Complete Collection</em> set due for release on September 5th, 2008. This edition will include all three <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/guild-wars/">Guild Wars</a></em> campaigns, plus the only expansion, <a href="http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Image:Guild_Wars_Eye_of_the_North_logo.png"><em>Eye of the North</em></a>. That's not to say it will only be available through this purchased set though, as anyone who owns all three core campaigns on their account as of this Hero's September release date will get their hands on M.O.X.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/new-hero-added-to-the-guild-wars-npc-line-up/">New Hero added to the Guild Wars NPC line-up</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 14 Aug 2008 20:00:00 EST.
