If you had $15,000.00, what would you do with it? Pay some bills? Maybe upgrade a few holiday gifts? Well, if you're the guy featured in this video from <a href="http://news.mmosite.com/content/2010-11-23/crazy_gamer_played_mmo_on_7500_square_meters_led.shtml">MMOsite</a>, apparently the thing to do with all that spare cash is renting out the biggest honking video screen one can find and playing an MMO. Yes, indeed, for the low, low price of roughly 1,500 dollars a minute, you too can subject random passers-by to a raw display of your mad online skillz and leetness for a whopping 10 minutes. <br />
<br />
All joking aside, this guy has managed to pull off one crazy stunt -- being the first MMO gamer to get his game on across a gobsmackingly enormous freaking screen. (The second-longest LCD screen in the world, even.) As for the game of choice? If you guessed <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>, you'd be wrong. Apparently his online poison of choice is a game called <a href="http://m2.12ha.com/"><em>Magic World Online 2</em></a>. (Although after looking at the site, perhaps it's not that far off.) What's next? Well, we'll wait for the inevitable e-peenery of someone renting out the entirety of <a href="http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/may/05/who-produces-fremont-street-experience-shows/">Fremont street's 1,500-foot long</a> Las Vegas LCD skyscreen. For those who would like to see this particular display, the video is embedded behind the break.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/29/gamer-pays-a-buttload-of-cash-to-play-an-mmo-on-a-huge-screen/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Gamer pays a buttload of cash to play an MMO on a huge screen</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/29/gamer-pays-a-buttload-of-cash-to-play-an-mmo-on-a-huge-screen/">Gamer pays a buttload of cash to play an MMO on a huge screen</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 29 Nov 2010 16:00:00 EST. <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/mmo-family/">MMO Family</a> is your resource for leveling a gaming-specced family ... From tips on balancing gaming with family life to finding age-appropriate niches for every family member, MMO Family offers you advice on MMO gaming of the family, by the family and for the family.</em><br />
<br />
If you've been following along here at MMO Family, you'll know we keep a pretty big toolbox. What works for one family won't fit another, so we believe in offering a lot of different options. You can't possibly use every tool at once -- or maybe you could, although you probably shouldn't. You'd be one busy parent if you attempted to wield all <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/09/mmo-family-17-internet-safety-tactics-for-gaming-families/">17 internet safety tactics</a> at once for every child, every day. You'd never have time to actually log in and play if you ran every <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/16/mmo-family-con-your-games-like-a-pro/">game screening technique</a> known to man ... Treat all these tactics like a buffet, and load up your plate with the ideas you think fit your family's taste. <br />
<br />
That said, we've got another big tool for the box this week: parental controls. These settings on your computer, game consoles and individual games let you limit access to game features you don't want your children to use. You can use parental controls to determine what games your kids play (and block those <a href="http://www.esrb.org/ratings/index.jsp ">M-rated games</a> borrowed from the friend at school), who they're playing them with and when they're playing them.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/11/06/mmo-family-parental-control-tools/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>MMO Family: Parental control tools</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/11/06/mmo-family-parental-control-tools/">MMO Family: Parental control tools</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 06 Nov 2009 15:30:00 EST. With <em><a href="http://www.eve-online.com/empyreanage/">Empyrean Age</a></em> finally released, I wanted to give it a try to get this old Carebear in some pew pew action. Since my main character, Treenara Mazouk, was part of an industrial corporation that wanted to remain neutral throughout this war time, I decided to create an alternate character (Alt) to test out Factional Warfare.<br /><br />What I didn't know, and didn't expect, was being humbled by the whole experience. You see, I've been immersed in <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/"><span style="font-style: italic;">EVE Online</span></a> for almost four years now, and playing a new character reminded me how much work new players have to go through to get ahead<span style="font-style: italic;"></span>. Talk about a major flashback!<br /><br />Despite my experience and knowledge of the game, I still felt very limited by my new characters (lack of) abilities, assets and skills. It reminded me of my early days in New Eden, and how little I knew of what to do, where to go or who to ask. Through it all, I've gained a respect for the brave new players who start off in New Eden.<br /><br />I felt I needed to do something about this. Something more then <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/26/twelve-handy-links-for-eve-online-newbies/">the initial list</a> I had made a few months back. The following is a list of 3 basic tools that I feel every new capsuleer should have in order to survive the harsh landscape of the <span style="font-style: italic;">EVE </span>universe. So strap yourselves in, buckle-up and start taking notes.<br /><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/have-clone-will-travel-3-essential-tools-for-capsuleers/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Have Clone, Will Travel: 3 Essential Tools for Capsuleers</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/19/have-clone-will-travel-3-essential-tools-for-capsuleers/">Have Clone, Will Travel: 3 Essential Tools for Capsuleers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 19 Jun 2008 06:30:00 EST. Widget</a>, a slick little widget that shows all the important stats for your character, including where your skill training is at, and how long you've got left. It doesn't have nearly as much functionality as EVEMon, obviously, but if you want to watch your SP rise at work where applications aren't allowed, but <a href="http://widgets.yahoo.com/download/">widgets are</a>, it's perfect.<br /><br />And though it used to ask for your name and password (a security risk if there ever was one), it now works through <a href="http://myeve.eve-online.com/api/doc/default.asp"><em>EVE</em>'s API key program</a>, so you don't have to worry about giving an untrusted program all your personal info. According <a href="http://www.neoscrib.com/index.php?page=project&amp;id=37067900.">to the changelog</a>, it hasn't been updated too recently, but if you're looking for a low-footprint way to track your SP, and figure out whether Tranquility is up or down (so you can pine for the vastness of space while trapped in your tiny cubicle at work), here it is.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/eve-online-skill-monitor-widget-monitors-your-skills/">EVE Online Skill Monitor widget monitors your skills</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 08 Jan 2008 13:30:00 EST. Ah, it seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating our <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/2-week-birthday/">two-week anniversary</a> by giving away a <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P6MOG2/ref=pd_cp_e_2/105-0356481-0239673?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=center-41&amp;pf_rd_r=1S4GM6Q7NJYY60BYWM2S&amp;pf_rd_t=201&amp;pf_rd_p=250314601&amp;pf_rd_i=B000NKU5H0">24" Samsung SyncMaster 245BW LCD monitor</a> and an <a href="http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-e-GeForce-8800GTS-Superclocked-Video/dp/B000NGNRV0/ref=tag_dpp_lp_edpp_ttl_in/104-6034427-1696756?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1193375729&amp;sr=1-1">EVGI 8800 GeForce 320Mb PCI-E SLI-compatible video card</a>. Both of them get the opportunity to enjoy their favorite games with a much better view. Congrats to both of them!<br /><br />For those of you wondering about our <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/massive-giveaways/">other contests</a>, hang tight.
