The <a href="http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Mog_House">Mog House</a> has always been one of the venues for <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a> players to show off their creativity and personal sense of style, even more so when it became possible at long last for other adventurers to step inside. <a href="http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/">Allakhazam</a> knows that it's one of the most celebrated parts of the game as well, which is why they've launched <a href="http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/wiki/2010_Mog_House_Decorating_Contest">the first Mog House decorating contest</a>. Arrange your furniture carefully, mail in some images of your uniquely adorned home, and you could find your dwelling renowned for its taste (and potential <a href="http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Moghancements">Moghancement</a> benefits).<br />
<br />
Entries on the contest run until April 12th, with judging to conclude on April 20th via on-site poll. There are, of course, the usual requirements for all entries to be safe for work and not involve any hacking of the game client. Prizes include a signed copy of the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Distant-Worlds-music-Final-Fantasy/dp/B000YFCQSK">Distant Worlds CD</a> and a Japanese calligraphy set to help decorate the place you <em>actually</em> live, which is a nice touch. For full rules and submission guidelines, take a look at <a href="http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/wiki/2010_Mog_House_Decorating_Contest">the contest page</a>. Or you could just start by beautifying your home away from home, something most <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Final-Fantasy-XI/"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a> players are inclined to do anyway.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/02/house-decoration-contest-running-for-final-fantasy-xi/">House decoration contest running for Final Fantasy XI</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 02 Apr 2010 21:00:00 EST. </a></div>
The <a href="http://ff14-rp.webs.com/">Final Fantasy XIV Roleplaying Coaliton</a> is now officially open to the public. If you want my opinion, you should head over there and register, but as one of the charter members I may be just a wee bit biased. Scratch that -- I'm a lot biased, because I tend to think that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/roleplaying/">roleplaying</a> is one of the most important parts of MMOs as a whole.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, it's an important part that all too often gets mired in a lack of understanding, and so it falls on me to abuse my saopbox and elaborate. Because there's a picture of roleplayers in the minds of the non-roleplaying public, one that involves speaking in a parody of the early <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_Quest"><em>Dragon Warrior</em></a> games at best and questionable romantic practices at worst. There's even a sense that most game companies assume roleplayers will just make the best out of the situation no matter what the game is like, making anything added just for roleplaying a pointless addition.<br />
<br />
These assumptions are incorrect. And considering how much <a href="http://www.square-enix.com">Square-Enix</a> has already done in favor of roleplaying in <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a>, I have high hopes for <a href="http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a>. We need roleplayers, and even if you don't consider them a big deal, odds are good you've felt the influence from them.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/02/20/the-mog-log-know-your-roleplay/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Mog Log: Know your roleplay</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/02/20/the-mog-log-know-your-roleplay/">The Mog Log: Know your roleplay</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 20 Feb 2010 13:00:00 EST. Hello again adventurers! <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/starting-out-in-vanadiel">Today's topic</a> is once again back on hard gaming ground <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/19/starting-out-in-vanadiel-community-controls-and-cooperation/">instead of community theory</a> as I introduce quests and their purpose.<br /><br />Questing in<span style="font-style: italic;"> <a href="http://www.playonline.com">Final Fantasy XI</a></span> is not like questing in other games. Quests exist, but they don't jump out at you with bright yellow exclamation points. NPCs don't scream, "I have things for you to do for me!" Quests don't hold your hand as you pursue their goals. Also, most importantly, quests don't reward experience.<br /><br />So why bother, right? If you're only going to get come cruddy gold and maybe an item, why should you spend your time doing the quest? Beautiful question, and a very accurate one. Let's take a look at the quest system, what it has to offer you, and how to find some quests at your level with ease.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/starting-out-in-vanadiel-questing-and-you/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Starting out in Vana'diel: Questing and you</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/24/starting-out-in-vanadiel-questing-and-you/">Starting out in Vana'diel: Questing and you</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 24 Mar 2009 17:30:00 EST. If you feel dainty and pretty, oh so pretty, then perhaps you should stop by <em><a href="http://www.playonline.com">Final Fantasy XI</a></em>'s <a href="http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/topics/special/090216.html">Doll Festival</a>, going on now until March 3rd in Vana'diel!<br /><br />The Doll Festival is the yearly celebration of the women of Vana'diel, where all wish happiness and health to the young girls and women in the world. Each year the cities are dressed up in a very elegant and formal fashion, while adventurers can look forward to collecting the yearly <a href="http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Festival_Dolls">festival dolls</a> and <a href="http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Bonbori">bonbori lanterns</a> which can be used to decorate your mog house.<br /><br />Collecting these items from your local neighborhood moogles can earn you good fortunes and decoration bonuses for your mog house, so don't turn down the free items when the moogles are just handing them out on street corners! Moogles will be stationed in northern and southern San d'Oria, the mines and markets of Bastok, and Woods and Waters districts of Windurst.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/02/25/final-fantasy-xi-begins-the-doll-festival-event/">Final Fantasy XI begins the Doll Festival event</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 25 Feb 2009 20:00:00 EST.
