Heading to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/pax-east">PAX East</a> this weekend? If so, you're in good company, as the Massively and Joystiq crews are going too! <a href="http://thriftynerd.com/2012/03/thrifty-nerds-pax-east-2012-strategy-guide/">ThriftyNerd</a> has put together a brief PAX strategy guide, and it's well worth a look if you don't have your itinerary planned out to the minute (or heck, even if you do, because you might have forgotten something).<br />
<br />
The guide has a rundown on essential <a href="http://guidebook.com/g/paxeast2012/">mobile apps</a> as well as plenty of tips for both the seasoned con-goer and the wet-behind-the-ears rookie. Be sure to follow Massively all weekend as we'll be bringing you all the best MMO news direct from Boston.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/05/get-your-pax-strategy-guides-here/">Get your PAX strategy guides here</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 05 Apr 2012 17:00:00 EST. If you or your children are fond of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Nickelodeon/">Nickelodeon</a>'s <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Monkey-Quest/">Monkey Quest</a></em>, you may have run into the unavoidable problem that the game requires you to be home. Like many other games, however, <em>Monkey Quest</em> is hopping on the mobile bandwagon with <em>Monkey Quest: Thunderbow</em>. <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/monkey-quest-thunderbow/id485191565?mt=8">Available now for the iPhone and iPad</a>, the game stars a specific monkey from the world of Ook, the eponymous Thunderbow, as he seeks to dethrone the evil cat king Zotan.<br />
<br />
Gameplay is managed in a similar style as the popular <em>Angry Birds</em> games, with the caveat being that <em>Angry Birds</em> doesn't allow you to earn special items and equipment for use in the main <em>Monkey Quest</em> game. Regular updates are planned for the game to help keep players engaged and interested as Thunderbow continues his quest. So if you've got one of the portable devices and your child can't get enough monkey business, it's <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/monkey-quest-thunderbow/id485191565?mt=8">worth a look</a>.<br />

In the past, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ncsoft">NCsoft</a> has been rather cautious about mobile gaming, and aside from dipping a toe in the pool with an <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/aion"><em>Aion</em></a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/10/19/ncsoft-releases-aion-exchange-app-for-ios/">smartphone app</a>, the South Korean game developer has remained on the sidelines. Yesterday the company announced that it's diving in headfirst via the acquisition of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/hotdog-studio">Hotdog Studio</a>, a Seoul-based mobile developer known for <em>Dark Shrine</em>.<br />
<br />
We've known <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/03/pax-2010-arenanet-announces-guild-wars-2-app-for-smartphones-an/">for some time</a> now that NCsoft also has plans to include mobile functionality with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/guild-wars-2"><em>Guild Wars 2</em></a>, and its iOS/Android program will enable chatting, real-time map viewing, and other as-yet unrevealed functionality.<br />
<br />
NCsoft acquired 58.3 percent of Hotdog's shares, and is looking to "<em>enhance our ability in the smart phone environment</em>," according to a publisher representative.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/07/28/ncsoft-buys-smartphone-app-studio/">NCsoft buys smartphone app studio</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 28 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. <a href="http://pocketlegends.com/"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a> turned a few heads when it was first launched as an MMO playable on the iPhone, but it's time for the game to expand beyond its roots. Past time, Droid users might say, as they've been suffering through no MMOs for their preferred phone for some time. But the wait is over -- the game has just entered a beta for the Android platform, making it not only the first mobile 3-D MMO but the first multiplatform mobile MMO.<br />
<br />
You can download the game through the link on the front page of the site and through the Android market. It requires Android 2.1 to run successfully. A support forum has <a href="http://www.spacetimestudios.com/forumdisplay.php?25-Android-Beta">already been put together</a> for players taking part in the beta, which is assured to have its fair share of issues as the porting is perfected. Still, this means that for the first time in the history of these dueling platforms, iPhone and Droid owners can walk hand in hand... well, while playing <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Pocket-Legends/"><em>Pocket Legends</em></a>, anyhow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/11/android-client-for-pocket-legends-enters-beta/">Android client for Pocket Legends enters beta</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 11 Nov 2010 21:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.funcom.com">Funcom's</a> <a href="http://www.ageofconan.com"><em>Age of Conan</em></a> is a title that's changed quite a bit over the two-plus years it's been on the MMORPG market. Whether you're talking about the recent <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/rise-of-the-godslayer.com"><em>Rise of the Godslayer</em></a> expansion, the game-changing <a href="http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=196239">1.05 update</a>, or the hundreds of smaller tweaks, balances, class revamps, and content additions that Hyboria has seen since 2008, there's never been a shortage of things to discuss.<br />
<br />
Through it all, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/age-of-conan"><em>AoC</em></a> die-hards have debated, pleaded, flamed, and in some cases, constructively discussed the merits of the title in one primary place: the <a href="http://forums-us.ageofconan.com/index.php">official forums</a>. Owing to its existence as a niche title with a smallish population, <em>AoC</em> doesn't feature huge third-party fansites like <a href="http://www.eq2flames.com/">EQ2Flames</a>, <a href="http://www.aionsource.com/">AionSource</a>, or any of the legions of communities that have sprung up around <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>.<br />
<br />
No, all the Hyborian meta-gaming action is centralized in one spot, and in this week's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/the-anvil-of-crom">Anvil of Crom</a>, we're going to highlight and discuss some of the more noteworthy threads that you may have missed over the last couple of weeks (including a definitive answer from Craig Morrison as to the size of the game's development team).<br />
<br />
Flip past the cut for more.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/19/the-anvil-of-crom-whats-going-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Anvil of Crom: What's going on</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/19/the-anvil-of-crom-whats-going-on/">The Anvil of Crom: What's going on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 19 Sep 2010 12:00:00 EST. Well, gee, not much has happened since the last time we did a community spotlight in this column. Except maybe for that little <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/VanaFest-2010/">VanaFest</a> thing, and huge drops of new info on <a href="http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a>, and the beginning of the latter's beta testing. So, yeah, slow month all around. This should be a pretty short column, I might just start talking about my favorite beers toward the end.<br />
<br />
All joking aside, a lot has been happening, and it has produced more than a few diverse opinions. The immediate response to the VanaFest announcements for <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a> was covered a couple weeks ago, but there's still the specifics to be hammered out. After all, it's hard to take in server merges, level cap raises, massive content drops and new add-ons all in one go. Not to mention that we do still have another game coming in the not-so-distant future, one that's shaping up to have an interesting positional aspect to gameplay. So let's take a look at some of the noteworthy talk from Final Fantasy's webwide community.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/03/20/the-mog-log-a-little-more-conversation/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Mog Log: A little more conversation</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/03/20/the-mog-log-a-little-more-conversation/">The Mog Log: A little more conversation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 20 Mar 2010 18:00:00 EST.
