<span style="float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-top: 6px;"><a class="twitter-share-button" data-url="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/30/the-11th-commandment-thou-shalt-play-the-bible-online/" data-text="Thou shalt play The Bible Online? What?" data-count="vertical" data-via="massively" href="http://twitter.com/share">Tweet</a><script type="text/javascript" src="http://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js"></script></span> Blasphemy or Bible-tastic? The creators of <em><a href="http://www.thebible-onlinegame.com/">The Bible Online</a></em> hope that potential players will see their game as the latter. Announced last week, this MMORTS seeks to capitalize on both the world's most prolific IP and this up-and-coming online game fad.<br />
<br />
Currently in beta, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/the-bible-online/"><em>The Bible Online</em></a> is starting with the literal beginning -- Genesis -- for the first chapter of this possible epic. Players will follow the path of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as they travel the Middle East with their nomadic tribe. Standard RTS gameplay follows, as you'll collect resources, construct buildings and get into tussles with other tribes. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://fiaa.eu/">FIAA</a> certainly hopes to appeal to Bible believers, as the game is peppered with plenty of verses and quotes from Genesis. While the melding of the Word of God and MMOs may appear strange, the devs say that they have a lot more in common than you might expect: <em>"There are also quests for users to experience Genesis according to the history of the Bible. For example, as it is written in Genesis 14:13-14, there is a quest for Abraham to lead 318 men to rescue his nephew Lot."</em><br />
<br />

When <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Gazillion-Entertainment">Gazillion Entertainment's</a> existence was <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/marvel-signs-10-year-contract-sees-an-mmo-in-its-future/">first revealed to the public</a>, the immensity of the company made many of us wonder whether or not their ultimate goal was <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/18/netdevil-acquired-by-gazillion-entertainment-last-july/">world domination</a>. Which brings us to today and Gazillion's newly <a href="http://www.tgdaily.com/content/view/43526/98">announced joint MMO studio project </a>with Abu Dhabi Media, a partnership aimed at bringing massively multiplayer online games to Arabic countries in the Middle East.<br /><br />Well played Gazillion, well played. We can just see their CEOs now, stroking their skinned cats, arching a single eyebrow. What will their next project be? Our guess is a death ray on the moon, or maybe an asteroid rigged with massive jet engines and aimed at the Earth until their villainous demands are met.<br /><br />Whatever Gazillion Entertainment's future plans are, we're pretty sure they involve some kind of space-located doomsday device.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/06/gazillion-entertainment-and-abu-dhabi-media-form-joint-mmo-studi/">Gazillion Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media form joint MMO studio </a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 06 Aug 2009 12:00:00 EST. Truth be told, we weren't aware that MMOs are operating in this region of the world until an article we came across today. <br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/sanya-weathers">Sanya Weathers</a> recently got in touch with Fadi Mujahid, general manager of a Dubai-based company called <a href="http://www.gamepower7.com/">Game Power 7</a> which has localized the free-to-play MMO <a href="http://rappelz.gpotato.com/"><em>Rappelz</em></a> for the Middle East/North African (MENA) market. In fact, to the best of our knowledge, Game Power 7 is the first company to focus on the MMO industry in the Middle East and North Africa to date.<br /><br />Mujahid explains to Weathers how Game Power 7 made these first inroads to the MENA market, from market research to localization efforts (adding 'Middle Eastern touches' to the characters and other changes to make the game less offensive to the market's cultures), to getting the word out about the Arabic version of <em>Rappelz</em>.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/05/01/the-birth-of-the-middle-eastern-mmo-scene/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The birth of the Middle Eastern MMO scene</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/05/01/the-birth-of-the-middle-eastern-mmo-scene/">The birth of the Middle Eastern MMO scene</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 01 May 2009 20:00:00 EST.
