Fresh off the launch of its single player game, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Kingdoms-of-Amalur-Reckoning/"><em>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning</em></a>, 38 Studios has announced the addition of two new members to their team. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/john-blakely/">John Blakely</a>, who has worked for SOE and Zynga, will become their senior vice president of development, while <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/mark-hansen">Mark Hansen</a> has come from LEGO Systems Inc. to take on the role of senior vice president of business operations. They both took the time to speak with Massively about their experience in the industry as well as their upcoming roles with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/38-studios/">38 Studios</a>. They're going to have to wait a bit longer for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/netdevil">NetDevil</a>'s take on massively multiplayer LEGO play, according to <a href="http://kotaku.com/people/crecente/posts/">Kotaku's Brian Crecente</a>, who reports that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/lego-universe/"><em>LEGO Universe</em></a> <em>may</em> not even see a 2010 release date. <br /><br />Despite the economic troubles many MMO developers are coping with these days, this news about <span style="font-style: italic;">LEGO Universe</span> is not necessarily a bad thing. Kotaku spoke with the director of business development for the LEGO group, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/mark-hansen">Mark Hansen</a>, who said, <span style="font-style: italic;">"Within the company we have made a strategic decision within LEGO to make a delay of LEGO Universe. It will not be coming out in 2009. The reason is, we have a luxury right now, the business is going good. We have products that are not digital, the physical products, with them going so well we don't want to take focus away from them." </span><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/lego-universe-not-clicking-together-in-2009/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LEGO Universe not clicking together in 2009</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/02/17/lego-universe-not-clicking-together-in-2009/">LEGO Universe not clicking together in 2009</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 17 Feb 2009 17:00:00 EST. <h3 align="left">EVE Online</h3>
<div align="left"><strong><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/">Eve Online talks new ships and avatars</a><br /><br /></strong>CCP's Senior Technical Producer Torfi Frans Olafsson had a lot to say about <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online/"><em>EVE Online</em></a>'s upcoming space station environments. At present, <em>EVE</em>'s player characters are little more than still portraits -- in the playable portion of the game you are primarily represented as your ship, which you can use to navigate and explore the game world. Players will one day have the ability to exit their ship and interact with other characters as a human avatar. We still don't have an exact release date, but we scored the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/20/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/">details on the proposed gameplay and development process</a>. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/">GDC08: EVE Online's space stations</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/#652779"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/img_0886_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/#652778"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/img_0891_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/#652800"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/img_0892_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/#652767"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/img_0893_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/gdc08-eve-onlines-space-stations/#652770"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2008/02/img_0895_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /> </div>
