Fresh off their merger and complete with a new-ish name, Namco Bandai has announced a UK publishing deal for urban management MMO Cities XL. More specifically, the publisher is set to distribute the Monte Cristo developed title in the UK, Italy, Nordic countries, Iberica, New Zealand and Australia. Distribution elsewhere will be handled by Monte Cristo themselves.

If you're looking for more information on Cities XL, we've got a detailed hands-on preview written by our very own Shawn Schuster. Plus, we're still offering the opportunity to win a shiny beta key so you can try the game out for yourself. It's a good time to be both an MMO and city builder fan, which is strange to write but feels oh-so-good.
Namco Bandai to distribute Cities XL in United Kingdom originally appeared on Massively on Wed, 08 Jul 2009 11:00:00 EST. That's a headline we never expected to be writing, but thanks to independent development studio Vae Victis digging deep during the design stages of Victory: The Age of Racing, here we are. Free-to-play online games portal GamersFirst (which houses titles like Knight Online and Sword of the New World) put out a press release stating not only that they have partnered with Vae Victis to bring Victory to the world, but also that it will be shown off at the upcoming E3. Here's a bit of the game's background from the press release:

A world inspired by the 1960's Formula One racing scene, sets the stage for Victory, a Fantasy Formula One MMO Racing game. The Racing Authority organizes the racing movement in the world of Victory as it converts old industrial locations and cities into high performance race tracks. Players complete quick competitions to gain experience, collect performance points and customize their cars to increase their effectiveness in a style unique to each driver.

Although we were originally surprised by Victory's premise -- 1960's Formula One has got to be unique in the MMO genre at the very least -- we were less surprised when we discovered that the devs are from Italy, the home of ridiculously fast cars and a proud history of racing. It apparently features an advanced physics engine which racing fans might enjoy more than what's found in current online racers. For those that like racing games with RPG elements, this has the potential to be an addictive title.
1960's Formula One MMO "Victory: The Age of Racing" to debut at E3 originally appeared on Massively on Tue, 26 May 2009 10:00:00 EST.
Well, that's apparently not the case. Having gone through the local news reports, Second Life is not even mentioned. Text messages, Facebook and Instant Messaging are. The couple reportedly quarreled frequently, and apparently Castro committed the murder due to the discovery of an email -- though available testimony is still a little fuzzy.

However, no virtual worlds. No Second Life. Just IM and email. And this isn't the first time Second Life has been stuck with the rap for a crime committed by people who never used it.

Continue reading Italian woman murdered by husband.
Odissea the Musical by Marco and Massimo Grieco is based on the The Oddysey by ancient Greek poet Homer, and features 18 singers, 20 dancers, 8 acrobats, and assorted computer-generated 3D characters. In addition to their run in Italian theaters, there will also be a live performance in the virtual world of Second Life.

The live performance will feature ten of the twenty-five musical scenes from the theatre production performed by the theatrical cast, and run for more than an hour. The performance will be taking place at the Pæstum theater in Italia Vera, which we are told can seat more than 300 avatars.

Odissea the Musical originally appeared on Massively on Thu, 08 May 2008 07:00:00 EST.
