Pets are on their way to <a href="http://gw.igg.com"><em>GodsWar Online</em></a>, and the <a href="http://igg.com">IGG</a> team has a new dev blog designed to give players a preview of the upcoming content. Unlike the pet systems in most MMOs, every creature in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/godswar-online"><em>GodsWar</em></a> will be tamable -- yes, even those terrifying medusa and hydra bosses (that said, due to the size of some of the game's critters, player pet versions will be necessarily scaled down).<br />
<br />
<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/igg">IGG</a> also plans to add new pets to the game to compliment existing monsters, including the cerberus, griffin, tyrannosaurus, and more. <em>GodsWar</em> will also boast new pet talents and skills, and you can read the full dev diary after the cut. While you're at it, don't forget to peruse our <em>GodsWar</em> gallery for the latest screenshots.<br />

It's not one of the largest games out there, so most people might not know what you're talking about if you mention <a href="http://www.planetcalypso.com/home/"><em>Planet Calypso</em></a>. Those who do might well only think of the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/29/crystal-palace-space-station-auction-tops-330-000-us-dollars/">highly publicized auctions and trades</a>, in which players have spent large amounts of real-world money to purchase land and facilities (which bring in plenty of real-world money themselves, for the record). But beyond that there is an actual game world, complete with an ongoing storyline. As spotlighted in <a href="http://www.planetcalypso.com/newsletter/campaign/2010/August_Nw10_9/index.xml">the newest game newsletter</a>, that storyline is being turned up by a new event -- an ominous approach by robots.<br />
<br />
The last major assault by the robots left the previous capital city a smoking ruin, and not coincidentally coincided with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/15/planet-calypso-formerly-entropia-universe-converts-to-cryengin/">the game's graphical update</a> to <a href="http://www.cryengine2.com/">CryEngine 2</a>. This time, the colonists have begun decoding messages sent by the robots, and defenses are gathering to ensure that a repeat of the last event doesn't take place -- even as the robots field a new technology known as "Hydra." Several helpful links for information may be found <a href="http://www.planetcalypso.com/newsletter/campaign/2010/August_Nw10_9/index.xml">within the newsletter</a>, which promises plenty of enjoyment for the players in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/entropia-universe/"><em>Planet Calypso</em></a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/26/the-robots-are-rising-on-planet-calypso/">The robots are rising on Planet Calypso</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 26 Aug 2010 11:00:00 EST. Battling their way through a series of impressive matches, HYDRA RELOADED and Pandemic Legion made it to the final match of this year's <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/"><em>EVE Online</em></a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/alliance-tournament-viii/">Alliance Tournament</a>. Twenty-two thousand people tuned in to watch this weekend's tournament coverage live, complete with expert commentary and guest developers chatting about what goes on behind the scenes at <a href="http://www.ccpgames.com">CCP Games</a>. The question on everyone's mind was whether <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/09/20/pandemic-legion-crowned-eve-alliance-tournament-vii-champs/">reigning champions Pandemic Legion</a> would lose their title or win the tournament for a third year in a row. In a fast-paced fight that will have <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online/"><em>EVE</em></a> players talking for weeks to come, PL wiped the floor with HYDRA to secure their place once again as the absolute best team in the tournament.<br />
<br />
PL took home the <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&amp;bid=764">first place prize</a> of 50 billion ISK, a gold medal for each participant and 50 limited edition "Adrestia" Heavy Assault Cruisers. HYDRA secured the second place prize of 25 billion ISK, a silver medal for each participant and 50 limited edition "Utu" Assault Frigates. With last year's "Freki" assault frigate prizes selling for upwards of 15 billion ISK, it's safe to say both the Adrestia and the Utu will sell for billions each on the black market. Third and fourth places went to Darkside and WE FORM VOLTRON respectively for their impressive efforts in this incredibly difficult tourament.<br />
<br />
Skip past the cut for a rundown of what happened in this final match. Alternatively, you could wait for CCP to <a href="http://at.eve-ic.net/8/index.php?view=match&amp;id=97">upload the match video</a> and see for yourself.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/06/21/pandemic-legion-dominate-eve-alliance-tournament-viii/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pandemic Legion dominate EVE Alliance Tournament VIII</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/06/21/pandemic-legion-dominate-eve-alliance-tournament-viii/">Pandemic Legion dominate EVE Alliance Tournament VIII</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 21 Jun 2010 11:00:00 EST. As <a href="http://www.warhammeronline.com"><em>Warhammer Online</em></a> continues to patch in new things, it seems that players who return to older areas are finding new things to enjoy in-game. With the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/30/free-character-transfers-announced-for-warhammer-online/">announcement of server merges</a>, we're hoping that we'll also find lots of new people in different areas to group with as well. Today's One Shots is about one such recent <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Warhammer-Online/">Warhammer Online</a></em> revisit from <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Snacky/">Snacky</a> (or in this case Gruzugsnarug on the Iron Claw (Oceanic) server, as the character is known) happened upon. Snacky writes: <em>When I first did this starting area, I noticed a cave which I was closed to all who would dare venture off the beaten path. I decided to revisit the area with a new character and was not disappointed. I was greeted with this awesome sight of a Hydra with an escort of dark elf tamers.</em><br /><br />We love to find new things we missed out on the first time around. If you've found anything you missed out on, we'd love to hear about it. Just send your screens and stories in to us here at <strong>oneshots AT massively DOT com</strong> along with your name/server/game. We'll post them out here for everyone to enjoy.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/">One Shots</a></strong></p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2704109"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os864_eq2_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2700179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os863_fe_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2695825"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os862_lotro_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2691569"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os861_co_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/one-shots/#2687909"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.massively.com/media/2010/02/os860_wow_1024_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/31/one-shots-hidden-hydra/">One Shots: Hidden hydra</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 31 Oct 2008 14:00:00 EST. We've been <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/29/the-daily-grind-whats-blizzards-next-big-thing/">speculating</a> about <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/blizzard">Blizzard</a>'s next MMO for quite a long time. We're not just talking about the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/23/blizzard-com-teases-everyone-with-new-splash-page/">splash screen</a> from last week (which panned out to be <a href="http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3"><em>Diablo III</em></a>, a non-massive game). There have been <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/blizzard-job-postings-show-progress-on-new-mmo/">job postings</a> on the company's website advertising various positions in a team working on a "Next-Gen MMO," which is <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/07/first-official-confirmation-of-new-blizzard-mmo/">confirmed as a totally new title</a>, not an expansion for <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com"><em>World of Warcraft</em>.</a> There have also been <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/11/overheard-new-blizzard-project-codenamed-hydra/">murmurs</a> of a project codenamed "Hydra." We've always wondered -- are Hydra and the Next-Gen MMO one and the same?<br /><br />Now we have our answer: no. A reader of our sister site <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com">WoW Insider</a> <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/06/30/screenshot-confirms-that-diablo-is-hydra/">noticed a caption</a> that read "Hydra" on an <a href="http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/_images/artwork/ss38-hires.jpg">image</a> (above) in <a href="http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/artwork.xml">Blizzard's <em>Diablo III</em> gallery.</a> Yep, <em>Diablo III</em> is Hydra. So if your sole interest is <em>Galaxy of Starcraft</em>, move along now. Hydra is not the savior you've been waiting for. And as WoW Insider noted, Blizzard is working on three different projects at once. That's a lot on its plate. Now that <em>Diablo III</em> has been announced, we're not expecting any news about the Next-Gen MMO anytime soon.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/06/30/screenshot-confirms-that-diablo-is-hydra/">WoW Insider</a>]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/blizzards-next-gen-mmo-is-not-the-project-codenamed-hydra/">Blizzard's "Next-Gen MMO" is not the project codenamed "Hydra"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 30 Jun 2008 20:00:00 EST. Waiting in the wings, however, is ... what?<br /><br /><em><a href="http://starcraft2.com/">Starcraft 2</a></em> is in process, so it's extremely unlikely that Blizzard would dilute that audience by announcing a <em>Starcraft</em> MMO. Ditto with a <em>Diablo</em> MMO, and we don't even know what its release date might be. <em><a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com">World of Warcraft</a></em> has <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/wrath-of-the-lich-king/">Wrath of the Lich King</a></em> coming (probably) next year. Can we assume that the next announcement will concern their "next-gen MMO"? Is that project the oft-mentioned "Hydra"? With two active fantasy titles and one science fiction game, what could the next big thing possibly be?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/29/the-daily-grind-whats-blizzards-next-big-thing/">The Daily Grind: What's Blizzard's next big thing?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 29 Jun 2008 08:00:00 EST. Is it <em>World of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/starcraft/">Starcraft</a></em>? Is it a <em><a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/diablo/">Diablo</a></em> MMO? Is it a completely new IP? Is it the mythical <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/09/11/overheard-new-blizzard-project-codenamed-hydra/">Hydra</a> (which could be any one of the above)? We don't know.<br /><br />Even though details are hidden behind the curtain, these job postings give outside observers a sense of the progress Blizzard has made on the mysterious project. This is probably the same project for which they <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/30/blizzard-job-listing-hints-at-next-gen-mmo/">hired a Lead Engine Programmer</a> back in April or May, and it's safe to assume that they're about to move into the next phase of development -- building the game world (or worlds) and its inhabitants.<br /><br />Now if only they'd clue us in on whether or not those inhabitants are <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terran_%28StarCraft%29">Terran</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zerg">Zerg</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protoss">Protoss</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/31/blizzard-job-postings-show-progress-on-new-mmo/">Blizzard job postings show progress on new MMO</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 31 Oct 2007 11:53:00 EST.
