It's a Flyffy day today as the free-to-play game's newest expansion, "The Lost Continent" arrives on the servers and brings a whole new continent to the world.

Centering around a darker atmosphere than the upbeat game usually provides, the new continent of Shaduwar adds in some dark dungeons and dangerous new enemies to the game. But, that's not all. Finally, for the game being centered around flying characters since its inception, they're adding wings to the game. It only took them, what, four years to add wings to the game about flying? Better late than never, if you ask us.

Plus, Flyff users will now have incentive to log on and play in the form of a 35 day marathon "Play for Rewards" contest. All players have to do is simply log onto Flyff each day for one hour, and the game will tally up the days you do this. Every five days, the game will provide you with a rewards pack, and on the 35th day of playing you'll be entered in to win a 50" HDTV. The team is giving 4 of those bad boys away, making this quest certainly worth the hour per day grind.
Flyff adds a new expansion, wings, and a reason to grind your life away originally appeared on Massively on Wed, 11 Nov 2009 20:00:00 EST. Summer has arrived, July is only just around the corner and with it comes the gaming drought. This seems an opportune time to explore an old favorite, write about it and try to make it as interesting as possible. I figured, what MMO is less known about and more curious than Final Fantasy XI?

Plus, I'd never played it on a console, so this had the potential to be a semi-new experience at the very least. Something about that prospect has always intrigued me -- playing it the way it was originally designed. sorta. I mean, I did purchase the Xbox 360 version.

My goal with this idea is to crack open the sometimes mysterious world of Vana'diel to people who wish they could spare the time and patience to experience it themselves, but otherwise cannot or will not. But before that, a little bit of back story is required and I also need to actually get to those juicy story and boss bits.
Continue reading The Digital Continuum: Vacationing in Vana'diel

The Digital Continuum: Vacationing in Vana'diel originally appeared on Massively on Mon, 22 Jun 2009 12:00:00 EST. Tabula Blogger recently got to take a trip to NCsoft Europe headquarters and meet the fine folks who make up the Tabula Rasa Europe team. It sounds like things went exceedingly well, as Tabula Blogger had all good things to say about their experience. You can read all the crazy exploits of the trip on this page and as an added bonus get to see some pretty cool sketch art. It also sounds like the Tabula Rasa Europe team has some very nice digs with a working space that includes a big TV, PS3 and some Rock Band action. What more could any geek ask for?

We always love to see players in the community having these kinds of experiences with the people responsible for the live support and development of an MMO. It really helps keep the entire community invigorated and happy, which is a topic oft discussed here at Massively. So in other words: keep up the good work NCsoft Europe!
Tabula blogger travels to NCsoft Europe originally appeared on Massively on Wed, 11 Jun 2008 10:00:00 EST.
