Eurogamer notes, from an interview they did with Mythic's Mark Jacobs last week, a reality that may frustrate Orc and Dwarf fans: one of the two remaining 'cut' classes <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=263782">will not be returning to <em>Warhammer Online</em></a>. In the interview, Jacobs is up front about the reality that either the Dwarf Hammerer or Orc Chopper will not be returning to the game. As he put it, <em>"well, one of them we hope to put back in. I can't tell you which yet, that's a surprise. We're probably going to be replacing one and putting in another class in its place. But we'll be talking about that in a few months."</em><br /><br />This follows closely on the heels of his announcement last week that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/17/first-state-of-the-game-reveals-blazing-sun-knights-black-guard/">the Knights of the Blazing Sun and Black Guard will make a triumphant return</a> to the game in the month of December. The Knight and Guard are tanking classes, and the news of their return is great news indeed. The Hammerer and Chopper are DPS classes for their specific factions. We couldn't get much in the way of information on them for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/massively-goes-to-war-the-classes-of-warhammer-in-a-nutshell/">our 'every class explained' guide</a>, but this is what Adam and Josh had to say about them: <em>"The general class role is that of the momentum berserker-brawler. They build up fury, bounce from target to target, destroying all in their paths."</em> <hr />

I've given <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/09/the-digital-continuum-dark-elf-days-in-war/">my thoughts on the Dark Elf section</a> of <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.warhammeronline.com">Warhammer Online</a>, but now that the whole NDA is lifted I can finally speak about my experience with the beta as a whole. I've been in it for a long time. A really long time, in fact. We're talking about, well, since the thing started. Which gives me something more to say than the typical tester talking about this game. In my time interacting as a member of the beta community with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Mythic/">Mythic</a> -- concerning <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/warhammer-online/">Warhammer Online</a>, of course -- I think I've seen more progress made on any MMO in the span of about a year than I have in any other in beta. And I've been in a lot of them.<br /><br />So what's the big deal? New MMOs are always facing the issue of going up against <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com">World of Warcraft's</a> several years of polishing. Everyone has always wondered what it would take to deal with that issue, too. Mythic seems to have decided it will take raw, unadulterated determination. The kind that a child displays when presented with the opportunity to have a new toy. It also helps to have a license that Blizzard themselves once attempted to acquire because of its depth. Ironic? Only if <span style="font-style: italic;">WAR</span> really does take a big chug out of the <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft/">World of Warcraft</a> milkshake.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/23/the-digital-continuum-memoirs-of-a-war-beta-tester/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Digital Continuum: Memoirs of a WAR beta tester</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/23/the-digital-continuum-memoirs-of-a-war-beta-tester/">The Digital Continuum: Memoirs of a WAR beta tester</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 23 Aug 2008 11:00:00 EST. It's been a month since we last took a look at how <a href="http://www.warhammeronline.com"><em>Warhammer Online's</em></a> Destruction classes have <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/03/from-tabletop-to-desktop-wars-destruction-careers/">made the transition from the old-school tabletop game to a full-fledged MMO experience</a>, and a lot has happened. We've shown you a huge amount of new coverage with our <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/06/massively-goes-to-war-wrap-up/">Massively Goes to WAR</a> series, and even got <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/04/massively-goes-to-war-the-classes-of-warhammer-in-a-nutshell/">some more hands-on details</a> of each of the game's many classes. We know that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/25/war-european-guild-beta-live-within-a-month/">the guild beta is practically within our reach</a>, and the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/27/running-down-warhammer-online-s-open-beta-with-waaagh/">open beta</a> never leaves our minds, though it still lies just over the horizon.<br /><br />Since our last look at the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/warhammer-online"><em>WAR's</em></a> tabletop roots was so well-received, we went back to the drawing board to bring you part two - focusing this time on the races on the side of Order. If you plan on joining the ranks of the Dwarfs, Empire, or High Elves and lack the proper appreciation for how the game's classes came to be, read on!<br /><br />

The video above was taken at a German show, so it's in Deutsch, obviously, but the graphics are clean and clear, and the gameplay looks pretty manic -- just the kind of thing to get us all excited for this baby.<br /><br />They've also got <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJehsHE3MFQ&amp;feature=PlayList&amp;p=9335C9CDEAEB3B84&amp;index=21">a character selection video</a>, some <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z0fhgsEpLQ&amp;feature=PlayList&amp;p=9335C9CDEAEB3B84&amp;index=23">Bright Wizard gameplay</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QwiBEv5b_o&amp;feature=PlayList&amp;p=9335C9CDEAEB3B84&amp;index=39">Zealot</a> footage, some <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFn2XZlTstg&amp;feature=PlayList&amp;p=9335C9CDEAEB3B84&amp;index=36">Hammerer and Choppa RvR combat</a>, and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC8iFLHTtIY&amp;feature=PlayList&amp;p=9335C9CDEAEB3B84&amp;index=38">a little world exploration</a>. This game is definitely looking better every day -- it's still on track for a release sometime in the middle of this year.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/13/warhammer-videos-collected-looking-great/">Warhammer videos collected, looking great</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 13 Mar 2008 21:30:00 EST.
