If any of you have been following <a href="http://twitter.com/shaddoe">me on Twitter</a>, then you know that I have been extremely active in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/rift/"><em>RIFT</em></a> this week. However, I did not gain the levels I had hoped. I am currently level 17, which is nice, but I had hoped to be level 19 or 20 by now. I will definitely get there this week.<br />
<br />
I cannot say this enough: Visually, <em>RIFT</em> is stunning. Below you'll find the gallery of my adventures; I included 19 new screenshots this week. They complement Seriia's story throughout Freemarch and especially the Scarred Mire. The gallery includes some excellent screenshots of Jakub the Tyrant, Alsbeth the Discordant, and March Warden Eliam. My new mount and the Abyssal visions from the daily half-birthday quests also make an appearance.<br />
<br />
After the break, Seriia dreams of ghosts and tyrants. Eliam Fields seems to be a home for her; she loves the place. Also, I need your help with invasions -- I am not exactly performing the way I would like to in large group activities. Maybe a new soul will help. Let me know what you think after the break.<br />
<br />
Let the Telaran adventure begin!<br />

	<a href="http://aaportal.net/en/world-of-archeage/west-continent/lillet-meadows.html"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/07/67.jpg" vspace="4" /></a></div>
It's been a few weeks since we've heard tell of any <em><a href="http://www.archeage.com/en">ArcheAge</a></em> news, but fortunately our friends from AAportal have come through with a new article on <a href="http://www.xlgames.com/">XL Games</a>' upcoming sandpark title.<br />
<br />
Ordinarily we'd describe this sort of piece as a zone preview, but given that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/archeage"><em>ArcheAge</em></a> is an open world the phrase "location preview" seems more appropriate. The location in question is the <a href="http://aaportal.net/en/world-of-archeage/west-continent/lillet-meadows.html">Lillet Meadows</a>, an area designed for players between levels 10 and 15 and situated near the Elven and Nuian starting areas. The meadows lie in a lush, fertile valley far from the hustle and bustle of the nearest city, and AAportal spends a good bit of virtual ink describing the natural surroundings.<br />
<br />
Despite the tranquil setting, enemies abound in the area, most of them variations on undead that include wraiths, ghosts, and a new type of zombie that apparently features broken weapon fragments instead of limbs. Head to <a href="http://aaportal.net/en/world-of-archeage/west-continent/lillet-meadows.html">AAportal</a> for all the details, and don't forget to click the image links to see all the Lillet Meadows screenshots.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/07/05/archeage-lillet-meadows-location-previewed/">ArcheAge Lillet Meadows location previewed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 05 Jul 2011 11:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.arena.net/blog/dungeon-cinematics"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/gw2-1309473390.jpg" style="border-width: 0px; border-style: solid; margin: 4px;" /></a></div>
Dungeons without context tend to just blend in with the other 55,000 instances we've run in our MMO careers, so <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/27/flameseeker-chronicles-why-you-need-to-play-guild-wars-right-no/">a gripping backstory can make all the difference</a> in how memorable a good dungeon run can be.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/arenanet/">ArenaNet</a> has released <a href="http://www.arena.net/blog/dungeon-cinematics">a new introductory cinematic</a> for <a href="http://www.guildwars2.com/en/"><em>Guild Wars 2's</em></a> Ascalon Catacombs that helps bring players -- those both unfamiliar to the <a href="http://www.guildwars.com/"><em>Guild Wars</em></a> lore and heavily steeped in it -- up to speed. A Charr narrates a slice of history from the first game, leading up to how this dungeon was created and why it's so full of teed-off ghosts.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.arena.net/blog/dungeon-cinematics">In an attached developer blog</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/horia-dociu/">Horia Dociu</a> tells us why these cinematics aren't just window dressing but essential to the experience: <em>"These cinematics play at the key moments of the story mode in each of the eight dungeons in </em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/guild-wars-2/">Guild Wars 2</a><em>, setting the mood and delivering valuable info. Stylistically, we're pushing the concept of a visual storybook as a form of communicating to the player -- we want the cinematics to feel like moving paintings."</em><br />
<br />

It's October, and that means all of the spooky Halloween events are coming out of the woodwork. But how many of them are offering you a pair of steampunk goggles for completing them? Well, only one right now -- <em><a href="http://neosteam.atlusonline.com/">Neo Steam</a></em>.<br /><br />Atlus is throwing open the <a href="http://www.atlusonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10562">doors to the Underworld</a>, and <a href="http://www.atlusonline.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10612">all sorts of creepy-crawlies</a> are invading their fantasy steampunk MMO. Defeating these event monsters will get you souls to trade in to special soul reapers to claim pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pie for recovery purposes, but the big 250 soul turn in will get you a special pumpkin hat (as seen above) to commemorate the event.<br /><br />However, some monsters will drop event tickets, which enters your account in for a chance to win a pair of handcrafted steampunk goggles. So, what are you waiting for, an invitation? Kill stuff, get loots!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/08/neo-steam-lets-in-the-soul-reapers/">Neo Steam lets in the soul reapers</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 08 Oct 2009 13:00:00 EST. Well, what else would you expect from the company that brought you murlocs? April Fool's day is in full effect in Blizzardlandia, and <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/World-of-Warcraft/">World of Warcraft</a></em> isn't the only game to get the treatment, but it's a good place to start!<br /><br /><strong>Molten Core: for consoles</strong><br />Heavily trading on fond gamer memories of Atari's <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adventure_%28Atari_2600%29">Adventure</a></em>, Blizzard brings us the console version of its popular 40-player raid dungeon Molten Core. The game's site features screenshots alongside concept art, and a trailer, even, with an <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/8-bit">8-bit</a>, pixelated version of the company's logo. We won't spoil the show for you, but the best bullet point for the game has to be 'Has sound'. <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/moltencore/">Check it out</a> and wait for your chance to pre-order!<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/blizzard-wins-the-prank-wars/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Blizzard wins the prank wars</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/01/blizzard-wins-the-prank-wars/">Blizzard wins the prank wars</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 01 Apr 2008 20:00:00 EST. Gamespot has <a href="http://au.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/piratesoftheburningsea/news.html?sid=6180535&amp;om_act=convert&amp;om_clk=multimodule&amp;tag=multimodule;picks;title;1">added a preview </a>of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/pirates-of-the-burning-sea/"><em>Pirates of the Burning Sea</em></a> that is solely to do with the supernatural content found in the game, and makes us <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/05/pirates-of-the-burning-sea-announces-release-date/">anticipate the game's release</a> even more. Apparently, a significant portion of content (10-15%) will take place in an area known as the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bermuda_Triangle">Bermuda Triangle</a> -- you may have heard of it. Happenings in the Triangle tend to lean towards the decidedly-spooky, and the quests that Gamespot managed to see involved zombie armies, voodoo priestesses and possessed crew mates. <br /><br />Some of the finer details in the preview show the effort that developer Flying Lab Software is putting in to make their game unique. An interesting part of the article tells of how the remains of a vanquished zombie can be donned and used as a disguise, to hide within enemy ranks. However, since the NPC monsters themselves move at walking pace, if you happen to break step and move a little too fast, the other zombies will realize something is up and turn on you.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/28/pirates-of-the-burning-seas-supernatural-side/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Pirates of the Burning Sea's supernatural side</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/28/pirates-of-the-burning-seas-supernatural-side/">Pirates of the Burning Sea's supernatural side</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 28 Oct 2007 09:00:00 EST.
