Icelandic game development studio <a href="http://www.ccpgames.com">CCP Games</a> began life as a handful of employees in a small Reykjavik building. The ongoing success of its flagship game <a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> has fueled the company's expansion into a global entity with offices in Iceland, the United States, China and the United Kingdom. In addition to working on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online/"><em>EVE Online</em></a>, CCP's offices house people working on the upcoming console MMOFPS <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dust-514/">Dust 514</a></em> and the announced <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-darkness/"><em>World of Darkness</em></a> MMO.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.ccpgames.com/en/public-relations/press-releases/ccp-games-announces-georgia-expansion.aspx"> CCP announced today</a> that its American headquarters are to be relocated to a new area in Atlanta. The new office space will provide some much-needed room for the company to expand, allowing it to create up to 150 new jobs over the next three years. Many of these jobs will be filled by local colleges and universities, which offer comprehensive courses relating heavily to work in the games industry.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/mike-tinney">Mike Tinney</a>, President of CCP North America, was positive about the move.<em> "Decatur offers the perfect blend of big city accessibility with a hometown feel that we were looking for," </em>he said.<em> "Georgia's financial climate combined with Decatur's social climate provide the ideal conditions for continued growth."</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/02/24/ccp-games-expanding-us-presence-hiring-150-additional-staff/">CCP Games expanding US presence, hiring 150 additional staff</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 24 Feb 2011 12:45:00 EST. While the latest <a href="http://www.eveonline.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> expansion, <a href="http://www.eveonline.com/apocrypha/index.html"><em>Apocrypha</em></a>, has hit the main server and the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/10/the-daily-grind-will-you-be-picking-up-the-eve-online-retail-bo/">retail boxes</a> for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> have reappeared on game store shelves, CCP has been <a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/news/CCP-Wins-Key-Awards-for-bw-14614788.html">busy winning awards</a> for all of their work with <em>EVE</em>.<br /><br />CCP's awards include the <a href="http://www.fvh.is/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=552&amp;Itemid=1">Icelandic Innovation and Knowledge Award</a> from the <a href="http://www.fvh.is/">Association of Businessmen and Economists in Iceland</a> as well as the <a href="http://www.tagonline.org/articles.php?id=358">2009 Top 10 Innovative Technology Companies</a> award from the <a href="http://www.tagonline.org/">Technology Association of Georgia</a>.<br /><br />Both of these awards come from industry peers, a high honor for a company. CCP isn't going to be resting on their laurels, however, as they have pledged a heavy presence at this year's GDC in San Francisco.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/03/17/ccp-honored-with-two-awards-for-innovation/">CCP honored with two awards for innovation</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 17 Mar 2009 15:00:00 EST. You might even think of Seattle, or Boston too, but what about Georgia? That's right, the state most commonly-known for <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dukes_of_Hazzard">The Dukes of Hazzard</a></em>, <a href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/presidents/jc39.html">Jimmy Carter</a> and peaches is fast becoming quite a hub for gaming technology and development studios lately.<br /><br />Not only does the state play host to gaming services such as <a href="http://www.gametap.com/">Gametap</a> and lottery giant <a href="http://www.scientificgames.com/">Scientific Games</a>, but they also house online gaming companies such as <a href="http://www.hirezstudios.com/index.html">Hi-Rez Studios</a>, <a href="http://www.fusionfall.com/">Cartoon Network's latest online project</a> and the North American divisions of <a href="http://www.cdcgames.net/cdcgames/index.html">CDC Games</a> and <a href="http://www.eve-online.com/"><em>EVE Online</em></a>'s <a href="http://www.ccpgames.com/">CCP</a>, who recently merged with Georgia's own <a href="http://www.white-wolf.com/">White Wolf Studios</a>. <a href="http://www.ea.com/language">Electronic Arts</a> operates an R&amp;D lab in one of North America's premiere design schools: <a href="http://www.scad.edu/">Savannah College of Art &amp; Design</a> in Savannah, Georgia. In fact, you may be surprised to hear that Georgia's video game industry is currently 60-companies strong, employing approximately 2,000 game professionals.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/move-over-austin-georgia-aims-to-be-the-next-big-thing-for-game/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Move over Austin; Georgia aims to be the next big thing for game studios</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/24/move-over-austin-georgia-aims-to-be-the-next-big-thing-for-game/">Move over Austin; Georgia aims to be the next big thing for game studios</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 24 Oct 2008 09:00:00 EST.
