No, faithful <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/guild-wars-2"><em>Guild Wars 2</em></a> fans, this is not an illusion: The Mesmer is in the game, so stop rubbing your eyes and pinching your arms in disbelief.<br />
<br />
To be honest, if <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/arenanet/">ArenaNet</a> had announced that the eighth and final profession for <em>Guild Wars 2</em> was anything but the Mesmer, there would have been worldwide riots. Fortunately, such is not the case, as the studio confirmed in a brief tweet that the Mesmer would be the last addition to the class roster.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://twitter.com/#!/GuildWars2">According to the tweet</a>, the full reveal of the Mesmer was slated for Wednesday, but the CMs said that "someone jumped the gun" and let the information slip earlier than desired. Apparently <a href="http://www.gamereactor.dk/grtv/?id=13791">GameReactor Denmark</a> jumped the embargo and posted a video about the reveal (the video has since been removed from the site).<br />
<br />
We'll be waiting for the official unveiling with bated breath!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/12/12/mesmerizing-revelation-guild-wars-2s-mesmer-is-the-final-class/">Mesmerizing revelation: Guild Wars 2's Mesmer is the final class</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 12 Dec 2011 16:15:00 EST. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/cryptic">Cryptic</a> is working toward a February 2010 release of <a href="http://www.startrekonline.com"><em>Star Trek Online</em></a> to much fan anticipation, and associate producer Andy Velasquez recently found some time to talk with <a href="http://www.gamereactor.eu/articles/2266/Star+Trek+Online+interview/">Gamereactor</a> for a look at the game.<br />
<br />
The discussion gave an interesting look at where <a href="http://crypticstudios.com/">Cryptic</a> is hoping to go with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-trek-online"><em>Star Trek Online</em></a>. Velasquez talked about the familiar "to boldly go where no man has gone before" Star Trek theme, expressing a desire for a true sense of new exploration in STO. The setup of the Genesis system, as well as the choice of a time frame in which you won't be left playing second fiddle to Picard or Kirk, serves to encourage that feeling. <br />
<br />
Valesquez also addressed the choice to start the<em> Star Trek Online</em> from scratch after taking over the project from Perpetual, fan feedback, and his thoughts on where <em>STO</em> fits into the MMO world. <a href="http://www.gamereactor.eu/articles/2266/Star+Trek+Online+interview/">The full interview can be seen at Gamereactor</a>.<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/03/video-interview-tells-more-of-star-trek-onlines-goals/">Video interview tells more of Star Trek Online's goals</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 03 Dec 2009 17:00:00 EST. This is especially the case with a sandbox MMO like <a href="http://www.eveonline.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> where the developers provide a setting and the players establish their own virtual society of sorts. The topic of emergent gameplay in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> came up in a recent video interview from the <a href="http://www.nordicgame.com/">Nordic Game Conference</a>, where our friend <a href="http://blog.dontfearthemutant.com/">Petter M&aring;rtensson</a> from <a href="http://www.gamereactor.se">Gamereactor</a> spoke with CCP Games Executive Producer Nathan "<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/oveur">Oveur</a>" Richardsson. <br /><br />Their conversation touches upon what the players are doing with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/wormholes">wormhole exploration</a> (with around 2500 uncharted solar systems) and CCP's excitement when player alliances clash and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/02/05/further-developments-in-eves-grand-theft-alliance-drama/">create their own stories of conflict</a>. The interview also covers <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/walking-in-stations"><em>Walking in Stations</em></a> (avatars), the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/07/21/eve-online-social-network-cosmos-coming-with-winter-expansion/">COSMOS social network</a> that will tie in with <em>EVE</em>, and the company's intent to alter 0.0 space with more tools to build empires and more incentives to get people out there into these lawless regions. Stick with us for a video embed of the Gamereactor interview with CCP's Nathan Richardsson.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/video-interview-focuses-on-emergent-gameplay-in-eve-online/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video interview focuses on emergent gameplay in EVE Online</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/13/video-interview-focuses-on-emergent-gameplay-in-eve-online/">Video interview focuses on emergent gameplay in EVE Online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 13 Aug 2009 20:00:00 EST. P&eacute;tursson</a>, CEO of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ccp-games ">CCP Games</a>, has given a rather softspoken video interview with <a href="http://www.gamereactor.no/">Gamereactor</a> on where the sci-fi title <a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> is today, and what's on the horizon. The interview seems intended for those who haven't played the game before -- as Hilmar gives an intro to the game and its <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/28/eve-evolved-eve-onlines-server-model/">single world setting</a> -- or perhaps gamers who haven't gotten their feet wet in a massively multiplayer online game yet, as he highlights some of the benefits of incorporating more social aspects into video games. <br /><br />Hilmar gives some history of the company, discussing how <a href="http://www.ccpgames.com">CCP Games</a> has grown into having nearly 400 employees at present, with 300 of them focused on the next expansion and its retail launch (<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/08/ccp-games-and-atari-partner-on-retail-box-sales/ ">in partnership with Atari</a>). The next expansion -- <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/08/ccp-reveals-tech-3-coming-in-eves-march-expansion/ ">which will include Tech III and wormhole exploration</a> -- will go live on March 10th, and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE Online</em></a> will appear on retail shelves on March 12th.
