<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/soe">Sony Online Entertainment</a> is wasting no time in its efforts to capitalize on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dc-universe-online"><em>DC Universe Online's</em></a> newfound popularity. The recent free-to-play conversion has given the superhero actioner a second wind, and SOE is looking to keep the title in the spotlight via the release of Game Update 6.<br />
<br />
The content pack is available as a free download for players of all access levels, and the highlight of the pack is the third and final chapter in the Fortress of Solitude raid series. GU6 is titled The Deadly Double Cross, in large part due to the betrayal of General Zod and the precarious position inside the Fortress of Solitude Sunstone Matrix that players will find themselves in as a result.<br />
<br />
Raid encounters aren't the only thing new in the update, though, and GU6 adds plenty of new gear (including Kryptonian military weapons forged from the Sunstone crystals). Head to the official website for more game details, and don't forget the patch note discussion on the official forums.<br />

<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/soe">Sony Online Entertainment</a> has released a new producer's update to keep disgruntled fans in the loop regarding the overwhelming demand for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dc-universe-online"><em>DC Universe Online</em></a>. The superhero title, which opened the free-to-play floodgates a week ago, has been beset with overcrowding, huge load times, and "load screens of death" that leave would-be players stranded in no-man's land as they try to log into the game.<br />

Producer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/lorin-jameson">Lorin Jameson</a> says that SOE is working hard to alleviate the problems, and the company released a PC client patch last night while a PlayStation 3 patch is awaiting Sony approval.<br />

One thousand. That's how many bug fixes are in <a href="http://vanguard.station.sony.com"><em>Vanguard</em></a>'s <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/09/vanguard-game-update-6-coming-soon/">sixth game update</a>, which has now <a href="http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/newsArchive.vm?id=708&amp;section=News">gone live.</a> In addition to the fixes, there's a new newbie area for levels one through ten called the Isle of Dawn. <a href="http://tobolds.blogspot.com/2008/09/vanguard-free-trial.html">Word is</a> that it will eventually serve as a free trial setting. For now, though, it's just an easy place to get a new character started.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.soe.com">SOE</a> also redid character models, offering new customization options and making some changes that lower the models' system performance hit. You can keep your old look if you want, though.<br /><br />The most controversial changes are a whole slew of class damage adjustments. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/soe">SOE</a> looked at every single class in the game and adjusted its damage output to ensure "that each lands in their correct place in the spectrum of classes."
