One of those strange rituals all <a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> players go through at one time or another is the fire sale. Over the course of normal play, we buy, loot or otherwise acquire assets all over New Eden. After a time, our asset windows become a mess of long lost items and treasures hidden away in the cargoholds of ships we forgot we had. We all eventually reach breaking point and need to sell off our distributed stockpiles of odds and ends.<br />
<br />
Maybe it will happen when you run out of ships to PvP in, or perhaps when your subscription is about to lapse and you need <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/plex">to buy a 30-day PLEX</a>. With the recent five-day reactivation offer on many expired accounts, I imagine a lot of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online/"><em>EVE</em></a> players are currently scrambling through their assets in an attempt to raise enough ISK for a PLEX. Whatever the reason behind it, that dreaded day when you need to have a fire sale on your assets will inevitably arrive. A monumental logistical task now lies ahead of you, but it doesn't have to be the headache you'd expect it to be. Having been through countless cycles of accumulating bits and bobs and then selling them to buy PLEX, I've <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/11/29/eve-evolved-trading-tips-and-tricks/">picked up a few tips to make the process</a> as painless as possible.<br />
<br />
In this week's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-evolved/">EVE Evolved</a>, I look at the tools and strategies you can employ to squeeze every last drop of ISK from your misplaced treasure troves, and how to complete the task with a minimum of effort.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/14/eve-evolved-having-a-fire-sale/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Evolved: Having a fire sale</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/14/eve-evolved-having-a-fire-sale/">EVE Evolved: Having a fire sale</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 14 Nov 2010 18:00:00 EST. At Massively, we frequently hear about unions of all types in MMOs -- titles which <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/24/fiesta-to-have-and-to-hold-til-death-do-you-part/">allow players to marry one another</a>, couples who decide to tie the knot in-game, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/15/world-of-kung-fu-grants-married-characters-double-experience-for/ ">married couple experience bonuses</a>, and now and again an inventive marriage proposal. But <em>this</em> is something new... <br /><br /><a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> player Suva Orefinger is ready to settle down with her (real life) boyfriend, and he says he'll marry her... assuming she's willing to prove her commitment to him. In typical <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE</em></a> fashion, her boyfriend's bargaining posture has led to a rather unique proposition. He's posed a challenge to Suva: fill a Charon-class freighter with corpses and he'll make his vows. This is no easy feat. A character must die for each corpse to be created in <em>EVE</em>, and the Charon is a massive ship, which can hold nearly 100,000 of these victims of New Eden's violence. <em>"Something easily gotten is not highly valued,"</em> her boyfriend says. But if Suva can do it, he'll be all hers, 'til death do they part.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/eve-onlines-very-own-corpse-bride/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Online's very own Corpse Bride</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/14/eve-onlines-very-own-corpse-bride/">EVE Online's very own Corpse Bride</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 14 Nov 2008 17:00:00 EST. <div align="center"><em>Behold, the Orca! </em><br /></div>
<br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ccp-games">CCP Games</a> developer CCP Chronotis unveiled the much-rumored Orca ship in <a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> today, something industry-types have been looking forward to for a very long time. Chronotis said, <em>"The development of the Orca has been unusual to say the least. With the introduction of the Rorqual last year <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/oveur">Oveur</a> immediately pointed out the remaining glaring gap in the industrial ship line and commanded us to fill it."</em> The end result is a 'sub-capital logistical ship with a mining command focus'. <br /><br />Read on below for a brief FAQ drawn from CCP Chronotis' dev blog as well as his commentary on the forums, which clarifies more about <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><span style="font-style: italic;">EVE's</span></a> newest ship, the Orca.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/eve-onlines-rumored-orca-ship-unveiled/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Online's rumored 'Orca' ship unveiled</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/23/eve-onlines-rumored-orca-ship-unveiled/">EVE Online's rumored 'Orca' ship unveiled</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 23 Oct 2008 16:30:00 EST. This flexibility allows a character to change their play style over time, or to capitalize on niches no one else has filled. This is the case with Dylon Xavier, an enterprising Caldari pilot with <a href="http://www.assti.net/forum/index.php">Ascendant Strategies, Inc.</a><br /><br /><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/20/new-edens-virtual-reporters/">ISD Magnus Balteus</a> reports that Xavier <em>"has decided to try something different; create a product that is both time and resource consuming to build, and offer it for auction to the alliance that has the funds and space to deploy it." </em>The niche item in this case is an <a href="http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Outpost">Outpost Platform.</a> When launched, it will create a space station for an alliance that can handle the minimum <a href="http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&amp;threadID=844263%00">20 billion isk bid</a> on his auctions. This substantial pricetag <a href="http://www.eveonlineships.com/eve-online-search-ships.php">includes a freighter</a> for transporting the Outpost Platform and materials, and turns what is normally a time-consuming collective effort into a (comparatively) rapid-deployment. He's also willing to have Chribba, perhaps <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/30/eve-online-community-spotlight-a-qanda-with-chribba/"><em>EVE's</em> most trusted player,</a> broker the transactions, mitigating the risk involved with such large amounts of currency. With the neverending ebb and flow of territorial control in New Eden, and if alliances continue to express interest in Xavier's venture, he may well have created a new and lucrative profession in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE Online </em></a><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/14/eve-online-player-establishes-new-profession/">EVE Online player establishes new profession</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 14 Aug 2008 09:00:00 EST.
