It's Christmas Eve, and most everyone is on some sort of holiday break. The interesting thing about holiday "break" is that it's often not so much a break as it is a different kind of hustle and bustle than the usual one. <br />
<br />
Still, it's supposed to involve at least a little bit of downtime, and we MMO fans look forward to indulging with some extra time in our favorite games. While it's hard to find time to spend hours raiding, the design of <a href="http://www.ddo.com"><em>Dungeons and Dragons Online</em></a> allows players to take a half-hour here and there to relax and play. The downside of this is that there's a lot of content, and it's easy to wind up staring at the game thinking "I have no idea what I want to do." A few suggestions can usually get the ball rolllng, so follow along after the jump for some ideas on how to make the most of your <a href="http://www.massively.joystiq.com/category/dungeons-and-dragons-online"><em>DDO</em></a> downtime!<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/24/exploring-eberron-playtime-over-the-holidays/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Exploring Eberron: Playtime over the holidays</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/24/exploring-eberron-playtime-over-the-holidays/">Exploring Eberron: Playtime over the holidays</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 24 Dec 2010 18:00:00 EST. There's nothing better to cement the mood of the holidays than a cup of hot liquidy beverage, a roaring fireplace (or, lacking a fireplace, a carefully controlled indoor fireworks display), and an internet-capable computer that allows you access to your favorite MMOs. Of course, this is the time of year when most MMOs pull out their annual winter-themed holiday events, which are packaged in such a way to offend no one while calling on the spirit of the season.<br />
<br />
So granted that you're fond of these holidays, we want to know which MMO winter event is your fave? It's not as if you lack choices at this point: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/frostfell/">Frostfell</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/yule-festival/">Yule Festival</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/wookiee-life-day/">Wookiee Life Day</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/winter-veil/">Winter Veil</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/wintersday/">Wintersday</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/first-night/">First Night</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/frostburgh/">Frostburgh</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/solorius/">Solorius</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/attack-of-the-misfit-toys/">Attack of the Misfit Toys</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/festivult/">Festivult</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/snowflake-festival/">Snowflake Festival</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/starlight-celebration/">Starlight Celebration</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/midwinter-festival/">Midwinter Festival</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/festival-of-the-white-hart/">Festival of the White Hart</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/snowdays">Snowdays</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/junkadoo/">Junkadoo</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/festival-of-gloriann/">Festival of Gloriann</a>... the list just goes on and on.<br />
<br />
For a bonus question, what are your winter event goals this year? Do you have your eye on a special prize, decoration or outfit?<br />
<br />

There's been a lot of chat and interest regarding the approach of <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/ddo-update-8">Update 8</a> in <a href="http://www.ddo.com"><em>Dungeons and Dragons Online</em></a>. What is the new adventure pack going to be like? How will all the tweaks affect gameplay? Will the Half-Elf updates improve the new race? Here at Massively, we're looking forward to it as well -- in fact, we've got an exclusive tour of the new adventure pack coming up later today. It's exciting, but there's another event to look forward to as well. <br />
<br />
It's that time of year again: Festivult is approaching in <a href="http://www.massively.com/category/dungeons-and-dragons-online"><em>DDO</em></a>. While the big event hasn't arrived yet, <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/turbine">Turbine</a> has been keeping plenty busy with preparations.<br />
<br />
While you wait for the Jester of the Festivult to arrive later this month, check out some of the other December events in <em>DDO</em>. There are sales and a great contest, and the community members are working together to plan ahead for the events. Follow along after the break to see what is happening in December in <em>DDO</em>!<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/03/exploring-eberron-we-need-a-little-festivult-right-this-very-m/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Exploring Eberron: We need a little Festivult, right this very minute</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/03/exploring-eberron-we-need-a-little-festivult-right-this-very-m/">Exploring Eberron: We need a little Festivult, right this very minute</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 03 Dec 2010 13:30:00 EST. Festivult is coming to Stormreach! The Risia Ice Games are on their way back! Yes, it's July, and no, it's not another bug. <a href="http://www.ddo.com"><em>Dungeons and Dragons Online</em></a> is preparing to celebrate <a href="http://www.ddo.com/ddogameinfo/46-game-info/1075-festivult-in-july?trk=rotator_pos1">Festivult in July</a>, and players will find special goodies everywhere they look. <br />
<br />
Stormreach Harbor hasn't frozen over quite yet, but you'll find signs of Festivult here and there anyway: festival tokens are dropping -- <a href="http://ddowiki.com/page/Unique_event_items#Festivult_.28Coin_Rewards.29">don't forget to save them for the Festivult Jester</a> -- and there are <a href="http://www.ddo.com/ddogameinfo/46-game-info/1042-festivult">daily specials in the store</a>. Soon you'll find hot cocoa, ice skates, and more in the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dungeons-and-dragons-online"><em>DDO</em></a> Store, and Winter Bonus Days will be bringing you a 20% XP boost for 10 days. <br />
<br />
The celebration will last throughout July, so keep an eye out for a frozen harbor and <a href="http://www.ddo.com/">watch the <em>DDO</em> site for updates</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/05/winter-events-arrive-in-dungeons-and-dragons-online/">Winter events arrive in Dungeons and Dragons Online</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 05 Jul 2010 16:00:00 EST. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Turbine/">Turbine</a> is rolling out its second large update for <a href="http://www.ddo.com/"><em>Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited</em></a>, which includes a substantial new Adventure Pack entitled Dreaming Dark. If you're interested in finding out more about the new questing content, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/05/dungeons-and-dragons-online-developer-tour-the-dreaming-dark/">we have some hands-on experience with Dreaming Dark</a> and the plot surrounding the Plane of Dreams and its many dangers.<br />
<br />
There's plenty more in this new update, however, including many new DDO Store items and improvements. Turbine is even adding special holiday items like snowballs. In addition to that, players can celebrate Festivult, where every treasure chest has the potential to drop festival coins. Free dungeons and adventure packs are all potential Festival coin carries, so nobody gets left out. Coins are turned in to the Festivult Jester, who'll exchange them for gifts crafted specially for the season from House Ghallanda and House Cannith.<br />
<br />
Sounds like good times in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/dungeons-and-dragons-online/"><em>DDO Unlimited</em></a>. Who doesn't enjoy finding extra loot in their treasure chest? Well, assuming it isn't junk loot, of course!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/18/ddo-unlimited-rolls-out-second-major-update/">DDO Unlimited rolls out second major update</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 18 Dec 2009 11:00:00 EST. You can start to get into the holiday mood <a href="http://www.ddo.com/article/1004">with a Festivult poem</a>, but you'll also find that there's a long list of goodies to be had in-game. Getting your hands on some unique Festivult items isn't too hard -- every treasure chest has a chance to drop Festival Coins, as well as whatever else is inside, during the holiday season. Once you get some coins (there are three different types) you can hand them in for rewards. These rewards range from a lump of coal, all the way up to something so good that it's being kept a secret.<br /><br />To trade in your coins, you'll want to see the Jester of Festivult. He can be found in a number of locations, but you can't just walk up to him this year -- players will need to conquer the Jester's Jumping Puzzles in order to cash in coins and receive their presents, although certain areas have easier ways to reach the Jester for those that find the puzzles too difficult. After the break, we've got the full list of rewards and Jester locations. Happy Festivult!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/the-third-annual-festival-of-the-twelfth-moon-kicks-off-in-ddo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The third annual Festival of the Twelfth Moon kicks off in DDO</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/11/the-third-annual-festival-of-the-twelfth-moon-kicks-off-in-ddo/">The third annual Festival of the Twelfth Moon kicks off in DDO</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 11 Dec 2008 17:00:00 EST. Turbine has posted on their forums about <a href="http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=129357">the comings and goings of Festivult</a>, a time when the Jester of Festivult (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus">not to be confused with</a>) runs around Stormreach and trades Festival coins for presents from the dragonmarked houses of Cannith and Ghallanda. Man I love <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_&amp;_Dragons">this D&amp;D 3rd edition lore</a>!<br /><br />In game terms, there'll be a dwarf NPC wandering around Stormreach that will trade buff food for special coins that have a chance of dropping from treasure chests all over the world. But if that's too technical for you, you can bask in the light of not one but <a href="http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=129006">two Festivult poems</a> over on the Turbine forums.
