<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/funcom">Funcom's</a> future is looking pretty bright according to a report at <a href="http://www.newsinenglish.no/2012/01/02/funcom-topped-oslo-stocks/">Views and News from Norway</a>. The site says the development firm behind <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/anarchy-online"><em>Anarchy Online</em></a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/age-of-conan"><em>Age of Conan</em></a>, and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/the-secret-world"><em>The Secret World</em></a> topped the Oslo stock exchange last year and saw its share price rise by 227%.<br />
<br />
<em>AoC</em> has "sold well and still generates income for Funcom," says the report, but the real cause for optimism is the positive buzz surrounding <em>The Secret World</em>. Funcom head honcho <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/trond-arne-aas">Trond Arne Aas</a> says that the firm has received "very good feedback" from both testers and journalists, and it's a good thing since the company absorbed a third quarter loss despite its share price increase.<br />
<br />
"We're investing heavily in <em>The Secret World</em> now, therefore the loss," Aas explained. "But we're hoping for major income after the launch in April."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/02/funcom-tops-oslo-stock-exchange-invests-heavily-in-the-secret-w/">Funcom tops Oslo stock exchange, invests heavily in The Secret World</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 02 Jan 2012 12:00:00 EST. I'm one of those people that likes to think that NCsoft has enough money to get by on. It's just my gut reaction that if you have a few successful games then you probably have some spending money in your wallet. So, I like to think that NCsoft, even though they certainly took a pretty huge hit when they invested in <span style="font-style: italic;">Tabula Rasa</span>, could have easily kept the development process going. Perhaps it would have been much slower than it currently was, but there was no reason it couldn't keep going on some type level.<br /><br />They have, at least, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/11/21/tabula-rasas-subscriber-rewards-explained/">provided some compensation for players who are currently subscribed</a> to the game; the chance to try out games like <span style="font-style: italic;">City of Heroes</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">Lineage 2</span> are offered in the stead of <span style="font-style: italic;">TR</span> gameplay time.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/01/anti-aliased-youve-been-auto-assaulted-part-deux/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Anti-Aliased: You've been Auto-Assaulted, part deux</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/01/anti-aliased-youve-been-auto-assaulted-part-deux/">Anti-Aliased: You've been Auto-Assaulted, part deux</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 01 Dec 2008 16:00:00 EST. Ouch. That word pretty much sums up <a href="http://www.mmocrunch.com/2008/08/28/age-of-conan-a-post-mortem-analysis/">this article</a> we found over at <a href="http://www.mmocrunch.com">MMOCrunch</a> regarding their opinion on the current state of <a href="http://www.ageofconan.com"><em>Age of Conan</em></a>. As declared in the article, it wasn't written to convince potential players that the game is bad (although... uh, it does?), or to tell current players that their game sucks, but it was addressed to <a href="http://www.funcom.com">Funcom</a> and any other MMO developers out there currently working on a game to let them know why they're sometimes referred to as "Failcom" by the community.<br /><br />This article is harsh, straight to the point and pulls no punches. That's exactly what we love. But whether you agree or disagree with the author's prognosis, these MMO postmortem articles are always written to charge people up. Give it a read and let us know what you think. <hr />
