The many, many <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/08/17/enter-at-your-own-rift-happy-half-birthday-rift/">half-birthday bonuses</a> that came with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/rift/"><em>RIFT's</em></a> kooky in-game party were set to end tomorrow, September 1st, but are now being extended until September 6th so that players affected by last weekend's hurricane can enjoy it as well. Subscribers are still expected to receive their in-game gifts tomorrow that include bonus potions and a reusable birthday cake.<br />

<em><a href="http://www.massively.com/category/rift">RIFT</a></em> fans who found they spent too much time gawking over today's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/01/27/trion-releases-new-rift-cg-cinematic/">awesome new <em>RIFT</em> cinematic</a> to actually log in can rejoice: <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/trion">Trion</a> has announced that the fifth phase of beta, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/01/12/next-rift-beta-event-begins-january-25th/">originally planned for January 25th to the 28th</a>, will now be extended another day. Players can look forward to playing all night Friday until the servers boot them at 10:00 a.m. PST Saturday morning.<br />

What's the reason for the extension? <em>"We are having so much fun with you in Telara,"</em> says <a href="http://www.facebook.com/RIFTgame?v=wall"><em>RIFT's</em> official Facebook page</a>.<br />

Player opinions have been strongly mixed on <a href="http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a>, something that hardly needs to be reiterated. Even the game's supporters have occasionally been a touch leery about paying for their first month of the game with the current state of polish. Which means that it should be good news for players all around that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Square-Enix/">Square-Enix</a> is <a href="http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/news/detail?newsId=60bd5ecff1b7645d4e1ead107941f0d8c4e88994">extending the normal "free month" to encompass an additional month</a>, placing early adopters out of the realm of billing until November.<br />

Aimed primarily at purchasers of the collector's edition with its headstart, the extension will be credited to any and all accounts created before October 19th. Billing will be credited for another 30 days, giving a total of 60 days free time within the game world. The <a href="http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/news/detail?newsId=60bd5ecff1b7645d4e1ead107941f0d8c4e88994">official announcement</a> assured the community that the development team is listening to all the feedback received, and wishes to thank <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/final-fantasy-xiv"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a>'s players for their devotion to the game. Considering that the game has just seen its <a href="http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/news/detail?newsId=dbb5a630f338f84b0b3583928bd4c19715154f30">first pass of reorganization for the market system</a> and <a href="http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=f2cf790e548828eb22d3c4dff5f04bf0793632b5">a director dispatch on the game's future</a>, it's a morning of good news for the game's players. <br />

We also mentioned an upcoming patch that aimed to fix it all. Well, it looks like <a href="http://powerwiki.na.aiononline.com/aion/1.5.0.5%20Patch%20Notes%20-%2009/12/09">that patch</a> arrived last night. The patch isn't just performance related though -- it also addresses issues with classes, combat, quests, instanced dungeons, and much more.<br /><br />As a reward to all beta testers for being so helpful and patient, <a href="http://massively.com/tag/NCsoft">NCsoft</a> has decided to extend <a href="http://massively.com/category/aion"><em>Aion</em></a>'s open beta... by six hours. This means open beta will now end Monday 9/14/2009 at 8 a.m. BST (5 a.m. EST). What's that we're hearing? The collective murmurs of "Yeah... um, woot?" If you've found yourself excited by the tin, silver, gold and platinum token drops from <a href="http://www.lotro.com"><em>Lord of the Rings Online</em></a> this last weekend, you'll be happy to hear that <a href="http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=166782">these token drops have been extended until November 4th</a>. We first <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/31/pmog-the-passively-multiplayer-game-hits-beta/">reported on <em>PMOG</em></a> here on Massively back at the end of January. It's the product of a videogame startup called <a href="http://www.gamelayers.com/">GameLayers, Inc.</a>, and claims to be <a href="http://www.gamelayers.com/pmog.html">a "passively multiplayer game."</a> But unlike most online games, there are no clients or servers -- the game itself is played with just <a href="http://pmog.com/help/install/">an extension</a> for the <a href="http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/">Firefox browser</a>, and instead of wandering a vast virtual world with dragons or aliens, you wander around the weirdest virtual landscape out there... the Internet itself.<br /><br />It's an interesting idea, but does it work? I've been <a href="http://pmog.com/users/toucansamurai">playing <em>PMOG</em> for about a month</a> (the game is <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/11/pmog-beta-opens-up/">now in open beta</a>), and I've amassed quite a stash of virtual cash and almost reached level four.
