In line with many amazing competitions from NCsoft Europe and their Draw the World Together children's charity, the most recent contest involves the UK's Daily Mirror. To celebrate the latest expansion to City of Heroes: Issue 12: Midnight Hour, NCsoft is offering one lucky Mirror reader a chance to win their very own Intel Core 2 Duo PC complete with 20" monitor encased in a uniquely-crafted case hand-painted by Andrew Wildman, one of the Draw the World Together artists.

Wildman is best known for his amazing work on the ThunderCats and The Real Ghostbusters comics during the 80's. One of his crowning achievements during this era was his work on the final issues of the Transformers comics for Marvel. To own a PC case hand-painted by him would be an honor for any comic book or gaming fan. Entering the contest is easy, and even if you don't win the grand prize, four runners-up will each receive a copy of the game.

NCsoft Europe continue charity work at UK Comics Expo

As they've done previously, the NCsoft Europe team spent the past weekend at the Bristol, UK Comics Expo, where they once more teamed up with the Draw the World Together artists to help raise £1,666 (over $3k American) for charity. The event was as successful as past events have been, and there's a Flickr group filled with sketches for your perusal.

Moving forward, NC Euro has also just announced that they'll do it up again at the upcoming UK Games Expo on May 31st and June 1st. Not only will the DtWT artists be in attendance, but they'll also be selling copies of the Draw the World Together Sketchbook, which contains artwork of the CoX heroes and villains, and features a unique cover by Dave Gibbons, the artist of Watchmen! For just £5, it's a steal! Not ... not literally, of course ... unless you're trying to get beat up by Ms. Liberty, which, come to think of it, wouldn't be a bad way to go ...

Win a sketch of your TR character

The good folks at Tabula Blogger and TabulaCast (I can say that they're good now, as I'm no longer the host!) have managed to create an amazing contest this week, with a fantastic prize sponsored by NCsoft. The rules are easy: simply write a Tabula Rasa-themed haiku and send it along to the podcast's hosts John and Matt for judging. The winner will have the character of their choice drawn by a professional artist through the Draw the World Together charity.

This charity has worked with NCsoft several times in the past, including an event at the Omega Sektor earlier this year. All the money raised at these events goes to help fund the work of the children's charity EveryChild and their work with street children around the world.

This column comes to us from our new blogger, Adrian Bott, reporting in from the field. Adrian is joining our team as a City of Heroes and City of Villains fanboy aficionado extraordinaire, so keep an eye out for even more in-depth CoX coverage here at Massively!

"I cannot believe how polished this event is," confided visiting City of Heroes developer Melissa 'War Witch' Bianco, during a lull in the frenzy. Nor could we. NCsoft Europe knows how to throw a party.

As we crossed from the gloomy streets of central Birmingham into the blazing techno-sanctuary of Omega Sektor, the professionalism and sheer hard graft of the NCsoft team gleamed from every splash-panel surface. Amid the sounds of hordes of happy Super Group members meeting up in the flesh for the first time, video screens showing looped footage of NCsoft games, and the wibbles and whoops of more than four hundred individual PCs, we struggled through to the admin desk.

The organizers and their blue-shirted 'sidekicks', buoyed up by who knows what inhuman energy source (they had already been doing this for two days and showed no signs of flagging) gave us the rundown. There were PvP events, task force challenges, 'death races' and sundry other in-game activities. And huge, padded, Gladiator style superhero suits for real-life PvP. Seriously.

UK residents, NCsoft loves you! And to prove it, they're holding a 4-day social gaming event appropriately entitled the 'Ultimate Heroic Weekend'! Starting at 8 PM on Friday, March 21st, and continuing until 8 PM on Monday, March 24th in the capacious Omega Sektor in Birmingham, the UHW will challenge and satisfy gamers of all types with a veritable cornucopia of superhero-related joy.

Similar to their recent convention, yet much more -- dare we say -- massive, the fun all starts on Friday with a meet and greet with Melissa 'War Witch' Bianco, who will remain for the entire weekend and provide details on the upcoming City of Heroes expansion, Issue 12! There will also be prizes for Best Heroic Costume and PC and console gaming until midnight.

And the event truly kicks off with a bang on Saturday ...

NCsoft's Memorabilia Winter presence

For those who are unfamiliar with the Memorabilia event, it's a pop culture convention held in the UK thrice yearly. For the Winter 2007 convention, NCsoft attended with game characters from Guild Wars and City of Heroes/City of Villains on display. Fans were encouraged to make donations to the Draw the World Together project, which offered up notable comics artists who drew sketches of attendee requests all weekend long.
If you weren't able to be there last year, there's video to be seen on blip.tv! Personally, I'd have made the trip just to meet Ghost Widow. She's dreeeaaammmyyyyyyy!
