	We've told you previously about <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/amazon-to-offer-special-limited-time-deals-on-tera-rift-others/">Amazon's special limited-time MAYhem</a> sales, but the news just keeps getting better. Today <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/tera/"><em>TERA</em></a> is <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_363140742_2?ie=UTF8&amp;docId=1000800391&amp;pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&amp;pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&amp;pf_rd_r=1728E0TR2XRV1C9JW5JJ&amp;pf_rd_t=201&amp;pf_rd_p=1369332722&amp;pf_rd_i=B007RZT7NC">on sale at 50% off</a> (and it will be again on May 26th), bringing it down to a delectable $24.99 for the standard edition and $29.99 for the collector's. What's more, folks who purchase between now and May 28th will get treated to an "Olive Bandit Mask," an exclusive new facial customization feature.
	<blockquote class="bq-standard">
		The olive bandit mask is a subtle bit of headwear for essential outlaw occasions. This mask disguises your identity while enhancing your reputation as a figure of mystery. Don't get caught without your exclusive olive bandit mask while out adventuring in the world of <i>TERA</i>. Better yet, don't get caught at all.</blockquote>
	If you're kicking yourself for missing out on a free goodie because you purchased the game already, fear not! Any Amazon customers who've previously bought the Digital Download of <em>TERA </em>will have the item code automagically placed into their Games and Software Library. Amazon's aiming to reward its loyal users by making sure that all such unique content is offered to all customers. That means that anyone who purchases now will also be eligible to receive any future unique promotional items.<br />
	<br />
	If you've been waiting for a price-drop to take a running jump into the world of <em>TERA</em>, it just may be that now's your time, <em>especially </em>since there's nothing cuter than a Popori in a bandit mask.<br />

<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/tera"><em>TERA</em></a> news is coming fast and furious lately, and luckily for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/en-masse">En Masse</a>, today's blurb is a good one. The game is officially available for <a href="http://tera.enmasse.com/news/posts/pre-order-tera-on-the-en-masse-store">pre-order</a>, and as you would expect, there are all kinds of options relating to various gifts and gadgets depending on where (and what version) you purchase. There's also a bit of beta bribery in the form of automatic access to all five of the closed testing phases that begin this month and continue through April.<br />
<br />
What about the editions?<br />
<br />
Well, you can choose between standard, digital collector's, and physical collector's version, and the latter two come with an in-game mount and a couple of unique necklace items. The physical collector's edition justifies its $79.99 price point with a cloth map, a soundtrack CD, a handbook, a compass, and a letter of marque. En Masse is also offering a couple of exclusives for purchasing directly through its online store.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/02/01/tera-pre-orders-available-closed-beta-access-included/">TERA pre-orders available, closed beta access included</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 01 Feb 2012 14:30:00 EST. If you haven't purchased <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/rift"><em>RIFT</em></a> yet, or you're looking for an additional copy, it might interest you to know that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/trion">Trion's</a> fantasy MMORPG is now available on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/electronic-arts">Electronic Arts</a>' <a href="http://store.origin.com/">Origin</a> digital delivery platform.<br />
<br />
The game comes bundled with an assortment of limited-edition items including a screechling vanity pet and the Ascended gift pack. The latter contains stat-boosting items that increase dexterity, strength, intelligence, and wisdom, as well as small health and mana boosters. Trion is also throwing in a 10-slot bag in case you need somewhere to put all those newly acquired potions.<br />
<br />
<em>RIFT</em> launched to critical acclaim in March of 2011, and Trion is currently working on the title's seventh major content patch.<br />

For most single-player video games, eight to 20 hours of gameplay is currently considered "sufficient." For <a href="http://swtor.com/"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a>, those numbers are merely a prologue to the main event.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2011-06-28-eas-frank-gibeau-interview">In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz</a>, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/ea/">Electronic Arts'</a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Frank-Gibeau/">Frank Gibeau</a> said that players should expect around 200 hours of core gameplay per class, not including side activities like PvP and raiding. He was responding to a question about the game's allegedly high budget, which Gibeau says is worth the investment: <em>"It's vast. It's a gigantic game. And that costs money. But when you get one of these launched they persist for a long period of time."</em><br />
<br />
Gibeau also commented on the decision <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/02/ea-to-be-the-sole-source-for-swtor-downloads/">to exclusively release the digital version</a> of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-the-old-republic/"><em>SWTOR</em></a> through EA's <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Origin/">Origin</a> service: <em>"In the case of </em>Star Wars <em>we're trying to build an audience for Origin. And it's also an opportunity for us to better manage the downloads and how we bring people over from the beta and that sort of thing. For a lot of reasons it made sense for an MMO, which is a highly complex deployment."</em><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/29/ea-200-hours-of-gameplay-per-class-in-swtor/">EA quotes '200 hours of gameplay per class' in SWTOR</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 29 Jun 2011 10:00:00 EST. <a href="http://trionworlds.com/">Trion's</a> got a couple of <a href="https://www.riftgame.com/en/products/trial-upgrade.php">weekend deals</a> in store for all you last-minute Father's Day shopping slackers, provided of course that the gaming dad in your family plays <a href="http://riftgame.com/"><em>RIFT</em></a>.<br />
<br />
First up is a $9.99 special that gives you the full game client. Gameplay time will cost you extra, though, so assuming you go with the standard monthly fee, you're looking at around 25 bucks for full access to Telara.<br />
<br />
Next up is the trial upgrade collector's edition special, which will set you back $16.99. You get the full client per above as well as a tartagon mount, a collector's satchel, and a bogling wastrel pet. Both deals are digital only, so if your dad, husband, or baby's daddy wants a box, you'll need to check out the brick and mortar or online retailers listed on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/trion">Trion's</a> website.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/17/get-rift-for-9-99-this-weekend/">Get RIFT for $9.99 this weekend</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 17 Jun 2011 17:30:00 EST. <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/genre/Free%20to%20Play/?snr=1_4_4__100"><img border="1" hspace="4" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/massively.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/steam-logo-digital-distribution.jpg" vspace="4" /></a></div>
Digital downloads and free-to-play MMORPGs are a match made in heaven, and so it's only natural that the largest purveyor of the former is teaming up with several of the latter to embed both movements further into the collective gaming psyche. Steam is <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/genre/Free%20to%20Play/?snr=1_4_4__100">now offering F2P</a> MMOs as part of its on-demand gaming service, and titles as diverse as <a href="http://globalagendagame.com"><em>Global Agenda</em></a>, <a href="https://register.perfectworld.com/fwad4"><em>Forsaken World</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.spiralknights.com/"><em>Spiral Knights</em></a> are joining the party.<br />
<br />
So what, right? These games have always been free to download from their respective websites, haven't they? Well, yes, but Steam is offering exclusive in-game items (beginning tomorrow with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/spiral-knights"><em>Spiral Knights</em></a>), and of course there's the ever-present achievement collection to consider. Boot up your Steam client and click the giant free-to-play banner, or head to the service's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/youre-free-to-play-these-free-to-play-games-through-steam/">official website</a> for more details.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/06/14/steam-now-offering-f2p-mmos/">Steam now offering F2P MMOs</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 14 Jun 2011 17:00:00 EST. Thanks to our friends at <a href="http://darthhater.com/2011/06/03/wsj-reports-swtor-exclusive-to-new-ea-download-service/">Darth Hater</a>, Massively has learned that the highly anticipated MMO <a href="http://swtor.com"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a> will be sold as a direct download only through <a href="http://ea.com">Electronic Arts</a> itself. In an interview with CEO <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/john-riccitiello">John Riccitiello</a>, the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304563104576361801792673260.html#articleTabs=article">Wall Street Journal</a> uncovered news of EA's new service, one it's calling <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/origin">Origin</a>. This service will provide customers with a download service for all EA games, including the <a href="http://www.ea.com/battlefield3"><em>Battlefield</em></a> games, the <a href="http://www.needforspeed.com/"><em>Need For Speed</em></a> games, and the aforementioned <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-wars-the-old-republic/"><em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em></a>.<br />
<br />
Origin is to act as a social network hub as well as a place to track all your EA game purchases, explained Riccitiello to the Wall Street Journal. This functionality will be available to all users even if they did not purchase the game directly from Origin. However, Riccitiello clarified that <em>Star Wars: The Old Republic</em> will still be purchasable in box form via retailers; only the digital download itself will be exclusive to Origin. Presumably, other all-digital services such as <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/">Direct2Drive</a> and <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/">Steam</a> will not carry the game.<br />

Zomg it's a sci-fi sandbox! You'll have to forgive our somewhat subjective enthusiasm on this one, as it's an increasingly rare occasion when we're able to announce the launch of something other than a themepark with classical fantasy elements. Yes, <a href="http://play-earthrise.com"><em>Earthrise</em></a> is here to (hopefully) save the day for the sandbox die-hards in the audience, and <a href="http://mastheadstudios.com">Masthead Studio's</a> skill-based title is available for purchase in both a <a href="http://iceberg-shop.com/earthrise.html">retail edition</a> (which features a poster and map) and a digital download from <a href="http://direct2drive.com">Direct2Drive</a> (which comes with exclusive Overdrive armor).<br />
<br />
"<em>Our team has channeled years of dedication and hard work into </em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/earthrise">Earthrise</a><em>, and we are thrilled for those fans who have been following us this entire time, as well as those who are just now checking us out, to experience the world of Enterra. We are already working on updates and expansion packs to be integrated within the next few months, and are excited to continue to develop and enhance the world</em>," says <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/masthead-studios">Masthead</a> producer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/atanas-atanasov">Atanas Atanasov</a>.<br />
<br />
As of press time, the server has not come up, and a couple of us have been unable to enter our activation keys into the account page on the <em>Earthrise</em> website. Fear not though, as we've got plenty for you to do while you're waiting impatiently to check out the world of Enterra. Join us after the break for a launch-day roundup of all the recent <em>Earthrise</em> news, interviews, and videos to get yourself up to speed and ready for action.<span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;"> </span>

The folks behind the <a href="http://play-earthrise.com"><em>Earthrise</em></a> sci-fi sandbox made headlines a couple weeks ago with announcements that the game would launch on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/28/masthead-confirms-earthrise-digital-release-date-system-require/">February 4th</a> and that players would be grouped together on a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/22/earthrise-going-with-single-server-worldwide/">single worldwide shard</a>. As it turns out, the server is located on the east coast of the United States, which is a somewhat surprising move given the European pedigree of the game's parent company and the title's Europe-centric <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/20/earthrise-announces-european-publishing-deal-february-release-d/">retail plans</a>.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://mastheadstudios.com">Masthead Studios</a> community manager Kuliani has compiled a short list of frequently asked questions about the impending release and published it on the game's <a href="http://forums.play-earthrise.com/index.php?topic=7198.msg103688;boardseen#new">official forums</a>. In addition to the server location announcement, he confirms that the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/earthrise"><em>Earthrise</em></a> digital download will be available via the game's official website (as opposed to third parties like Steam or D2D) and that new forums will be introduced on launch day.<br />

Looking to pick up some MMORPGs on the cheap? You could go for one of the hundreds of free-to-play titles crowding the market, or if you're looking for something a bit more traditional, <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/buy-mmo-pc-games-download">Direct2Drive's</a> latest sale might interest you. From now through January 10th (at 10:00 a.m. PST to be exact), you'll enjoy 20% discounts on what D2D deems "top tier MMOs." Titles include (but aren't limited to) the <a href="http://guildwars.com"><em>Guild Wars</em></a> trilogy, <a href="http://worldofwarcraft.com"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>, <a href="http://cityofheroes.com"><em>City of Heroes: Going Rogue</em></a>, and <a href="http://www.champions-online.com/"><em>Champions Online</em></a>.<br />
<br />
The discount also applies to MMO pre-orders, so if you're looking for that extra nudge needed to push you towards an early purchase of <a href="http://riftgame.com"><em>RIFT</em></a> or <a href="http://dcuniverseonline.com"><em>DC Universe Online</em></a>, look no further.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/01/06/all-mmos-20-off-at-direct2drive/">All MMOs 20% off at Direct2Drive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 06 Jan 2011 21:00:00 EST. It's never been a better time to be a fan of the final frontier, particularly with <a href="http://www.startrekonline.com/"><em>Star Trek Online's</em></a> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/captains-log-pros-and-cons-of-season-3/">recent Season 3 update</a>. But if you've been biding your time on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/star-trek-online"><em>STO</em></a>, just waiting for that perfect deal, today might be your lucky day.<br />
<br />
Amazon is selling the digital download version of <em>STO </em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Online-Game-Download/dp/B0044DEPYG/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames-download&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1293401428&amp;sr=1-5">for a mere $2.50</a> -- and that includes a full month of gameplay. Seeing as how a month's subscription runs around $15, it's quite a steal. But we'd advise you to go <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Online-Deluxe-Download/dp/B0044DEPZA/ref=sr_1_13?s=videogames-download&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1293401941&amp;sr=1-13">for the deluxe edition of </a><em><a href="http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Online-Deluxe-Download/dp/B0044DEPZA/ref=sr_1_13?s=videogames-download&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1293401941&amp;sr=1-13">STO</a> </em>on Amazon instead. For $5, you not only get the game and 30 days of play, but also a classic series uniform set, the Joined Trill race and a handful of other goodies that would cost you well over $10 to buy separately on the C-Store.<br />
<br />
Speaking of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/cryptic/">Cryptic's</a> in-game store, <a href="http://www.startrekonline.com/store">the company has announced</a> that all C-Store items (excluding the two newest additions) are 20% off from now through January 3rd, 2011. Since a wise starship captain is frugal with his ship's budget, this seems like the perfect time to snatch a few bargains without worrying about breaking the bank.<br />

<div>With the proliferation of digital-download gaming going on these days, it's getting progressively harder for those of us that care about box copies, collectors editions, cheesy cloth maps, and cheaply produced pewter figurines to get our fix. It's obvious why developers and publishers love digital delivery, as it saves them a lot of distribution money, but does it really <span>benefit the consumer</span> aside from scratching our instant gratification itch?<br />
</div>
<div> </div>
<div>As I look over at the MMO box museum cluttering the shelves of my game room, I take no small amount of comfort in the fact that I got something tangible for my fifty bucks, even though in most cases the games themselves were incapable of sustaining my interest past the free month. In fact, I've only purchased a digital download twice: <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com/"><i><span>Fallen Earth</span></i></a> (and I later obtained a box just because) and <a href="http://www.darkfallonline.com/"><i>Darkfall</i></a> (still hunting for a box).<br />
</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Subscription-based MMOs are inherently more about renting than owning but -- for now at least -- you can still get a physical copy of your favorite virtual world and, if you're lucky, an outdated manual and a map. Today we ask you, dear readers, do you want a box, or are you OK with leaving your games on a remote server?</div>

With the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/23/the-road-to-mordor-happy-3rd-anniversary-lotro/">3rd anniversary</a> of <a href="http://www.lotro.com"><em>Lord of the Rings Online</em></a> rolling along and a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/23/turbine-responds-to-fan-questions-about-warner-brothers-purchase/">new connection</a> between <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/Turbine/">Turbine</a> and Warner Bros ensuring no shortage of operating funds, it seems like it might be a little strange to find <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Lord-of-the-Rings-Online/">Lord of the Rings Online</a></em>'s newest expansion <em>Siege of Mirkwood</em> being <a href="http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/105daddd-d660-4005-9c0f-6bc1ec093c05/the-lord-of-the-rings-online-siege-of-mirkwood-complete-edition">offered on deals.woot today</a>. That said, it's there nonetheless, and for those who may have been holding off on picking it up until the price dropped, there's no time like the present!<br />
<br />
The deal offers everyone a chance to pick up the <em>Siege of Mirkwood Complete Edition</em>, which includes the core game, <em>Mines of Moria</em>, and <em>Mirkwood</em> as well as 30 days of free game time for the incredibly low price of $9.99. Now, with that said, this is for the US version run by Turbine, and is strictly digital download only. However, for $10 you really can't beat it -- especially if you've never played before or haven't touched the game since launch, but have been thinking about picking it up recently. <br />

<span style="float: right; margin-left: 10px; margin-top: 7px;"> <script> var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/gaming_news/EverQuest_II_rectifies_problem_with_international_shipping'; </script> <script src="http://digg.com/api/diggthis.js"></script></span> With only a month to go before the release of the newest <a href="http://www.everquest2.com"><em>EverQuest II</em></a> expansion, <a href="http://everquest2.com/gameinfo/titles/sf"><em>Sentinel's Fate</em></a>, many members of the international community <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?&amp;topic_id=462534">were up in arms</a> in the forums over the <a href="http://everquest2.com/get_the_game/buy_now">expansion's pre-order bonuses.</a> Why? Because only the boxed editions of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/sentinels-fate"><em>Sentinel's Fate</em></a> were eligible for the exclusive one week headstart to the expansion.<br />
<br />
In order to <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=30&amp;topic_id=462534#5158749">give retail distributors incentive</a> to carry the boxed version of the game, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/soe">Sony Online Entertainment</a> made the decision to only provide the head-start access to those who picked up the physical box from retail distributors, while the digital download version of the game would not offer the seven day access and would be available for purchase only when the expansion was officially "live" on February 23rd. Problems began to arise when international community members noticed that they could either not import the game from the US, or importing would take too much time and cost them almost double of what the expansion was worth.<br />
<br />
After contacting SOE for a statement on this situation after the many tips we've received from the <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/everquest-ii">EQII</a></em> community, the company has revealed to us that there is now a plan in place for international community members to participate in the retail headstart via a digital download system. Follow after the break to view SOE's plan to get <em>Sentinel's Fate</em> into the hands of their international members.<br type="_moz" /><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/01/15/exclusive-international-community-members-will-get-the-sentinel/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Exclusive: International community members will get the Sentinel's Fate headstart after all</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/01/15/exclusive-international-community-members-will-get-the-sentinel/">Exclusive: International community members will get the Sentinel's Fate headstart after all</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 15 Jan 2010 14:30:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.crimecraft.com/">CrimeCraft</a>'s</em> <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/05/21/crimecraft-launch-date-set-for-august-25/">launch date</a> is just around the corner now, and if you haven't pre-ordered yet but plan on doing so, there really isn't a lot of time left! While the retail distribution of the game in North America and Canada is <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/05/29/crimecraft-to-be-sold-exclusively-for-north-america-at-best-buy/">exclusive to particular stores</a> (Best Buy for NA and Future Shop in Canada), there are a few choices when it comes to making a digital purchase. Future players will be able to buy and download the title from <a href="http://www.crimecraft.com/">CrimeCraft.com</a>, Direct2Drive (IGN), Steam and Best Buy Digital. All of the digital downloads come with a few in-game perks (different from each other), and all of them bar Steam offer some extras for pre-ordering. No matter which way you go, the suggested price of US$49.95 includes two months of premium subscription, including a ration of gold bars that are used for in-game microtransactions. <br /><br />All of the information you need to know in order to make your choice is just past the break -- be sure to check it out if you plan on getting <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/crimecraft"><em>CrimeCraft</em></a> digitally.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/crimecrafts-digital-download-options-and-bonuses/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CrimeCraft's digital download options and bonuses</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/12/crimecrafts-digital-download-options-and-bonuses/">CrimeCraft's digital download options and bonuses</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 12 Aug 2009 13:00:00 EST. The catch, however, is that the pre-orders are limited to 10,000 people.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/07/star-vault-reveals-mortal-online-beta-and-pre-order-details-lau/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Star Vault reveals Mortal Online beta and pre-order details, launch info</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/07/star-vault-reveals-mortal-online-beta-and-pre-order-details-lau/">Star Vault reveals Mortal Online beta and pre-order details, launch info</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 07 Jun 2009 20:00:00 EST. If you're one of those gamers who prefers the digital minimalist approach as opposed to having game boxes everywhere then you're in luck. MMO-giant NCSoft have announced they will be offering their titles -- including <a href="http://massively.com/tags/city-of-heroes"><em>City of Heroes</em></a>, <a href="http://massively.com/tags/guild-wars"><em>Guild Wars</em></a>, and <a href="http://massively.com/tags/lineage"><em>Lineage</em></a> -- via <a href="http://steamgames.com">Steam</a>. They're also planning to offer their latest, most anticipated and shiny MMO, <a href="http://massively.com/tags/aion"><em>Aion</em></a> as well when the game launches later this autumn.<br /><br />The company seem really excited and the press release sent to Massively Towers includes not one but <em>two</em> quotes. <a href="http://us.ncsoft.com/en/">NCSoft</a> are especially keen to note that there will be plenty of special offers on their products via the site and it's a great opportunity for anyone who prefers digital downloading.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/04/22/ncsoft-adds-its-titles-to-steam/">NCSoft adds its titles to Steam</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 22 Apr 2009 15:30:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/index.shtml">Final Fantasy XI</a></em> is one of the most enduring MMOs of its generation. Coming up on the game's seventh year of live service, the folks at <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/square-enix">Square/Enix</a> are making it ever-more accessible to the average player. Recent patches have added in content like NPC allies, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/24/final-fantasy-xi-update-to-eliminate-18-hour-boss-takedowns/">eased boss difficulties</a>, and even worked to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/08/27/final-fantasy-xi-announces-mentoring-esque-level-sync-system/">overcome the game's notoriously challenging level grind</a>. Now the developer is working to make it even easier to get into the game, with some expansions in the client's availability.<br /><br />The game is now <a href="http://www.direct2drive.com/Search.aspx?SearchTerm=final%20fantasy%20xi">available for digital download via the Direct2Drive service</a>! The whole game (<em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/final-fantasy-xi">FFXI</a>, Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, and Wings of the Goddess</em>) is available for just twenty bucks. You can buy the game's expansions individually as well. If you're not interested in shelling out cash without giving it a go first, they've got you covered there too. There's <a href="http://www.fileplanet.com/192215/190000/fileinfo/FINAL-FANTASY-XI-14-Day-Free-Trial">now a 14-day trial available via FilePlanet</a>. Head over and check out the perils and promise of Vana'diel ... them Tarus are cute!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/07/ffxi-now-available-as-digital-download-and-free-trial/">FFXI now available as digital download and free trial</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 07 Oct 2008 12:00:00 EST. That means you do a lot of swapping CDs out while installing the game. Okay, so that's obviously not a deal breaker, but it's still annoying. We have good news: both the Collector's and regular editions of the <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath"><em>Wrath of the Lich King</em></a> expansion will ship on DVD. Hurray! <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/15/wrath-of-the-lich-king-collectors-edition-details-announced/">We already knew this about the Collector's Edition</a>, but that the regular edition will too is good news.<br /><br />Here's the bad news: <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/09/24/wotlk-will-only-be-available-on-dvd/">they'll <em>only</em> ship on DVD.</a> So if you're got a really, really old computer (and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/world-of-warcraft"><em>WoW</em></a> will run on really, really old computers so you might), you'll be scat outta luck. That is, until a digital download version comes out. Inevitably it will, of course, but it probably won't be on day one. No <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/category/death-knight">Death Knight</a> for you!<br /><br />Thankfully, this is not 1997, so we imagine that only a very tiny minority of <em>WoW</em> players will be bothered. And if you are affected, <a href="http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&amp;N=2010100055%204093%201036507747&amp;name=DVD-ROM%20Drive">go buy a DVD drive for 20 bucks</a>, you cheapskate! We thought we'd give you the heads up just in case.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/09/27/wrath-of-the-lich-king-will-ship-on-dvd-only/">Wrath of the Lich King will ship on DVD only</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 27 Sep 2008 09:00:00 EST. Folks who have been on the fence about buying the game because of the filthy retail box can now rest easy - the entire game can be obtained via <a href="https://register.ageofconan.com/signup/ctrl/register/conan">digital distribution from the official Conan site</a>. The game costs about $50 via download, and clocks in at 15 gigs. The downloader supports pausing and restarting of your transaction, so lost connections aren't the end of the world. And - one would assume - you can redownload it as many times as you'd like. The developers have even been considerate to the size of the stream. Purchasing the product will immediately activate <em><a href="http://www.ageofconan.com/">Age of Conan</a></em> but due to the size issue, two additional days are given to your account for a total of 32 days included.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/11/age-of-conan-now-available-for-digital-download/">Age of Conan now available for digital download</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 11 Jul 2008 20:30:00 EST.
