Winners announced in Champions Online Design a Villain contest

Who could resist the opportunity to see one's very own custom super-villain face off against the heroes in Champions Online? One glance at the contest's forum thread shows that many couldn't; a wide variety of nefarious villains were proposed in page after page of contest entries. After much deliberation, Cryptic has finally announced the winners of its Design A Villain contest. However, with so many entries, Cryptic upped the number of winners from five to seven and promised that another round of winners will be announced at a later date.

The grand prize winner who will see both of his creations featured in an upcoming 10-man Alert is Fryguy8544. Runner ups are Ubusunagami, Akwartz, Rianba, chezpizza, Azathoth-Sothoth, and CCat76; their villains will also be featured in the game.

Mog Bonanza winners announced for Final Fantasy XI

If you're playing Final Fantasy XI these days, you can't have missed the most recent Mog Bonanza giveaway, and it's quite likely that you bought a few marbles hoping to get at least the last digit right. But considering how quiet the game has been in terms of updates, you can be forgiven for not realizing that today is the day when the winning numbers are announced. That means that players can see if they won some of the valuable prizes, which include Empyrean weapons, piles of gil, and various furnishings.

The winning numbers are 35041, as shown in the system message displayed when logging into the game. Players have until Monday, February 21st to claim any and all prizes, so it's best to log in quickly and pick up your winnings. Remember, the more digits you get right, the better the prize, so as long as your number ended in 041 you get to pick up a Rank 3 prize. If you didn't win, however, don't despair -- the event does tend to turn up in Final Fantasy XI more than once a year, it seems.

Darkfall PvP tips contest results published

We've been giving Darkfall a lot of coverage lately, and deservedly so. The sandbox title from Aventurine is branching out beyond its boy's-club beginnings and becoming one of the more complete titles on the current market. The game isn't abandoning its PvP roots, however, and the world of Agon is experiencing an influx of new blood (or fresh meat, if you prefer) that could stand to be schooled in the ways of player vs. player.

To that end, Aventurine recently held a contest in which veteran gamers were asked to come up with their best PvP tips. A panel comprised of experienced PvPers and newer players mulled over the entries and selected five winners, each of whom will receive a unique forum title and rare in-game items for their trouble. Check out the winning tips for yourself on the Darkfall Epic Blog, and have a look at all of the entries (over 100 of them) via the contest announcement post.

Final Fantasy XI shows off winners for its anniversary art contest

Although the North American anniversary doesn't take place until later this year, Final Fantasy XI has been running for eight years as of this past May. When that milestone rolled around, Square-Enix announced their 8th Anniversary art contest as a chance for players to show off their talents and potentially get rewarded for them. The official winners have just been announced, complete with the requisite gallery of all the winning entries for fans to peruse, with the results both creative and indicative of the game's long history.

The recurring visual elements seem to be food, tarutaru, mithra, and mandragoras -- which certainly goes a long way toward showing what's stuck out in everyone's minds over the duration. There are even a pair of entries (such as the one above) that use food itself as the medium for the celebration. Final Fantasy XI players are encouraged to take a full look at all the artwork on display in the winners' gallery -- enough to bring a nostalgic tear to any player's eye.

Mog Bonanza winners announced in Final Fantasy XI

Picking numbers for a contest always defaults to something familiar - your zip code, your birthdate, the number of times police have been called to your house because you were shouting so much the neighbors thought you were assaulting someone. At least that way you can blame cosmic randomness instead of just guessing wrong. The many residents of Final Fantasy XI can start blaming fate, as the winning numbers for the Moggy New Year Bonanza have been announced, right on schedule.

In ascending order, the winning number for the Rank 5 prize is 8, Rank 4 is 9-6, Rank 3 is 7-3-3, Rank 2 is 1-1-6-4, and the supreme Rank 1 winning numbers are 5-8-8-4-6. The official site has assembled a small chart showing both the winning numbers and the number of winners of each prize category. Over five hundred thousand players won the Rank 5 prize, narrowing to only 43 people winning the top award.

Of course, there's a limited timeframe to pick up your prize -- anything not claimed by February 15th will be lost forever, so it's best to move in quickly to pick up your reward. Congratulations to those who won, and for those who didn't, well, a Shadow Lord statue isn't that cool.

Runes of Magic announces screenshot contest winners

Runes of Magic went all out this Halloween with lots of special items, games, decorations, and even some contests. The screenshot decoration contest asked players to decorate their houses, their guild halls, and even themselves in their best Runes of Magic Halloween style to compete for in-game prizes. Players had a great time with the contest, deploying armies of ghosts, witches, pumpkins and candles in their houses and guild halls. They decorated themselves just as thoroughly, with a combination of whimsical and scary Halloween costume pieces.

Runes of Magic announced the winners today, with first, second, and third place winners in the house and costume categories, and a single winner in the guild hall category. Each winner will receive their choice of a costume package for their character, with a number of choices for both male and female characters.

Congratulations from us to all of the winners, and enjoy your costumes!

Massively holiday postcards winners!

Perhaps you remember our holiday postcard contest -- where we asked you send us holiday-themed postcard images from your favorite games. It may not be the holiday season anymore, but here at Massively we like to think there's room for ~~delicious eggnog~~ holiday cheer every day of the week! After extensive deliberation, our team of judges ~~found enough time away from their favorite MMOs to look through the entries~~ managed to come to a decision on the winners. Thanks to everyone who participated, and congrats to our winners: Durinthal, Cyn Vandeverre, Emerson, and Kevin, who are all walking away with some cool computer accessories, including Plantronics headsets, Logitech G15 gaming keyboards, and Logitech G9 laser mice.

And for those of you more interested in our 12 days of holiday giveaways, we've got winners for them as well! Congrats go out to Andy, Andrew, Dermit, jgodden, Speedmonkay, Curious George, trevrd, Auriea, DC Flyer, Dragnipurake, Shinagani, and celeron450 who each picked up a first place prize of a game time card of their choice. Massively's Massive Giveaways: Second Life winners!

For our launch contests, one particular giveaway featured an excellent series of Second Life books. After much mail tag (and some timeouts) we'd like to announce the winners of the different Second Life prizes! The prizes up for grabs were copies of Creating Your World:The Official Guide to Advanced Content Creation for Second Life, Scripting Recipes for Second Life, and Second Life: A Guide to Your Virtual World. Our winners were Gemski, Mercy, Silverwind Tzedec, and the extra-lucky Tealc Dagger who walked away with one copy of each of the books. Massively's massive giveaways: Ideazon Z-Board winners!

More and more winners are replying to those ever-crucial emails, and the results are rolling in! That's right, we have the names of the winners from the two Age of Conan giveaways we did for our launch! For those of you who missed out, these two lucky winners have each landed their very own Ideazon Z-Board gaming keyboards! (Well, we couldn't very well give out copies of the game yet.)

So to end the suspense, we'd like to send out massive congrats to Twoworms and Excelsior for being the two lucky winners of the Ideazon Z-Boards! Warhammer Online: G15 giveaway winners!

You may recall our recent giveaways here on Massively. They were indeed, befitting of the name of this blog -- massive! We're glad to announce that many of the contests are finally settling down, and we're able to start the next round of telling you just who won the fabulous prizes. (You know, for the people who don't believe we were giving away that much good stuff.)

For our day featuring Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, we offered up two Logitech G15 keyboards. After much mailing, fiery-hoop jumping, and so forth, we're happy to announce that our two winners are drunkmime and Fauzty! Just in time for any new games you get as holiday presents, too!

It's been an amazing first couple of weeks here at Massively, and we've been thrilled to be able to give away so many treats.
