<a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a> is one of the few MMOs with its own dedicated paper-based magazine. With its high production values, the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/e-on/">quarterly E-ON Magazine by MMM Publishing</a> is a great example of how to do a game magazine right. Each issue contains featured articles, guides, fiction, interviews, sneak peeks at future expansions and more. Even the advertisements in it are for exclusively in-game corporations and services, making it pure <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online/"><em>EVE</em></a> from cover to cover. Here at Massively, we've <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/04/10/e-on-magazine-issue-19-hits-the-shelves/">reviewed the</a> past <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/24/e-on-magazine-issue-20-hits-the-shelves/">three issues</a> of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/11/12/e-on-magazine-issue-21-round-up/">the magazine</a> and found them all to be well worth reading.<br />
<br />
If you'd like to give E-ON Magazine a go or fill in some holes in your collection, now's the perfect time to do it. All this month, issues of E-ON are <a href="http://store.eveonline.com/EON-Magazine-C7.aspx">better than half price at the <em>EVE Online</em> store</a>. Each issue is reduced from $14.95 US down to only $7 if you apply the code EONDEC1050 to your purchase, making the magazine a great Christmas gift for any big <em>EVE Online</em> fan. If you're a big fan of the magazine, you'll also be pleased to know that last month's contest <a href="http://eondogma.wordpress.com/2010/12/08/one-last-chance/">has been extended until <em>EVE</em>'s daily downtime tomorrow</a>. To be in with a chance to win, just mail <a href="javascript:void(location.href='mailto:'+String.fromCharCode(119,105,110,64,109,109,109,112,117,98,108,105,115,104,105,110,103,46,99,111,109)+'?')">win@mmmpublishing.com</a> with your name, your <em>EVE</em> character name and an explanation of why you think you deserve free swag. The best entry will win a pile of <em>EVE</em> goodies, with winners to be announced in E-ON issue 22. Enter quickly, as the contest ends tomorrow at 11AM GMT.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/12/08/get-issues-of-e-on-magazine-for-half-price-this-christmas/">Get issues of E-ON Magazine for half price this Christmas</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 08 Dec 2010 19:00:00 EST. We all seem to have that one game that hangs on the edge of our radar -- taunting us with alluring gameplay mechanics while still being just expensive enough for us to pass up the offer. You want to play it, you really do, but you just don't want to pay that much for it.<br /><br />Yet, <a href="http://www.ddo.com"><em>Dungeons and Dragons Online</em></a> has shown that it's certainly not impossible for developers to embrace <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/09/ddo-adds-free-to-play-with-eberron-unlimited/">a new business model</a>. So that now begs the question, "What game would you jump all over if it went free to play?" If you could choose any game in the whole MMO genre, what game would it be?<br /><br />Furthermore, why that particular game? What about it makes you want it to be free, so you can get your paws all over it? Speak to us, oh readers, via that little comment box below, and shout your opinions to the internet beyond!<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/06/18/the-daily-grind-what-mmo-would-you-like-to-see-go-free-to-play/">The Daily Grind: What MMO would you like to see go free to play?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 18 Jun 2009 08:00:00 EST. <div align="left">We're not usually ones who talk about sales or point out discounts, but this is one of those offers that we just couldn't refuse. It's the weekend, so <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/">Steam</a> has to put some of their games on sale, as per the usual. This weekend however, it's most of their massively multiplayer collection.<br /><br />This isn't just a select few games. No sir. We're talking about <a href="http://www.everquest.com"><em>EverQuest</em></a>, <em><a href="http://www.everquest2.com">Everquest II</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.burningsea.com">Pirates of the Burning Sea</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.lineage.com">Lineage</a></em>, <a href="http://www.lineage2.com"><em>Lineage II</em></a>, <a href="http://www.cityofheroes.com"><em>City of Heroes</em></a>, the <a href="http://www.guildwars.com"><em>Guild Wars</em></a> trilogy pack, <em><a href="http://www.ageofconan.com">Age of Conan</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.eveonline.com">EVE Online</a></em>, and <a href="http://vanguard.station.sony.com/"><em>Vanguard</em></a> have all been discounted. Most of the games have been marked down by 20%, but <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online"><em>EVE Online</em></a> has been cut down by 50% while <em><a href="http://www.everquest2.com/buyNow.vm">EverQuest II: The Shadow Odyssey</a> </em>has been slashed by a 75% hit, bringing it down to the wonderful price of 10 bucks! That's all of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/everquest-ii"><em>EverQuest II</em></a> for 10 bucks!<br /><br />So why are you still here, reading this post? <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/genre/Massively%20Multiplayer/">Get over to Steam</a>!</div>

<div align="left">For today and today only, GameStop is selling their downloadable copies of <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a> for only 10 US dollars! If you're thinking, "Well, it's probably only the original game and none of the expansion," then you would also be wrong! The version of the game that they're offering is the Vana'diel Collection 2008, which means it includes all of the expansions, even the newest expansion, <em><a href="http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/altana/index.html">Wings of the Goddess</a></em>.<br /><br />So if you're looking for a new MMO to get into, don't have an amazingly powerful PC, and don't have much cash to spend, you might want to seriously consider this deal. It's 10 bucks for a game and 3 whole expansions, the first month free, and it's going on <a href="http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/cybermon/default.aspx">for today only</a>!</div>

The harsh death penalty in <a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><span style="font-style: italic;">EVE Online</span></a> is something that's talked about a lot. I even touched on the issue myself when I compared <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/eve-online/"><span style="font-style: italic;">EVE Online</span></a>'s style of PvP <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/06/08/eve-evolved-eve-online-pvp-vs-age-of-conan-pvp/">to <span style="font-style: italic;">Age of Conan</span></a> and when I <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/eve-evolved-suicide-ganking-investigated/">investigated the phenomenon of suicide ganking</a>. In <span style="font-style: italic;">EVE</span>, your ship being destroyed means millions of your hard-earned isk is flushed down the drain. If you're unlucky enough not to get away in your escape pod, you'll be killed and recloned, costing yet more isk and destroying any expensive implants in your head. The brutal death penalty associated with PvP in <span style="font-style: italic;">EVE</span> is responsible for putting a lot of players off playing the game but is the taste of death really as bitter as people make it out to be?<br /><br />In this article, I examine the cost of defeat in PvP and how to minimise these costs without ruining your PvP performance.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/eve-evolved-the-cost-of-failure/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>EVE Evolved: The cost of failure</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/10/12/eve-evolved-the-cost-of-failure/">EVE Evolved: The cost of failure</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 12 Oct 2008 18:00:00 EST. A friendly heads-up for you MMO completionists among us. If you're one of the of the few who balked on the fantastic<a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/tabula-rasa"><em> Tabula Rasa</em></a> deal that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/save-the-game-get-tabula-rasa-on-the-cheap/">GoGamer had going last month</a>, consider this your chance at redemption. Amazon is currently <a href="http://www.amazon.com/NCsoft-FG-XP-TR1ST-030-Richard-Garriotts-Tabula/dp/B000SAV6RS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1206464384&amp;sr=8-1">offering the regular edition of <em>Tabula Rasa</em> for $9.99</a> as it's gaming Deal of the Day, with the Collector's Edition (which features a surprisingly beefy chunk of swag goodies) <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Richard-Garriotts-Tabula-Rasa-Collectors/dp/B000RLO7M4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&amp;s=videogames&amp;qid=1206464384&amp;sr=8-2">going for the low, low sum of $19.99</a>. We have quite the affection for <em>Tabula Rasa</em> around the Massively offices, in spite of its flaws. Even if you ignore our positive opinions of the game wholesale, it'd be really difficult not to get at least $9.99-worth of enjoyment out of the title.<br /><br />And for you <em>Tabula Rasa</em> regulars, this should be icing on the cake. As reader double9s pointed out to us, you can get double the mileage out of this deal by giving your new copy to a friend and then having her <a href="http://www.rgtr.com/community/contests_promotions/richard_garriotts_tabula_rasa_referral_program.html">sign up using the recruit-a-rookie program</a>. She gets a free game, you get another month for $10, and the Destination Games crew gets another warm body filling their servers, everybody wins!<br /><br />[Thanks to everybody who sent this in!]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/25/tabula-rasa-is-amazons-deal-of-the-day/">Tabula Rasa is Amazon's Deal of the Day</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 25 Mar 2008 13:45:00 EST.
