Firesky has launched a Stargate Worlds channel on YouTube, and has promised that a new video will go live every week day from here on out. So far there are six videos, all of which are brief, punchy developer interviews related to the various weapons in the game.

A few of them are a little painful to watch due to extreme geekiness, but there is a somewhat amusing running joke about the flamethrower weapon being a terribly kept secret. Its existence is unconvincingly denied in most videos, and in one it is confirmed but the developer insists that flamethrower gameplay is not ready to be shown to the public. He says this while a monitor behind him displays all kinds of in-game flamethrower carnage.

Firesky proudly brags that the channel was the #1 most subscribed on YouTube during the week of the 21st, and that it sits comfortably in the top 25 for the whole month of September. That said, most of the videos have only had a couple thousand views, except for the very first video (the flamethrower one), which had 8,000 views. Huh; that's kind of like a microcosm of the monthly lifecycle of an MMO! Anyway, we've embedded the flamethrower footage on the other side of the jump.

LivePvP is a website devoted to player-created, in-game video. They offer a place for players to upload their work for the world to see, whether it's from Aion, EVE Online, Everquest 2, or others. However, they feel it's time to get some content up there related to Age of Conan. To that end, they've created a channel for AoC video and offer some tips to fledgling video makers.

Among the advice on hand is possible content ideas, like showing off the landscape or tips and tricks for new players; and help on figuring out the crazy world of video compression. If you think you have something to share with the community, now's your chance!

Grok Newbie has an interesting idea for EVE pilots on the forums there: a gatecamp channel. If you're traveling around the universe, just sign in to a channel meant for reporting gatecamps, hear about trouble on there, and avoid getting blasted by someone sitting and waiting for travelers to warp into gates. Sounds like a good idea, right?

Well, kind of. It seems like a good way for new players to avoid trouble, until those wascally pirates get their hands on it. They could easily blast an "all-clear" signal over the channel to try and bait in unsuspecting ships, or send out a false alarm to keep people out of the system for whatever reason. As experienced pilots know, you can't trust players in EVE, so any channel run by players just wouldn't work.

But there are ways to keep an eye on what's happening anyway-- the local channels are usually a pretty good source of info on this vein. And the fact is that, for better or worse (to the joy of some players and the chagrin of others), if you're out of station in EVE, you're never truly safe. And that's the way many players, including the ones who can't wait to podkill you, want it
