	European <em><a href="http://www.massively.com/category/tera">TERA</a></em> players, it's time to get your violence on. <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/frogster">Frogster</a> has announced that a patch coming to the game next week will herald the return of the blood detail slider, so you sadistic freaks can finally revel in the spilled blood of your enemies.<br />
	<br />
	In addition, the patch is bringing back the guild emblem feature, which will allow players to once again upload their own unique icons to represent their guilds. The game's chat filter is also going to see some changes, which will hopefully stop the unnecessary censorship of certain words and phrases (and in some cases, linked item names) while ensuring that inappropriate language is properly censored. Eurogamer has further information, including a few words with Frogster's community manager Lucile Le Merle, so click on through to the full story for the full details.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/blood-guild-emblems-and-more-returning-to-eu-tera-next-week/">Blood, guild emblems and more returning to EU TERA next week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 15:00:00 EST. <div style="text-align: left; ">
	European <a href="http://www.massively.com/category/tera">TERA</a> fans have been <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/23/eu-tera-fans-petition-to-bring-the-blood-back/">up in arms</a> lately due to decisions on behalf of the game's European publisher, <a href="http://www.massively.com/tag/frogster">Frogster</a>, to remove a notable amount of the game's mature content in hopes of receiving a PEGI 12 rating. Today, the game's lead community manager, Raven, took to the forums to explain the logic behind some of these decisions and to elaborate on what players can expect moving forward.<br />
	<br />
	The post begins with an apology for the lack of transparency in the matter of removing the blood effect slider from the game without mention; it goes on to promise that "the gore slider will be back with the original three different graduations and blood will still be spread on the ground during combat," though it's important to note that the feature will be patched back in shortly after launch. Raven also clarifies the reasons behind some of the changes made to the childlike Elin, stating that the changes were made "not to comply with a demand from any official board, but because those characters in particular could have attracted to the game a population of unsavoury users, and it is part of [Frogster's] responsibility to protect [TERA's] younger audiences from them."<br />
	<br />
	As far as the changes made to other character models (such as the reduction of female breast size and some changes that made certain pieces of armor less revealing) are concerned, Raven points out that those changes are present in all versions of the game, including the Korean version, so it's not a case of the game's being censored purely for Western audiences. To get the full details and put forth your tuppence on the matter, just head on over to the official <em>TERA</em> EU forums.</div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/04/24/frogster-responds-to-community-uproar-over-european-tera-changes/">Frogster responds to community uproar over European TERA changes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 24 Apr 2012 18:00:00 EST. We're often asked here on Massively about what makes one start-up F2P MMO different from the others. What's the "hook," so to speak? Well, with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/dragonsoul/"><em>DragonSoul</em></a> the hook is easy to identify because the hook is dripping with blood and gore. It's a tad adult-oriented, let's just say.<br />
<br />
This PvP MMO with political underpinnings has reached two milestones today. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/neonga-ag/">Neonga AG</a> has opened <a href="http://www.dragonsoulonline.com/en/start/">the official <em>DragonSoul</em> website</a> and released the first trailer for the game (which features plenty of white blood splatter). There's plenty of information about the game that's posted on the site, including several (but not all) of the classes, screenshots, game systems, and community networking. There's even a place for you to register for the upcoming beta program.<br />
<br />
You can watch the SFW trailer after the jump and get a feel for what might make <em>DragonSoul</em> stand out from the crowd.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/11/03/dragonsoul-pries-a-website-and-trailer-out-of-its-opponents-col/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>DragonSoul pries a website and trailer out of its opponent's cold, dead hands</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/11/03/dragonsoul-pries-a-website-and-trailer-out-of-its-opponents-col/">DragonSoul pries a website and trailer out of its opponent's cold, dead hands</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 03 Nov 2011 12:30:00 EST. <a href="http://mythos-europe.com"><em>Mythos</em></a>, the upcoming <em>Diablo-</em>style action MMO, has not shown its first three classes to be subtle creatures. The first two revealed, <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/15/first-playable-class-revealed-for-mythos/">the pyromancer</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/20/frogster-unveils-mythos-gadgeteer-class/">the gadgeteer</a>, both showed their aptitudes for wide-scale destruction. However, the newest class reveal is even more direct -- <a href="http://mythos-europe.com/en/classes,bloodletter.html">the bloodletter</a>. It's both a class name and description of what the class specializes in doing. This class is a master of blood and causing grievous bodily harm to everything within range, and it seems quite well-suited to doing just that.<br />
<br />
As with other classes, the bloodletter has three different specializations available. The crimsonate gouges opponents and derives sustenance from their injuries, the red hand uses a necromantic control of blood to summon minions and turn corpses into weapons, and the martialist discards pseudo-mystical abilities in favor of brutal expertise with weaponry. Take a look at <a href="http://mythos-europe.com/en/classes,bloodletter.html">the full class page</a> for preview screenshots as well as short movies demonstrating the class capabilities, all fine demonstrations of what to expect from what may be the most direct class in <em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/Mythos/">Mythos</a></em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/09/29/newest-class-revealed-for-mythos-encourages-others-to-give-blood/">Newest class revealed for Mythos encourages others to give blood</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 29 Sep 2010 22:30:00 EST. Every RPG has <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Princesse">giant spiders</a>. Inevitably. Despite the fact that such creatures couldn't possibly support their own body weight and other natural physics problems, you will find them. And <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachnophobia">arachnophobes</a> the world over will cringe, because it will usually culminate in having to dive into an entire dungeon filled with spiderwebs and chittering eight-eyed things the size of a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummvee">Hummvee</a>. Not to mention all of the quests where your character has to smash them and then rifle around in what's left of their corpse and you get the general idea. If you're not comfortable with the idea of unholy, bulbous, overlegged creatures scuttling about, these parts aren't terribly comfortable even though you know it's just a game.<br />
<br />
Today, we ask you what produces that sort of bred-in gut reaction when you come across it? <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entomophobia">Giant bugs</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haemophobia">blood</a>, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mysophobia">slimy things</a> are all common ones for a negative reaction, but there are others, and some of them might even be unique to your own sensibilities. So we'd like to know, what gets you at a basic level, even when you're totally aware it's just a game? (And if any developers are reading right now, bonus question: why all the spiders, guys? Come on.)<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/12/08/the-daily-grind-what-produces-a-visceral-reaction-in-you/">The Daily Grind: What produces a visceral reaction in you?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 08 Dec 2009 08:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.playrequiem.com"><span style="font-style: italic;">Requiem</span></a>, the free-to-play MMO that insists on making sure that all living creatures squirt out 20 gallons of blood upon their deaths, has recently updated the game with a new expansion -- <a href="http://www.playrequiem.com/news/news.aspx"><span style="font-style: italic;">Memento Mori</span></a>.<br /><br /><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memento_mori">Memento Mori</a>, the Latin phrase meaning "Remember you will die," is a great description for the expansion that focuses on integrating learned skills and DNA directly into the character as they level. Previously, players would have to visit a trainer to learn skills, or assemble DNA strands with a DNA scientist in order to equip DNA mutations. <br /><br />Now these two aspects of character development have been placed into the game <a href="http://www.playrequiem.com/news/updateDetail.aspx?Num=60">as talent-esque windows</a>, which allow you to spread your points amongst new upgrades the moment you level. It's almost like you're "remembering" your skills and DNA abilities instead of learning them. We appreciate that.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/requiem-updates-to-memento-mori/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Requiem updates to "Memento Mori"</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/10/01/requiem-updates-to-memento-mori/">Requiem updates to "Memento Mori"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 01 Oct 2009 20:00:00 EST. B is one of those letters that you never think of when you're doing lists. Yet the team over at <a href="http://www.fallenearth.com"><em>Fallen Earth</em></a> has put together a few reasons why B is a great letter, especially for the apocalypse. Their <a href="http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/905848/fallen-earth/videos/fallenearth_trl_3bs_73009.html">newest trailer</a> for their upcoming post-apocalyptic MMO focuses in on all of the blood, beasts and... er... babes?<br /><br />While we're pretty sure that the game has enough blood and beasts to keep the average rabid gamer hungry, babes might be a little harder to come by. But it is the apocalypse and we guess that the human race does need babes to survive. Very important for the race to continue onwards and what not.<br /><br />The video is being shown over at <a href="http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/905848/fallen-earth/videos/fallenearth_trl_3bs_73009.html">IGN's video site</a> if you want to take a look at it, but you do need to input your birthday to see it. Lastly, if you ask us, the last babe that they show off at around 0:20 is truly the hottest of them all. She's a bit heavy set, and her skin is a little on the grey side, but we see a heart of gold in there.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2009/08/03/fallen-earths-three-bs-of-the-apocalpyse-trailer-now-showing/">Fallen Earth's "Three Bs of the Apocalpyse" trailer now showing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 03 Aug 2009 20:00:00 EST. <div align="left"> With the<em> <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/">WotlK</a> </em>NDA crushed and thrown away there's an information upheaval. <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com">WoW Insider</a> <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/07/21/wrath-of-the-lich-king-beta-weekend-coverage-roundup/">is sorting through the overload</a> and what will set <em>WotlK</em> apart from <em>TBC</em> is the Death Knight. It's the first new class introduction since <em>World of Warcraft</em> launched in 2004. Sure, there is some cause for concern. The big question on many minds is will the class be over powered? If you aren't in the beta maybe the following three videos will help you decide. Each video showcases a different talent tree: Unholy, Frost, and Blood. The videos are courtesy of Leiah, <em>WotlK</em> beta tester and MMOG blogger at <a href="http://jadefury.blogspot.com/">World of Feedback</a>. <br /></div>
</center><br />The video above displays the Death Knight thrashing around in the <a href="http://www.wowwiki.com/Pools_of_Aggonar">Pools of Aggonar</a> and specialized in Unholy. What stands out is the <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=49938">Death and Decay,</a> a powerful AE ability, which leaves a wake of destruction in its path. When used in conjunction with <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=51328">Corpse Explosion</a> and two Blood tree talents: <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=49483">Butchery</a> and <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=50154">Vendetta</a>, a lethal combo ensues as each kill returns 6% health and 20 runic power. <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=49039">Lichborne</a>, <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=49222">Bone Armor</a>, and <a href="http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=50977">Death Gate</a> are also used. You can also see the sacrificial ghoul explode and deal 2,000 extra damage. The other two Death Knight build videos are after the break.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/wotlk-death-knight-in-action-in-three-videos-that-showcase-a-di/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>WotlK: Death Knight talent builds showcased in three action clips</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/wotlk-death-knight-in-action-in-three-videos-that-showcase-a-di/">WotlK: Death Knight talent builds showcased in three action clips</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Mon, 21 Jul 2008 11:00:00 EST. Here's the <a style="font-style: italic;" href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/age-of-conan">Age of Conan</a> trailer <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/new-age-of-conan-trailer-drops-thursday/">we've been waiting on</a> (the whole thing is after the break) fresh off of its <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/video/927504/6187230/age-of-conan-hyborian-adventures-official-trailer-12">release on GameSpot</a>. The environments look good, but I have to say that the character models seem a bit disappointing, at least from what I could see. But there are some <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/19/gdc08-a-preview-of-age-of-conans-wild-and-wooly-mounted-combat/">cool-looking mounts</a> in here, flowing cloaks, lots of boats and of course, plenty of blood and dismemberment: the heads, they are a-poppin'.<br /><br />Haven't got enough <span style="font-style: italic;">Age of Conan</span> media yet? Be sure to check our <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/10/hands-on-with-age-of-conans-dark-templar-class/">Dark Templar</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/17/hands-on-with-age-of-conans-barbarian-class/">Barbarian</a> hands-on, as well as the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/photos/age-of-conan-ces-2008-gallery/">gallery of screens from CES</a>, and a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/05/we-built-this-city-age-of-conans-constructable-pvp-city-system/">GDC PvP city preview</a>. <p>Funcom is not only proud of the fact that <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/aoc/"><em>Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures</em></a> will feature adult shenanigans <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/age-of-conan-product-director-jorgen-tharaldsen-youll-see-ti/">such as "titties"</a> (Male or female? Clearly a case for Veronica Mars), but they are boasting <a href="http://funcom.vnewscenter.com/press.jsp?id=1196774689257">via a press release</a> that the recent batch of invites put them over the 10,000 mark in total beta invites sent out. <br /></p>
<p>Funcom wants attention, and I'm falling for it! But if I were to jab them over something it would be about the specifics: How many players out of 10,000 are still playing? What's the average time those players spend playing the beta? etc. Yea, I doubt Funcom would disclose those numbers... Anyhow, I checked my entire array of inboxes again, and not one <em>AoC</em> beta invite was found. Mark my words Funcom, I will remember this tragedy. Maybe your luck is better than mine, be sure to thoroughly check your inboxes as I'm sure some invites are being crushed by the anti-spambot crusaders. <br /></p>
<p>I think Richard Garriot would wonder what in the hell Funcom is smoking <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/05/garriott-says-too-many-beta-testers-hurt-tabula-rasa/">by giving out so many beta invites</a> almost four months before the game is due to launch on or about March 25th, 2008. On the other hand, I relish in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/07/the-purpose-of-beta-testing/">all this beta madness;</a> even if I do agree with some of Garriot's points in regards to <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/tabula-rasa/"><em>Tabula Rasa's</em></a> beta. Learn to develop? Don't hate. We love <em>Tabula Rasa</em>. errr.. Well some writers at Massively do. (Note: I am going to give <em>TR</em> another chance eventually -- <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/holideals-tabula-rasa-stocking-stuffers/">it's in the bargain bin.</a>) Woot? <br /><br />With so much content flooding the front pages here at Massively it's quite possible you didn't gander <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/06/heads-roll-in-new-age-of-conan-trailer/">the new <em>Age of Conan</em> trailer</a>. Here's a spoiler: Heads roll in splendorous Hyborian glory. It's hard to keep up with all the decapitations, so, if you made it this far check out the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/age-of-conan"><em>Age of Conan</em> categorical goodness</a>, and tell us how we need more <em>AoC</em> coverage in the comments. So, did you get lucky? <a href="http://beta.ageofconan.com/beta_application/">Sign up for the <em>AoC</em> beta here before the next batch gets sent out.</a><br /><br />[via, <a href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/15535">TenTonHammer</a>]<br /><a href="http://funcom.vnewscenter.com/press.jsp?id=1196774689257"><strong>Related Story</strong></a><br /></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/12/07/age-of-conan-10-000-beta-invites-sent-out-so-far/">Age of Conan: 10,000 beta invites sent out so far</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 07 Dec 2007 18:00:00 EST. <br />Gamesblog.it managed to score a video interview with <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/12/age-of-conans-guardian-put-under-the-microscope/">Jorgen Tharaldsen</a>, product director for <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/funcom">Funcom</a> and <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/age-of-conan/"><em>Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures</em></a> , and just in case you weren't sure yet, he makes it clear -- this game is not for kids. The interviewer poses a few questions relating to how <em>AoC</em> will be different from other MMO's out there, in particular its more mature and violent approach.<br /><br />The passionate Tharaldsen does not hold back -- much like the game itself -- with his responses. He places a lot of emphasis on Funcom wanting to be faithful to the Conan story and license, and not having to "dumb it down" or remove elements for a younger audience. Decapitations, prostitutes, and copious amounts of blood are some of the things mentioned that you may not find in your average MMO. Tharaldsen said that it was liberating to not have to worry about including aspects like this -- anything that they wanted to add, they did.<br /><br />It remains to be seen how the proposed <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/10/26/funcom-creates-a-variable-rating-system-for-age-of-conan/">server-side ratings system</a> will pan out, and whether there will be an uncut edition of the game available in every region, but it's nice to know that at least somewhere, the game will exist in a form that is exactly how the developers envisioned.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/15/age-of-conan-product-director-jorgen-tharaldsen-youll-see-ti/">Age of Conan product director, Jorgen Tharaldsen: "You'll see titties"</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 15 Nov 2007 17:30:00 EST.
