<p>It's said that two of the most prevalent economic forces in the world are fear and greed. <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/08/linden-lab-cracks-down-on-second-life-banks/" target="_blank">Linden Lab's new banking ban</a> has highlighted both of those, in spades.</p>
<p>Linden Lab has absolutely refused to act as a regulator of banking in <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/second-life" target="_blank"><em>Second Life</em></a> in an ongoing fashion, and have therefore chosen to bar the practice entirely, except where operators can prove that they are already regulated by real-world authorities. Not just legal - <em>regulated</em>.</p><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/the-sl-banking-ban-fear-and-greed/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The SL Banking ban - fear and greed</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/01/09/the-sl-banking-ban-fear-and-greed/">The SL Banking ban - fear and greed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 09 Jan 2008 05:00:00 EST. <p>Baba Yamamoto reports that <a target="_blank" href="http://www.libsecondlife.org/wiki/News:0.3_Release">the latest libsecondlife release (version 0.3) is available</a> for download now. This version includes full inventory and CAPS/LLSD support.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.libsecondlife.org/" target="_blank">The libsecondlife project</a> is a clean-room implementation of <a target="_blank" href="http://massively.joystiq.com/tag/second-life"><span style="font-style: italic;">Second Life's</span></a> communications protocol, with much of the work done by reverse-engineering. In the past, libsecondlife development work has highlighted protocol and security bugs in <span style="font-style: italic;">Second Life's</span> architecture (and at times has been misused). At present it is used as the basis for automation, and some alternative thin access clients. The project is developed in C#.</p>
