If you were planning on making a few coin off your jars of squig juice or stacks of dem bones, you might have to hold off for a few days, as <a href="http://www.mythicentertainment.com/">Mythic</a> will be temporarily disabling <a href="http://www.warhammeronline.com"><em>Warhammer Online's</em></a> in-game auction house beginning Friday afternoon. The functionality is being removed in order to patch in the latest tweaks coming your way with the <a href="http://herald.warhammeronline.com/patchnotes/index.php?id=2010_1-3-6">1.3.6 update</a>. The patch brings a streamlined auction house UI, as well as a standardized 48-hour auction duration. Additionally, pricing has been simplified to buy-out only.<br />
<br />
Previously existing auctions will continue to be available featuring the bidding and buy-out functionality, but new auctions will not be available until after the patch. Check out the official announcement at the <a href="http://herald.warhammeronline.com/warherald/NewsArticle.war?id=1215">Warhammer Herald</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/08/13/war-temporarily-disabling-in-game-auction-house/">WAR temporarily disabling in-game auction house</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Fri, 13 Aug 2010 12:30:00 EST. While our column last week was all about <a href="http://www.playonline.com"><em>Final Fantasy XI</em></a>, we're turning this week to <a href="http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com"><em>Final Fantasy XIV</em></a> and the <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/06/30/final-fantasy-xiv-announces-launch-date-and-pricing-model/">release date</a> that is approaching oh so quickly. But not quickly enough. Somehow knowing that it's just around the corner in September just makes the interim that much harder. I mean, we have to go through how many more weeks of the agonizing anticipation? At least it gets released after PAX, so I won't have to worry about the timing of that with traveling out to Seattle, but <em>holy wow guys the game is coming out in two months</em>.<br />
<br />
If it weren't already wholly obvious, I'm pretty excited. The game is shaping up to be amazing by every standard I care to use, and the fact that it's this close to release is unexpectedly wonderful news. But while I would have happily discussed some of the release details last week, there were other events that needed attention first. Now that I can sit back down and take a closer look, however, there were a couple parts that really stood out to me. I mean, even beyond the squealing joy of its oncoming release.<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/10/the-mog-log-cant-hardly-wait-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The Mog Log: Can't hardly wait edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2010/07/10/the-mog-log-cant-hardly-wait-edition/">The Mog Log: Can't hardly wait edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sat, 10 Jul 2010 18:00:00 EST. Sign in on the auction house mule in <a href="http://www.worldofwarcraft.com"><em>World of Warcraft</em></a>, check mail, and then scan the AH. Log in to <a href="http://www.eve-online.com"><em>EVE Online</em></a>, pull up the markets, check what's up in Jita. Figure out if you need to make something to sell or use then log in the alts to do the dirty work. For some people, an alt is as simple as having a bank character that you send everything to for selling, or as involved as having a string of alts who can do every single production/tradeskill in your favorite MMO. Personally, I'm one of those folks who has a bank alt on pretty well every MMO account possible and a couple of profession alts purely for the professions I think are fun or interesting. This morning we thought we'd ask you - do you have any of those alts floating around, and if so, what are <em>your</em> alts for?<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/12/07/the-daily-grind-on-mmos-and-alts/">The Daily Grind: On MMOs and Alts</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 07 Dec 2008 08:00:00 EST. And we're not talking about <a href="http://www.wowinsider.com/2006/09/19/breakfast-topic-selling-your-account/">selling accounts on eBay</a>. <br /><br />One of the most frustrating aspects of being a new player in an established game, to my mind, is the cost of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/02/07/official-vanguard-site-encourages-fledgling-crafters-with-trades/">start-up crafting</a> materials. Hit up any public market area, auction house, trade square or similar as a newbie and you will see what I mean. Even low-level items of any use (i.e. not vendor trash) are sold for seemingly absurd amounts given the time that would be required at early levels in order to generate the money. It can make the start of a new character infuriating and the game too <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/03/20/the-daily-grind-in-game-cash-for-subscriptions/">taxing</a> (pun fully intended) to continue. Why does this happen? What makes these things so costly? Why can't we all just get along...? (Oh wait, that's another column entirely)<p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/13/making-money-newbs-at-auction/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Making/Money: Newbs at Auction</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/04/13/making-money-newbs-at-auction/">Making/Money: Newbs at Auction</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Sun, 13 Apr 2008 11:00:00 EST.
