Arguably the most recognizable <em><a href="http://www.secondlife.com">Second Life</a></em> resident from the outside, with her blue-and-purple butterfly wings, Aimee Weber has made a name for herself with her metaverse development company <a href="http://www.aimeeweber.com/">Aimee Weber Studios</a>. She's become so successful, in fact, that she no longer has the time to play on <a href="http://slurl.com/secondlife/BIG/107/180/23">her own private island</a>, so she's <a href="http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=258568">selling it</a>. In a statement to Massively, she says:<br /><br />"<em>I used to love filling the sim with half-completed projects, fun little experiments in unusual texturing, experiments of my stream of consciousness, simulations of RL places I like to hang out in so that I could have virtual getaways. As </em><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life/">Second Life</a><em> became a profession I've found I had less and less time for such indulgences. </em><em>SL is less a kiddy sandbox these days, and more like a serious construction zone.</em>"<br /><br />Aimee takes care of the transfer fee, and you get full ownership of her jungle retreat. Such a deal! Interested residents can contact her in-world.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2008/05/15/second-lifes-aimee-weber-to-sell-her-custom-sim/">Second Life's Aimee Weber to sell her custom sim</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Thu, 15 May 2008 10:00:00 EST. Love it or loathe it, it's Christmas trotting toward you, antlered head held high and the glint of consumer-related malice in its eye. Regardless of your personal belief system, chances are you'll have to buy at least one gift for someone simply because it's traditional. Well, if that someone also happens to be a <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life"><em>Second Life</em></a> resident, then let this post help you in deciding what to get someone who has everything -- virtually.<br /><strong><br />The Casual/Work Acquaintance</strong><br />Maybe you have a supervisor or boss that spends time in <em>SL</em>, but you don't know their tastes well enough to know what they'd like as a gift (and consequently feel warm and fuzzy toward you enough to give you a raise). I suggest <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/104-6945380-3307166?url=search-alias%3Daps&amp;field-keywords=%22Second+Life%22&amp;x=0&amp;y=0">one of the fine guides to <em>Second Life</em></a> to be had on Amazon.com. In the spirit of this film, I thought I would take you all on a quick photographic journey of <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/category/second-life/" style="font-style: italic;">Second Life</a>, starting with the smallest objects possible and ending with a view of everything, all that there is. I will be adjusting scale for aesthetics rather than using an exponential scale, which is particularly handy since <span style="font-style: italic;">Second Life</span> is not QUITE as large as the real-world universe. But I think you will be surprised to see just how big it is.<br /><br />So let the journey begin!<br /><br /><p><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/second-life-and-the-powers-of-ten/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Second Life and the powers of ten</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/07/second-life-and-the-powers-of-ten/">Second Life and the powers of ten</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Wed, 07 Nov 2007 18:01:00 EST. About halfway through the video, Adams gets the beatdown by Dilbert himself; how meta can you get? Also, while you're watching, keep an eye out for our own Aimee Weber, watching on in the background, butterfly wings a-flutter! <br /><br />Wow, who knew that the secret to success was letting oneself be abused by one's fans? I'll have to rethink my entire strategy!<br /><br />(<em>Via <a href="http://www.youtube.com">youtube.com</a>; thanks, SquidooMegan!</em>)<br /><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com"><img src="http://massively.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Massively" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://massively.joystiq.com/2007/11/06/scott-adams-gets-kicked-repeatedly-in-the-groin/">Scott Adams gets kicked repeatedly in the groin</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://massively.joystiq.com">Massively</a> on Tue, 06 Nov 2007 09:40:00 EST.
